Strength:

Crystal clear highs. Deep, tight bass. Perfect soundstage. Plus, they just look cool.

Weakness:

They can't do my Calc 3 homework.

Get off the internet now, get some money out of the bank, and go buy these speakers. I suprise myself with these speakers every day. They just sound so REAL. They are perfectly balanced... not too bright, not too warm. If it sounds too warm, they are probably too close to your walls. Plus, these babies get loud. I had a girl in the apartment above me come down and tell me to turn my stereo down (Matrix, on DVD was playing) because we were MOVING her couch. The soundstage is so good, its just sick. If you close your eyes, and try to point to where the sound of an instrument is coming from, and open your eyes back up, you will be pointing to an empty spot on your wall. And for their price, you can't beat em. The next best speakers I heard at any store near my house, were B&Ws, and those cost a cool grand for the pair. You can easily find these speakers for under the MSRP of 850. I also listened to JBL, Cerwin Vega, Infinity, Polk, Paradigm, Boston Accoustics, ARs, Bose (yuck), MB Quarts, and B&Ws. The only thing near as good as these were the Paradigms, Infinitys, BAs, Quarts, and B&Ws. The Paradigms were too warm, Infinities were too bright, BAs bottomed out when you pushed them at all, Quarts were good, but not live enough sounding. Like I said, the B&Ws were better, but also $300 more.

Strength:

Handles high frequencies well and sounds and looks good overall.

Weakness:

Compared to the cheaper SF-2's, lack of the same wonderful bass which is warm, tight and accurate. Very heavy, if that is an issue. (If I have to air-freight them internationally, it will leave me for dead)

I just returned a pair of SF-2's for a pair of RF-3's. I must say that I am very dissapointed with a first listen. Its early to say. I used all the same sources right down to the same music tracks. I found the SF-2's to have very tight and accurate bass. Totally absent in the RF-3(so far - maybe its all this break-in stuff which I am yet to believe - the SF-2's sounded good from day 1). I am just wondering why they priced them so much higher. What was "apparent" were the colored cones and the excessive weight. To be fair, I think they handled some frequencies well like some sounds which I "may" not have had earlier. I am NOT a bass freak. Note - I was listening to the SF-2's at flat freq and it sounded excellent. I did not test them side by side. The RF3's might do better for high freq's. Not significantly, if your listening at a moderate level. With the SF's, I did not even feel the need for a sub, since the sound was so balanced. Any light on why this is so would be appreciated !

4 stars because I compared it to the SF-2's which were cheaper, much ligher and sounded better "overall", IMHO. IF it had the same or even slightly better bass, I would give it 6 out of 5 !

Weakness:

none yet

i listened to monitor, psb, paradigm, nht,b&w,phase technology and others before choosing these amazing speakers.only paradigm monitor 9's were a close 2nd.these tower speakers are easy to place in a room and you really don't need to use a subwoofer with them.they are suitable for music and home theater equally.at this price level these are a must to audition before you buy.

Strength:

you name it. price especially.

Weakness:

they are a little large. but at least they are built well. bass could be a little better buy with a subwoofer, no problem.

i just got my reference series klipsch speakers. rf-3, rs-3 rc-3. i am not one of these guys who measures my speakers output with an rf meter or whatever. i just like my home to sound like the movie theater. i own bose and listened to polk audio before i bought these, and then stopped at my local klipsch dealer (buy online they are much cheaper) and after just a few seconds my mind was made up. if you are in the market, listen to these before you buy anything. i cant believe what i got for the price i paid. nothing short of awesome. i am always buying and selling speakers but i am finished, i plan to hang on to these for a long time. these speakers are very efficient and sound great in my opinion. get these speakers!!!

Strength:

High Sensitivity, Crisp clear highs, loud clear mids, decent bass.

Weakness:

Grills looks like it is easy to break, the supplied feet did not fit properly.

Everybody looks for something different in a pair of speakers, I looked for the ablity to reproduce a flat, natural and live sound. By live I mean that the sound is identical to its source.

The horn tweeters are truely amazing, they cover all of the highs and upper mids. The two 8" woofer handle the lower mids and bass which is also helped by the rear port. The combonation of the three speakers makes the sound flow without holding anything back.

The day after I purchased the pair, I spent about 8 hours listening to music. A solo acoustic guitar was the only instrument that did not sound correct. Everything from vocals to horns to string sounded excellent. The high sensitivty allows the speakers to sound full at low levels.

By the end of next week I plan to buy the rear and center speakers to match.

All the Klipsch speakers output life like sound, but the RF-3s did a better job than the others in the reference line.

Receiver : Sony STR-DB940 - output
CD Player : Sony CDP-CE525 - source

Strength:

crisp clear sound.with graet tweeters!

Weakness:

small weakness(if you have kids)the grills.

after opening these babys witch are very heavy and solid. and have great spike feet, i plugged them in to my reciever. witch theses speakers have wonderfull gold dual binding post.the sound was awsome. the horn tweeters are very smooth with 8 inch woofers that are very very tight. the Rf3's are like a new engine the more you drive it and run it the better it get's. the same case with the Rf3's after 3 months of listing to these bad puppys the better they sounded. must have speakers. do not pass these speakers up!
but if your looking to buy some good speakers with alot and i mean alot of bass, test them at your local high end dealer!

Strength:

gets better at very high volumes

Weakness:

hard to find a suitable ampli

based on many reviews here and a few hours of` listening in a store i bought klpsch rf3 for hime hi-fi listening. i have spend the whole 10 days listening to almost all my cds of classicla , jazz and rock. insted of my old denon pma 350 50w, i tried two pre-power combinations, rotel rc972+rb981, and adcom gfa 502+5500. but havent beee satisfied at low levels. when i turn the sound up up to half volume it rocks the place but who can listen that loud at home for more than a minute.

so i am looking for the right ampli system to be able to drive klisch without blowing my head off.

i just want to have a rich sound in this 50sq m, or 450 sq feet room.

or have i done the wrong purchase...are they better for HT? i dont care for HT... yet. my budged is 1000-2000$

thank you for yor quick response
