Strength:

Wonderful, full, clean, crisp sound. Durable spekeaker case and speakers. Can be mounted on the wall with built in holes (just add screws and use the template in the manual). High quality speaker connectors. Great horn tweeter.

Weakness:

None at all for my use.

These make wonderful 5.1 surround speakers. I haven't tried them as mains because I have a great set of BOSTONs on the front. I read a bunch of reviews before purchacing them myself. I have not been dissapointed one bit. The sound truely fills my room with all 5.1 movies. I had been using YAMAHA 3 ways for the rear and changed to these because I wanted some lighter speakers to mount higher on the wall. These filled the bill perfectly. One thing I didn't expect was the durability. One day my son pulled on the speaker wire and the speaker came tumbling 7 feet off the wall. Luckily he wasn't hurt. The speaker still works fine and suffered only a slightly dented grill. My refrigerator bore the blunt of the impact and has a nice dent in it. If you don't want to spend hundreds of $$$ on excellent sounding speakers by a reputable manufacturer, you can not go wrong with these. I am highly impressed all the way around. Thanks Klipsch and thanks Ubid.com

Strength:

Excelent horn tweetwer, nice front port, options for racks in the back.

Weakness:

By its size, lack of bass.

Great speakers. I have my 6 Klipsch KSB 1.1 (6.1 mode), one KSC-C1 and my KSW 200 Sub, connected to my brand new DENON AVR-4802, and i can tell you that these speakers realy sound very good. I had these same speakers conected to my old YAMAHA RXV795, and when i changed my receiver, a completly new sound emerged from my old speakers !!! I'm very happy with them but eventualy i will upgrade them as i did with my receiver. Enjoy movies and music, thats life !!!

Strength:

Value, clairity

Weakness:

Best stated in another review. "None at this price"

Since procuring a pair of Klipsch 10.5's last year and being totally delighted with them. I have built a all Klipsch HT setup around them. Of all the wares I have purchased I put the least amount of money into the rears.
For $149 the 1.1's are a great buy. After making some dB adjustments at the source the 1.1's have risen to the challenge of sonically matching the 10.5's and KSC-C1. Overall I am very happy with these little guys.

Strength:

crisp, clear highs, decent bass response

These go louder than the Polks I had. The Polks distorted at 2/3 volume while these do NOT distort until almost full volume, and sound a lot better than the Polks. The Polks had a bit more bass, but there distorted easier, and the mid's sounded muffled as compared to the Klipschs. VERY good value for $45 a piece on Ubid. Far superior to the Polks. I use Polk RT55e bookshelves for my mains (European imported solid OAK cabinets) a polk CS175 center, and the KSB 1.1's for the surround. I could not hear the polks as surrounds until I turned down the volume on the mains... with the klipschs I can hear them clearly.
The system is powered by a Yamaha RX-V595 (70x5)connected to a Yamaha CDC-665 5 disc changer VIA optical digital output, and to my computer VIA the coaxial digital on the Sound Blaster Live! I must say, I can buy a CD, and make a standard 128 Kbps/44.1 KHZ quality MP3, and the mp3's sound just as good. And yes, the Klipsches are VASTLY superior to Bose.

Strength:

Superior sound quality for price range

Weakness:

None

Purchased from eBay auction...
These speakers are very surprising; I put a lot of faith in Klipsch's abilities after my purchase of the KSW 150 Powered Sub, (it rocks the house)and Klipsch did not dissapoint with the 1.1's.
The speakers are extremely sensitive, and will play beyond rated power without distortion.
I cannot find a peer for this speaker in this price range; I would have paid more, as these speakers are well worth more than $130 for the pair.
The warranty offered by Klipsch is five years, a testament to their own belief in speaker durability and quality.
Highly Recommended.

Strength:

Clean clear and smooth sound. Brilliant imaging with the Tactrix compression Horn Tweeters.

Weakness:

none for the money or speaker category.

I got these last summer and used them as my rear channel speakers. I am very very pleased with them I have used them in 3 ways. 1. as rear surrounds in a Dolby Pro logic configuration with a Harman Kardon Amp. 2. as Main speakers on a Harman Kardon Amp. 3. As main speakers with my new Pioneer NS-5 mini system.

I must say they do very well at all 3 applications. I am very impressed by the Klipsch Horn tweeter which is why they are so sensitive 92db which is to say damn sensitive for a bookshelf that can now be had at $100 a pair. NOBODY else has speakers that sensitive for that price. These little wonders sound marvelous with my NS-5 they have great imaging and they are very smooth they arent too bright and those who say they are have issues with their amplifier of CD player. These arent too bright, they sound like that because they are very sensitive and as such pick up every detail coming out of your amp. A cheaper pair of JBLs wont be as sensitive and wont be as clear. They may go lower but they will for sure get muddy down there at 50hz.

The Pioneer NS-5 is a brilliant value for a minisystem that has a motorized display and a tray loading cd player with a digital optical out. Not to mention its RcA imputs. If you want a really great set up that will make $500 mini systems sound like crap Get a pair of these Speakers and a NS-5 from Ubid.com and have a good listen. then go to a Best buy or a circuit city and listen to a $300 reciever with a $300 pair of bookshelf speakers of simmilar size and have a good laugh. There is no better Value for a student's dorm or office or small room than this configuration. NOT even the JVC systems. The Klipsch speakers are awesome for $120ish a pair. Thats very inexpensive for a good speaker today. The only other speakers out there that compete are the PSB alpha sold at hificiti.com who also sells KLIPSCH. Their motto is if they cant stand listening to it they dont sell it. They sell PSB and Klipsch. If you know anything about speakers you should know that Klipsch has been around for 50 years. and has been using the Horn tweeter and at $120ish a pair you can reap the benifits of their experience. Oh and PSB yes well their alpha is a bit more expensive but is just as good and has also recieved rave reviews from magazines. Just because you dont have a lot of $$$ doesnt mean that you have to listen to your music on a Cheap and crappy system. These days its tough to find it but Cheap and Cheerful does exist the KSB 1.1 is a fine example of good HiFi on a budget.

