Let me start by saying that I have owned a pair of Klipsch Heresy's since 1978. These acted as my mains until March the 5th. I was really torn between the 20's and 30's, but the bigger, even more dynamic sound grabbed me. In a word "AWESOME" sound for both Home Theater and Music. Simply incredible imaging. There is music that I have listened to for years and am now hearing things I missed originally. For all the horn nay-sayers out there, all I can say is, I guess you have never seen LIVE music of any kind. Just look at what they use! I am trying to decide now on two additions (my speakers are all Klipsch). The first being a KLF matching center channel (CF7?) and the second being a second KSW 200. Any thoughts on either would be appreciated. Please feel free to email me with your comments and/or suggestions. (I am using a Yamaha DSP A1 to power my system now). Thanks again for helping me make a great choice! |

These speakers are Klipsch's best yet, way better than the Klipschorns. I have the horns by themselves and they really don't sound good. BUT, when accompanied by a Belle as the center to fill in where they lack in imaging, KLF 30s on the sides for surround fill, and an 18" Velodyne to pick up below 100hz where the Klipschorns are very weak, AND a Meridian DAC to give superior imaging....it is a solid live performance! The KLF 30s by themselves do sound excellent, and for the horn haters, yes I have listened to Celestion and Kef and B&W and these all sound dead compared to this. When I say dead, I am comparing this to live acoustic music and live electric music. To each his own though. Most people will be very satisfied with this speaker. |

I just got these speakers a few days ago. I listened to music and movies on these speakers and I have one thing to say about these speakers, THEY SOUND SPECTACULAR!! I was literally blown away by the clarity of these speakers. I listened to the James Taylor DVD and it sounded like JT was sitting right in front of me. I have the whole KLF home theater setup and it is just breath taking. Yes it will play VERY loud but this is not necessary to enjoy these very efficient speakers, I highly recommend them, feel free to email me with your opinions as well. |

Strength:
clean loud
Weakness:
very big I've had these speakers for over a month now and here's my way of reviewing them...AWESOME,I can't think of anything wrong with them..I listen to all kinds of music from BACH-MOZART-TO 3rd eye blind to david bowie to train, johnny cash and back again. The klf 30's will play very loud and very clean and you don't need an amp-the size of a volkswagon to push them. the only thing is that they are very big ad heavy, but thankfully my listening room is 25 by 17 feet so no problem...I traded an ADCOM GFA 555 II and an ADCOM GTP 450 pre-amp for them and am not sorry I did.. |

