Strength:

clean sounding, play high volumes, good sound stage

Have owned these speakers for 4 years now and still enjoying them everyday. Been using denon recievers with them for the past 3 years with HT. Got tired of HT, sold the denon and got rotel rb-1080(200)wpc and rc-1070pre-amp and the sound has improved 1000%. Ive been missing what these speakers are capable of for the past 4 years, only wished I could have bought seperates 4 years ago.

Strength:

Incredibly accurate sound stage and instrument reproduction. Awesome Home Theatre effects. Gives you the Concert/Being there experience.

I recently purchased my second pair of KLF30s to function as my main surrounds. I also have a pair of KSP-S6s which I hooked up to see if these would be better for Movies and use the 30s for music. Well after only a few minutes, the S6s are going to be relegated to the rear effects for 6.1 sound. I am powering my system with the Denon AVR5800. Correctly positioned, these speakers offer noticably better sound then the S6s did. You are completely enveloped more so than what the WDT technology is able to provide. My test material was the lobby scene from the "Matrix", the landing draft scene from "Saving Private Ryan" and the rave scene from the beginning of "Blade". I'd also like to mention that the tone controls were turned off, so no +/- effects on the sound. Still playing with setting these as LARGE vs. SMALL. Buys these while they are still available, you own't be sorry.

Strength:

Very smooth clear sound. Strong bass exspecially at high volume.

Very clear open sound. I did an A,B test on these compared to my Klf 10's and I was surprised at how much smoother these speakers are than the 10's. Highs and mids on these are very nice. The bass is not as prominent on the 30's as the 10's untill turned up high. Even then the 10's are very nice with bass. I think the 30's are just so much more vocal than the 10's that the bass is not as up front as on the neutral sounding 10's. These speakers are really great to listen to! I like alot of different music and they play it all very well.
My receiver is a Denon 3300 and with the 5 channel stereo mode there is nothing like the Klf 30's, Klf 10's and the Klf C7 all playing in stereo. I think these speakers combine for the biggest most powerful and clear sound I have ever heard! When all 5 channels are going if you wanted to remove all the pictures from the surrounding walls all you would need to do is "turn it up"! I have yet to have ANYONE listen and not say how "CLEAR" it sounds. Everyone that has heard this stereo has said they have never heard anything like it before. Just last week an old friend was over and he too mentioned how clear it was and that MY stereo sounded better than any display he's ever auditioned at a dealer. No we don't go around listening to stereo's nor are we audiophiles but these speakers DO sound GREAT!
I paid $1130 for the pair plus $175 shipping.

I've had my KLF-30's since July 98 and I believe they are the best sounding speakers in their price range. I truly enjoy the clarity and power of these speakers! Even though I'm new to Home Theater I have surpassed all my audiophile friends systems with these speakers.
I highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.

After everyone’s attacking with what I wrote about these KLF 30's, I went and wanted to listen to them. This time the local store had Yamaha receiver hooked up to them. I don't remember which one. Before they had McIntosh. This time there was a huge difference. They were still loud, but there was the bass and it was good. I liked it. But still they are horn speakers, and some people love the horn, some people just hate them. I now change my mind, I don't love them, but I don't hate them. I am in between. They didn't deserve what I wrote about them before. So that's why I am posting this. And I apologize from the people who got offended from this.

Strength:

Midrange and high-end accuracy; solid mid bass; extremely efficient; beautiful finish

Weakness:

low-end bass response; heavy piece of furniture

From the middle bass range, say somewhere between 50 and 100 hz all the way to the top, these speakers are exemplary performers. Beneath that level, the Klipsch KLF 30s are somewhat lacking. This surprises me a bit, considering that each cabinet has two twelve inch woofers. This doesn't bother me with music most of the time; it's only with home theatre that it is noticeable. No matter. That's what subwoofers are for, and if I ever feel that I need thunderous bass so low that I soil my Fruit of the Looms every five minutes, I'll head to the stereo store and snap up a fifteen inch, 500 watt monster. The neighbors will be glad I did. If the audio engineers at Klipsch had to choose between tuning the box to optimise the mid lows versus the bottom end, I'm please with their choice. It gives the speaker a very balanced output. I upgraded from KLF 20s; both speakers share the same model midrange and tweeter, which often overpowers the twin ten inch woofers of the KLF 20. After owning both, it appears that Klipsch designed the upper end for the KLF 30s, then slapped the same rig into the KLF 20s. As a result the 20s are too bright, and will drive you out of the room with some recordings.

