Strength:

Outstanding clarity on surround sounds effects. Wide dispersion. Great bass.

Weakness:

None that I noticed yet.

I replace my Bose 141 with Klipsch KSB 1.1 and I am very delighted. They very accurately reproduce surround sound effects. Try watching Armagaddeon and listen to the meteors coming into New York. You are there. I use them with Klipsch KSB 3.1 for my fronts, Klipsch KSF-C5 for the center channel, and Klipsch KSW10 Sub. These are the best speakers on the market in my opinion. KSB 1.1 can be purchased at Vanns.com for $140.00 a pair if you sign up as a club member which is free.

Strength:

Low Cost, Light Weight

Weakness:

Bright metalic sound, slight ringing or echo.

I purchased a pair of these speakers from Ubid for $108 shipped. After reading the reviews posted here I was really looking forward to getting these speakers. I am using them as rear channels in a surround sound setup. The front and center channels are Polks.

They work fairly well as rear speakers. The speakers are more than a little bright. And there seems to always be a slight echo or ringing present. The best way I can describe it is they have the sound of portable stereo with Q-sound on. The brightness also creates a bit of a hiss during extremely quiet scenes. A decent speaker for rear channels, (The rain in Unforgiven sounded great!) but not a giant killer by any means.

Many reviewers however have recommended them as fronts or music speakers. They just do not perform well here. Invest a little bit more and purchase a more complete sounding speaker.

Strength:

Clean, clear midrange and high frequencies.

Weakness:

Bass is limited, but not 'muddy'.

After reading reviews, I purchased four (4) Klipsch KSB 1.1 speakers from U-Bid ($250) to start building a Home Theater system. I have a Denon AVR 87 (same as AVR 1800). After setting up the Klipsch in four corners, I must say the old Ohms are, well quite dated! The midrange and highs are very good. The speakers fill in my listening room (14' X 17') to the point I can not point at the music source at low or high volume. It is every where! The front speakers will not remain as the mains, but I will parallel as a hard working center speaker system. I am unsure of the new mains but I am thinking either Klipsch 8.5 towers or perhaps a step up. I can tell you these speakers do have a slight 'Q' sound as mentioned later in this forum. This will disappear in 'the big picture'. I have mild bass from these speakers with the Denon bass turned up +12 db. The tweeters are not harsh sounding on the Denon AVR 87, in fact I prefer +2 db boost. These speakers can not be used as a main as the size is just too small, but the Klipsch try real hard! I am pleased with the dollars spent. I give five (5) stars for value and (3.5) stars for performance. (I once listened to a $100,000+ system with custom manufactured solid state amps- whew!).

Strength:

Great sound, small speaker, great clarity

Weakness:

none

These are a great little set of speakers. I bought them brand new off of Ubid for about $105 with shipping and they are well worth the money and then some. I am using them with an Onkyo reciever as rear speakers, but right now they are being used as my front speakers because one of my new jbl's in the shop already. These speakers work great for movies and especially music. The acoustics are awesome and the bass is also much more than I expected from a speaker this size.

Strength:

Clear mid and high frequencies. Solid bass.

Weakness:

A bit too loud when combined with less efficient speakers.

I have had these babies for 3 months now and I love them. Great sound and a good surround speaker if placed properly. They are a bit loud for my front magnepans but my Yamaha dsp-595a took care of that with its adjustments. My only complaint is with the a..ole distributor in Greece who sells them wholesale for $220 so I bought them retail for $300. Are you listening Klipsch? No more Klipsch unless the pricing policy changes. 5 stars for performance. 3 stars for price.

Wow! these little guys are amazing. I am using 4 on belogotti stands, with a sc1 center and a ksp 10 sub, got them all online and at a discount. Paid more for the stands than the 1.1s lol. this system rivals almost every surround system iI have heard. The klipsh will run on almost no power but when givin pure 100 watts per channel they come to life as to almost boggle your comprehension. Now this is hard for me to admit as I have been a devout JBL user for 20 years but the klipsh line is second to none. While playing the final fight scene in END OF DAYS I swear I felt the devil himself was in my house. for under $700 you too can have state of the art on a buget!

Strength:

Excellent over all sound quality. Great highs and mid. Voice quality is amazing.