Wide[very wide]soundstage!!I sold a pair of KG5.5 an upgraded to these I got these delivered last January for1300.00.Tremendous bass definition, dynamic range is spectacular these are VERY HIGH QUALITY speakers!!The sound has alot to do with what cables, and associated equipment you have, after 1 year I THINK I have found the Magic Formula to bring out the best in these with out going crazy [price wise].I originally had an Adcom 5 channel power amp with a matching pre amp, audioquest Midnight+ Speaker Cable,Audiotruth Emerald, innerconnects, going from Adcomc/d to pre-amp.I sold all that[inserted] a Sony es receiver hated it got rid of it! Here's the ticket.Dennon 3300 Receiver [used only as a processer],5 Marantz MA700 [200 watts each] Mono Blocks,JPS Superconducter+ innerconnects, from pre-main outs to mono blocks,Pioneer Elite100 disc c/d with Jps COAX digital cable out to Dennon processer.I am still using Audioquest Midnight+ speaker cable, the sound quality is DYNAMITE.
Weakness:
None That I can find. Without a doubt NOTHING for 1300.00 maybe even2000.00 sounds this good!!!This cmbination I now have sounds down right KILLER.The Marantz Mono blocks are dead silent and so is the Dennon3300 this is a match made for 1 another.I cannot say enough about JPS Superconducter+ innerconnects, they make the Klipsch's sound almost LIQUID, or LUSHLIKE,COMPLETELY different then the Audiotruth Emerald,I also had Lapis which is 1 step up from Emerald using silver as the center conducter.BUT these JPS blow those 2 away TOTALY AWAY!!!AT half the price of Emerald. This set up doe's indeed sound terrific.I am a FIRM BELIEVER in high quality cables, and innenconnects. My system NEVER sounded better. These cables and mono blocks are BARELY broke in but everything else is.I also have a Pioneer Elite dvd 09 dvd player, a Pioneer Elite cld79 Laser Disc player,Velodyne 1215x powered sub,Klipsch kg3.1 rear speakers with Lovan Ballet3 29 inch metal stands,Toshiba 56 widescreen hdtv,Sony Satellite, toslink cable Courtesy of JPS going from the Sony sat receiver to the Dennon 3300 digital in the dac's on the Dennon are FAR superior then the Sony Satalite.Needless to say the commerical free digital satalite radio stations sound kick ass and take names. This system really rocks ,but the sound is VERY REFINED, and lush loads of DETAIL AND A TON of dynamic range!!!!My speakers are semi- gloss black !!! Strength:
The soundstage is real and live. I love the sound from these speakers.
Weakness:
Cabinet Separations. I've had to return (2) sets of KSW-300 Mahogany's now. I've seemed to run into bad luck with the cabinets holding together. Once the cabinents start to separate internally the cabinets will vibrate the wood together making a terrible vibration noise plus killing your bass output. Nontheless I love these speakers, they come with a 5-year warranty so I guess I get a new set everytime this happens. It just sucks loading up these monsters back to the audio store. Strength:
Beautifully crafted cabinets. Can handle lots of power. Un-matched sound. I couldn't find anything that even comes close for the money!
Weakness:
Absolutely none!!! I waited until I got my center C-7 and my surround RS-3's before I reviewed these Big Boys. I am completely thrilled with what these are capable of. I expected nothing less from our friends at Klipsch. My wife cares very little about Audio/Video but fell in love with the beauty of these loudspeakers. I on the other hand had to wait until she left the house until I could fall in love and turn them up and put them through the test. I watched Peter Frampton/ Live in Detroit in DTS and was very pleased with the performance. I then watched Romeo Must Die on DVD as well and couldn't believe what I was hearing. These speakers have been on the market since 1997 and are being replaced this year. I have a one year speaker trade up that the dealer offers in which I doubt I'll use but Klipsch is always surprising us with new innovations. For now I'll just sit back and thank the guys from Hope, Arkansas. By far the best loudspeaker on the market for the $$$$!!!! KLIPSCH!!!! 10 Stars!!!! Strength:
Strengths are many...open, dynamic, detailed, crystal clear. Throw 200W+/channel at high volumes at these speakers, and they don't even blink.
Weakness:
Was afraid I'd have a heart-attack carrying them into the house. Don't move them much now. Finally arrived at these at the end of a short, steep upgrade path. As others have pointed out, these speakers are very revealing. Deficiencies in upstream components or media will be more-than-apparent. Strength:
Lots of bass but not overwhelming, sounds really good. Can take all that you give it and still sounds nice.
Weakness:
I am not an audio and I haven't recognized any weaknesses in these speakers for what I use them for (music and HT). They are on the heavy side but heavier is better. I was well on my way to fulfilling a lifetime dream of owning a pair of bose speakers until I heard a friend's KLF 30s. The sound of these speakers are unbelievelable for the price. I caught mine on clearance for $650 for the pair, even the regular price for the quality is worth it. I listen to CDs mostly and I have no complaints, the speakers take all that my receiver gives it. It's hard to believe that there is a break in period with these, they are going to sound even better after continual play. Klipsch is discontinuing the legend line of speakers, so if you have the opportunity to purchase them before they are gone, do so, you will not be disappointed. I bought a pair of KLF30's, KLF20's, C7, KSW300 and a Sony DVPS7700 and a KP53XBR200 tv. I have two rooms where I have tried all combinations with all equipement. I have found the combination I like best. the KLF20's with the C7 and subwoofer and cheaper rear sony speakers (4) around the tv. Then in the other room the KLF30's. A lot of people come over to my house that are in music and they also love the sound in both rooms. The KLF30's do not need a subwoofer. I have a function generator, sound meter and a scope that is both time and frequency based. The KLF start at 30 HZ and are clean at 35 HZ. They are also very clean and even over the entire frequency range. There is a difference in the rooms, one room is much more active than the other and I get reflections in it changing the sound some. I would spend time setting up your room for the best sound for any speaker system. There is information from Aurales Acoustics on how to do that. |
