I am now after 8 years looking for an upgrade. I am most likely headed to B&W cdm7se's. And the 4's are headed into my bedroom. I can not part with them. I can not imagine a better value, $600 for 8 years of college, grad school and now low level listening. They sound great very high or very low. I hope my new speakers provide as good of a value, I have been spolied.

Strength:

This speaker really brings music to life and has excellent bass for a smaller speaker.

Weakness:

The only weakness that the speaker has is that it is a 2-way system. If the midrange was better then the speaker would be perfect.

I bought these speakers brand new in 1991 and they have performed perfectly since that day I brought them home. As stated above, if they were a 3-way system they would be perfect. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a smaller size speakers and looking for big sound. They are a very efficient speaker system only requiring small amounts of power to sound great.

In my opinion, there are no speakers that compare to Klipsch unless it is another pair of Klipsch.

Aaaaahh yes the KG4. I bought a pair of these speakers a number of years ago. Unfortunatly I also sold them a number of years ago. I will never forget them. I had a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 7's and could not stand them. The drivers popped and their pretty "fish eye" liquid cooled tweeters blew. After about 2 months of putting up with the Polk's I threw them away and bought the KG4's. I had never and still haven't heard a better pair of speakers. These speakers are so good I used mine for about three years and sold them for more than I paid for them. I still regret selling them.I give the KG'4s five stars. Keep up the good work Paul.

Strength:

massive soundstage for a two-way speaker

Weakness:

not made anymore

when I got my system about 12 years ago I had a problem,
spend lots on a nakamichi tape deck or sink the cash into a set of nice speakers. Guess what I did? let's put it this way I told my wife when we first met if the house is on fire
and I'm not around, everything can burn, but save the KG4s!

Clarity, House Filling Power, Quality, Strength

Weakness:

None

I got the KG 4's new in 1989, while in School, they took a beating then, badly, and have for the last TEN YEARS. My friends got some in Germany, and I also got a pair. I use these speakers every day, and have a pair of 1.3's in my kitchen running with them. I have only heard of them failing when people don't match then with quality power. I have an NAD 1000, and 2100. I think the soft clipping on these componets really is also a saving grace. I have bought other speakers and got them home, then took then back after hearing them next to the Kg4's. For the price, about $800 back then, and the solid matched oak cases, and the shear performance ( I hammer these spearkers at house party's still, people are amazed by them, are are upset they can't buy them anymore) I just don't think I will ever get rid of them. If a componet fails... I hope I can get a new one. Or maybe I'll just have them Bronzed, and used as rather large bookends.

These speakers define a balance between quality, performance and price not found often.

Casual Listener

Strength:

Clarity

Weakness:

None so far

I'd call myself a casual listener because I'd rather be trying to match riffs though a mixer and headphones with Mr. Kay, McGuinn and Petty. The KG4s are the first (reasonably priced) home speaker I've heard that make a Rickenbacker sound like a Ric, not like a P90 equipped SG in need of a setup. I didn't notice the lack of bass others have commented on. I hear tight bass, not the thump of an underdamped cone. Hand clapping sounds like hand clapping, not rain on the roof. Good soundstage that puts my heros up there. They work for Vivaldi also (hey, eclectic tastes), so I suppose there isn't much they can't handle.

Strength:

For its price range, there is no equal to the smooth and accurate tonal quality these speakers portray.

Weakness:

tweeter longevity

Using only audioplhile components these speakers are unmatchable. The tweeters blow occaisonally, but a trip to
the local klipsch dealer here and about 20 minutes, remedies
that. If you can find a good used set of these, I would
grab them. They just dont make them like this anymore.