Strength:

Crisp clear sound, recessed binding posts, sturdy metal grill, ported, quality feel, (5 lbs), high effiecency rated.

Weakness:

None that I can report after 1 day of use.

After reviewing the comments here, DVD Talk, checking prices, and talking to my UPS driver about the many U-bid orders he delivers to customers (ie: good deals). I placed a bid on 4 of these Klipsch 1.1's. They arrived last night, I hooked them up to my Onkyo TXDS-575, Cerwin Vega E76-C Center, and KLH 10" powered sub.

I was amazed. Even my wife, who once told me she couldn't tell the difference between my sucky Pioneer Pro-Logic, and Onkyo's 575 DD, said WOW! We watched "The Game" last night until midnight and even with our 6 month old sleeping upstairs in our townhouse we were able to play the movie at a lower level but enjoy MUCH richer, but louder seeming sound without waking our daughter.

Earlier that evening after hooking up the system I played
T-2's opening scenes with my 12 year old at a volume louder than that night, and when the robot crunched down on some metal, she JUMPED! Not knowing too much about HT she told me that the picture looked clearer! I know that good sound improves the HT experience, but her remarks are a very good independent recommendation about the quality of these speakers! CLEARER!!!!

My former Pioneer surrounds were bandwith rating at 100 Hz - 20 Khz, My new 1.1's are rated at 65 Hz - 20Khz. I was not sure how important this was until I did a bit of research on the matter. I will now be able to hear details and richness lacking from my former speakers.

Also the Pioneers did not even rate the sensitivity, but I have learned that the higher the number the better! The 1.1's at 92db are VERY efficient!

My recommendation is BUY 4 of these speakers + powered subwoofer (30 Hz or less) and you'll be in HT heaven!

Strength:

Small size, clarity, ability to play at high volumes without distortion, great soundstage and imaging. Very reasonable price.

Weakness:

Metal grille that cannot be removed. Can be a little bright.

These little things still amaze me sometimes. I'am running two sets as my mains and rears paired with a SC1 center and a Paradigm PDR10 sub with an Onkyo TXDS575. The KSB line has been discontinued and replaced with the SB line. To me they are identical accept for a different material for the cone, a 90x60 horn instead of a 90x40 horn and the port in on the back instead of the front. If you can find a set of KSB1.1 around you should be able to get them pretty cheap. I got mine for 225 Canadian. If not you'll have to spend the extra cash for a set of SB1 monitors.

There have been serveral occations when I turned my receiver on, stuck it in stereo mode and could have sworn the center channel was still being powered. Listening to acoutic tracks with vocals I could place every instrument on the soundstage. It takes a lot of volume to get these things to distort. Haven't been brave enough to take them that high, they get to uncomfortable listening levels before they begin to distort. I also believe this is where the horns can become to bright and harsh. Since the speaker isn't distorting you don't realize quite how loud you have it, and it's the volume and not the horn tweeter that is hurting the ears.

For music and home theater use they are likely amoung the best high end entry level speaker you can get. Every type of music I throw at them has been very faithfully reproduced. Brass and string instruments in classical records are just a joy to listen too.

They do just as well in home theater use. At high volumes the Matrix lobby shooting spree can cause you to flinch the gun shots are so loud and clear.

In both cases however, although they can put out a surprising amount of bass you will enjoy them a lot more with a good sub. They just can't produce low enough frequencies. In the hall of the Mountain King sounds completely different when played with a good sub then it does with just the KSB1.1s.

I am very pleased with these speakers. They should keep me happy till I am out of school and probably several years beyond that. Do not over look these speakers if you are looking to make an inexpensive foray into hometheater.

Strength:

Small, Horn Loaded design allows for clear trebble

Weakness:

a bit bright

Good sound for a small speaker. The hi's are very clear. At first, they sounded too bright but some tweeking of my equalizer fixed the problem and they sound great now. Not as much bass as I was hoping, but I just purchased a KSW-12 so that shouldn't be a problem. Good deal for 140$ For overall quality, they get a four and a half, but they are such a good value, I have to give em all five.

Strength:

Sound very clear, good bass for size. Come in white or black. Excellent price.

Weakness:

None.

After being fed up with not finding any satellite systems that sounded good enough for my house, I decided to get larger speakers and arrange them in the same concept. I use the 1.1's for my rear surround speakers and they are awesome! Of course they balance perfectly with my system because I use the Klipsch 2.1's for the front mains, and the KSC-C1 for the center. Also with my system is an 8" Yamaha powered subwoofer and it's all driven with an Onkyo TX-DS575 receiver and the DV-C600 DVD/CD player. I was worried that the little speakers wouldn't have enough bass, but between the audio components and the sub, I have bass to spare! I highly recommend this setup. I have never heard such a clean crisp sounding system in all my life! It may be a bit bright for some, but that's just how I like it.