Weakness:

for its size and price, If I had to say something it would be bass. It can put out descent bass for its size but the bass setting on the reciever needs to go way up. When this is done the bass does come through and is very tight. They need a boost, but not bad for the 5 1/2 inch woofer.

These are great little speakers. I'm just 16 year old getting into good audio equipment and competing with my friends. The kick the sh** out of satellites that came with my friends $500 surround sony system. Also the tweeter is much better than those on my brothers Bose 201 series III. Much crisper. Some say it is harsh but it doesn't bother me. I use them for only music, and they work great with a small sony sub and a kenwood dolby digital 100 per channel watt reciever. They are also better than their Boston Acoustics counterpart. I think the CR6 or CR7

Strength:

Up-front sound, crisp, clean, Klipsch reputation, 5-year warranty.

Weakness:

Relative to the competition in this size and price range there is no weakness. If I had to choose one thing, however, I would say this: Make sure that you attach these speakers to quality components because the sound reproduction is so accurate that it will bring out warts and all.

I was in the market for my first bona-fide home theater and I had no preconceptions about brand names to fall back on-- just my ear. At the outset I decided that any speaker that would make it into my theater set-up would have to pass the two speaker, music-only test. With this in mind I set out to audition as many as possible. I listened to Infinity, Bose, Polk, Boston, B&W, etc.-- yet the Klipsch SB1.1 blew everything away.

These speakers are so in-your-face, that sounds as if I'm on stage. Precisely because they sound so up-front, they first struck me as being louder than all the other speakers that I toggled through in the demo room. A quick check of receiver volume levels made clear that the loudness of the Klipsch relative to the others was created by the fact that Klipsch delivers all of its frequencies in a tight range without adding, for lack of better terms, artificial depth or ambiance. While you might expect a speaker of this description to sound flat or harsh, it was anything but. Klipsch has done an excellent job delivering straight sound purity without gimmicks.

These speakers make every instrument sound uncolored, natural and smooth. While most speakers seem to emphasize the bass and the treble at the expense of mid-range clarity, Klipsch delivers balance all the way around--something that may at first sound odd if that's not what you normally hear in the speakers you own. Even the bass, for such a small speaker, is quite impressive.

Conclusion:

After auditioning speakers twice their size and after buying not one but two pairs, I can say that this speaker, in my humble opinion, puts many others to shame. Yes, if you crank it up just about any speaker will make you feel as if you are on stage. But thanks to its purity, Klipsch accomplishes the same at much lower volumes, which is handy if you want the benefits of clear dialog and mids without disturbing nearby neighbors or family members with the exaggerated bass that often goes hand-in-hand with volume level increases. Moreover, the sound quality that Klipsch delivers when hooked up in the store to a $2,000 Denon THX receiver remained true after being hooked up to my recently purchased HarmanKardon AVR 510.

Ultimately, there's no right or wrong choice when it comes to speakers. You choose what sounds right to your ear. If you plan to buy a set of SB1.1's, however, look soon because they are being replaced by a new series which, according to my own ear, has been toned down to sound *slightly* more like the competition. Of course, when the competition is what you're used to, the Klipsch sound may sound overly bright. But give it a week or two and you too may do a 180: everything else, by comparison, sounds artificial, compressed or dull.

Strength:

absolutely everything! These are the best sounding bookshelf speakers that I have ever heard. They have pristine treble, and smooth, not muddy, bass.

Weakness:

NONE!

I started with Bose, and then learned my lesson. The only quality product that they make is the Wave Radio, which I still listen to for background music. On to the point.

I know that I paid more than most of the people here, but I felt that they were worth that price. They easily outperform my friend's bose 301's. In those speakers, the design provides the listener with all of the mids you could ever want, and more. Not so with the Klipsch! The horn tweeters provide the listener with a facade full of sound. I do have a sub, but when I listen to jazz, I usually leave it off. Yes, the bass is limited, but I would rather have limited smooth bass than muddy, boomy deep bass. Any audiophile will agree with me on this. The mids are the best I've ever heard. They play acoustic music even better than a planar! I love Jim Brickman, and on my Bose (any of them), I would hear hisses for the high notes. With the Klipsch, I can hear the keys plink like never before. I plan on staying with Klipsch for the rest of my life. Looks like Paul Klipsch had the right idea that a properly designed horn was the best way to produce sound.