I am the proud owner of both a quality AV receiver (Denon 1801) and a tube amp (Dynaco ST-70). Klipsch sound best driven with tube amps. The Dynacos are still available on ebay, but as with all tube amps, they require periodic maintenance. No big deal for the individual who doesn't mind fiddling with these things, but they are a hassle for folks who prefer plug and play. Yes, they are simple to operate, and very reliable, but keep in mind there are dramatic differences in the sounds of solid state amps, and some are much brighter than others. For example, it's been my experience that as good as Yamaha amps are, they are a bit too bright for Klipsch speakers; the Denon line seems to be much warmer and smoother.

It's a shame that Klipsch has decided to discontinue this line. Based on what I've heard, the replacement stuff may be technically equivalent, but not nearly as elegant. It appears that they are not able to generate enough profit producing the KLF or Legend series, and the replacements may be made of a less expensive grade of materials. Of course, if you want true elegance, have a look at Klipsch's heritage series. Fortunately, these models are still available, but at a premium price. They are also only made to order; perhaps Klipsch will decide to do the same with the Legend series. To be safe and if you have the cash, get 'em while they're still here!

Strength:

Many. They are big, handsome, born and bred in the-(gasp!)- USA,dynamic, exciting, revealing, and real wood too. In other words, they are just like me.

Weakness:

Need to be paired with a smooth,high-quality amp. This may mean large yankee dollars. But,at least these speakers are an outstanding buy in the first place.

Although I do not own these,I wish I could. I am just too cash-strapped right now and I guess I am already a B+W man. But,if I had the spare $1600 or so to spend on towers,I would choose these over the B+W-604's which cost roughly the same. Why? I dunno, the approach to sound is unusual, very different - not as smooth maybe, and also colder - but they just rock so damn strongly! You definitely will hear a whole different side to the music than what the Brit's would give you and it is so peculiarly American - sort of "radical",yet somehow balanced in all of it's complexity of naive, raw, puritanical-energy. Because of the high sensitivity, these monoliths will be able to draw from the reserves of your amp's "A" power- portion without the need to tap so much into the "AB"- reserves, making the sound even purer than might otherwise be possible. Bass is killer for the money. They look classy. I will alway's remember this audition, and I just had to write a review about it. Too bad Klipsch is supposed to be discontinuing these - I hope a suitable replacement is in the works at an equally good price.

Strength:

Dynamics, Tonal balance(at low to medium volume), ability to play loud and clear and the overall presentation.

Weakness:

A bit bright at higher levels.

I am very pleased with the performance of this Speaker! I'm hearing things on CD that I've never heard before. Quite possibly the best Tower Speaker (for the $) on the Market. I'm going to get another pair before there all gone. For $1200 you can't go wrong, but to be totally honest I wouldn't have been upset if I had paid MSRP. From day to day they keep sounding better! Everything I wanted in a Speaker: Dynamics, Soundstage, Frequency Response(sounds just as good at a low volume)Vocals come out clear and precise, an aggressive Speaker, ability to play the most demanding recordings. By the way I love those HORNS!! If you listen to Rap, Techno Pop, probably not the Speaker for you. But if you listen R&B, Jazz or anything with a lot of instruments and/or vocals, then by all means go out and audition a pair. Better hurry though. I hear they are discontinued.

In responce to Jeff L. Linwoods remarks "the highs make you feel uncomfortable all the time. You just want to turn the music off.The lows are not natural. Is there mids?",I doubt if these speakers were ever purchased and this is just someone who wants to trash Klipsch. He stated that he did all of his research on these speakers but nowhere did he mention he auditioned them.Yes speaker placement is important, but to have the sound quality change so drastically.....and to make the comment "is there mids?". Anyone that owns a pair of these speakers knows what they are capable of doing. So I will give them 5 stars to offset his poor and biased remarks.
