Strength:

Very compact, Great sound

Weakness:

nothing really for price and size

These are great speakers. I got them for cheap and now i just need the center channel speaker to match em. If you want a cheap speaker that sounds pretty cool get these.

Strength:

Looks great, small, klipsch warranty, great rear channel speakers, efficient.

Weakness:

Lacks bass and presence.

These speakers have their place and that is as rear channel speakers. Don't even think of using these as main front speakers. They lack presence and have minimal bass and are a little harsch. Having said this, they are a great rear channel speakers. Although they don't excell at anything, they are full bodied enough to provide all the suround sound effects that you need without addding distortion to the sound field.
I bought these at U-Bid for the above price and for the dollar I am very pleased with them. For someone on a budget these fit the bill. If you are into high-end audio and are willing to pay double what these cost. These are not the speakers for you. For use poor folk that are concious of our audio dollar these are a deal at $100.00 a pair.

AR, Mission. I have connected these to an older AR receiver and a new Onkyo surrond sound system. They sound similar on each.

Strength:

Efficient, wall mountable, decent bass for size

Weakness:

Veiled far highs, inaccurate bass, noisy port

See my detailed review in the AR 215 section.

I ordered several bookshelf speakers, and even though both my girlfriend and brother-in-law prefer the Klipsch SB 1.1 over the AR 215 due to them being "louder and having more bass", I think the Klipsch is artificially boosted in the upper midrange with too much top end roll-off and too muddy in the bass.

That being said, the Klipsch is a great sounding speaker compared to other low-end stuff (KLH, Bose). They simply put out a LOT of sound for their size, and are superbly flexible in mounting and location. Put these in a corner properly and you'll think you have some 8" woofers - until you ask to play at a bit more than moderate level with bass heavy music, when the bass port start to "whoosh". ;-0

Overall, a great dorm or home theater speaker, I would say, for folks that have a limited budget and space. Personally I prefer a more "european" sound, so I preferred the flatter but brighter sound of the AR 215s (which I kept but will need a small subwoofer to complement the sub-100Hz range). The Klipsch made vocals and acoustic instruments like guitar and brass sound like they were in front of the soundstage, yet covered with a cloth. Not terrible, but obvious when doing the A/B comparison (which I did often enough to drive my girlfriend crazy). ;-)

If there is a single thing that spoils me from moving my overall rating to four stars it's that whooshing from the bass port - it makes the bass seem "muddier" than it really is. Maybe I'm just asking too much of this size of a speaker, but I can deal more easily with the lesser but cleaner bass on the AR 215 (which distort when pushed too hard, but not until they are truly at their excursion limit and have NO port "whooshing"). I would think Klipsch would pay more attention to port velocity issues, given that they are the "masters" of efficient horn-loaded and ported speakers. Then again, this is a low-end product for them and at just over $100 a pair, I am probably being unfair.

I haven't heard any comments on the klipsch ksb1.1's yet.Well I will have to be the first. I have had bic, infinity, cambridge, and even the bose 301's.The klipsch 1.1 puts everyone of the others to shame. The highs, lows and mids are great. The only problem I have is the 92db's sensitivity.I can't find a center channel to keep up with them. I have a dcm with 95 db's but still can't keep up.I think it will have to do because I can't get klipsch in my area anymore since Sun tv went out of business.

I am using a pair of KSB 1.1's for the rear channels. The blend very well with the front (pair of Klipsch Chorus II's,
and a Klipsch CF7 center channel speaker). They are made well,
sound good, and are priced right ($99 a piece or less). I am
using the optional SAT-5 mounting brackets. My only complaint
is that the SAT-5 mounting brackets really don't seem sturdy
enough to support these speakers in an arbitrary position.
Klipsch really doesn't recommend using these as rear speakers
because they are very directional (Klipsch makes surround
specific speakers that with dual horn assemblies that have
a broader dispersion pattern). Even so, I think they sound
fine.

I'm using these speakers as the rear surround sound channel and I'm very pleased. I have A Denon Receiver, Klipsch ksf 10.5 towers, Klipsch ksc-c1, and a velodyne sub. When I put my receiver on 5 channel stero mode these speakers really bring the music to life. They add incredible highs and midrange sounds to my system. They also sound very good with movies, however they don't surround you with sound like some rear speakers do.

I purchased these speakers to act as my front effects speakers for my home theater set-up. I am using a Yamaha DSP A1 as my amp, KLF30's for mains, CF4 center, KG 3.5 for rears and a KSW200 for my sub. Overall, they do enhance the sound field for home theater. Work well with the rest of the system.

These are some really nice sounding speakers! I had some BOSE AM-5's (yeah, I know, but I was younger then) and these BLEW them away! I mean these little guys are unreal for the sound they reproduce. Nothing in the store came close. And for only $149.00 for the pair...the BOSE are now a yard sale item! They sound great with Klipsch KLF-20's,KSW-200,C-5 and Yamaha DSP-A1. Buy them! You'll love them!

I found these speakers to be great. I just upgraded from the BOSE AM-10's. Yes I said upgraded. I thought that I was buying the "STATE OF THE ART" speakers systems when I bought the BOSE but boy I was wrong. The 1.1's bring sounds out of my DVD player that I never heard before. For the size of the speakers and price I've got to give these guys a "5".

I bought these Klipsched after reading the reviews here and comparing them to the Paradigm Mini Monitor. Well at the store the KSB's sounded beter, very detailed highs, after I hooked them up at home, dark and too much highs!!! I got a headache after about 15 minutes, packed them up and I am going to take them back. Good bass and can handle a lot. But too dark and not bright but jsut too much highs, it was like to was right in my face, poor imaging..These aren't worth the 150$ I paid for them, I am going back to my Bose 301's series 4, and looking at the Mini Monitors next..
