PART ONE I have now had these speakers for over a year. My system is set up as follows: Klipsch RF-3''s Klipsch RS-3''s Klipsch RC-3 Onkyo Integra DTR7.1 Receiver Onkyo DVC-601 DVD Sony 61" Video Monitor When I started the journey to upgrade my ancient system to the 21st century and the "home theater" package, I was not exactly sure of where to start. I knew I wanted a "nice" kick-ass system, but the last time I went shpping for stereo equipment was when I was still in the service 20 years earlier. That system I was still using and was made up of a Sansui Pure Power Receiver G8700(MEGA WATTS!), Pioneer RT-707 Reel to Reel, Pioneer CT-1000 Cassette deck, Bose 901 IV speakers, and a cheap Kenwood CD player added on. I did my research online and at the local "high end" audio store (California Soundworks...great guys). After using this site to read reviews I narrowed my speaker selection down to Paradigm or Klipsch. I then made repeated trips to the audio store where they had both of these speakers in various models on the floor running through various HT receivers. The Paradigm''s seemed to be very "efficient" speakers, reminding me of the old ESS "sound of light" speakers, which were very good speakers in their day. The Klipsch RF-3''s made you feel like you were actually sitting in front of the musicians themselves. Very pure and true sound. So...I bought them (from Sounddistributors.com...sorry California Soundworks) and hooked them up to my Sansui. WOW!!! I was in heaven. I love LOUD music and these speakers love to be fed POWER. My Sansui was in love. I was so impressed I literally picked up the phone and ordered the rest of the surround system (RS-3''s/RC-3). While I awaited the arrival of the other 3 speakers I went back to California Soundworks and bought the Onkyo Integra DTR 7.1 HT Receiver that they used to preview the speakers in the showroom. I figured if they worked good up there, they should work good for me. NOT!! The speakers took on a totally different sound with the Integra. I could not understand how I could lose sound quality after spending $1100 on a HT receiver and especially when it sounded so awesome in the showroom. Quick call to the experts and they sold me some gold connections and Monster Cable...what a difference speaker cable makes! I will continue in PART 2

Strength:

Tight Efficient Bass Clear Crisp Sound Versitile for both Music and Home Theater

Weakness:

Not available in woodgrain finish (when I bought them)

These speakers have a great all arround sound. They are well suited for both Music (Rock/Pop/Country) and Home Theater. I am currently not running a subwoofer, however most people who have watched movies at my house have wondered where I keep my subwoofer. The base is tight and the sound is incredibly clear, a great bargain.

Strength:

Sound quality far exceeding their price point. Solid bass, transparent involving sound.

Weakness:

Speaker grills are too fragile, soundsatge is a little narrow (placement is critical)highs can be a little bright on some recordings.

This is a follow up to my previous review dated 26 January 2002. I''''m happy to contradict my earlier review that these speakers lack bass. This is not the case at all. I tried auditioning the much larger (and more expensive) RF7''''s, and they didn''''t justify the price differential. In the end I corrected the lack of bass by changing my signal source (for music) from a Toshiba 2108 DVD palyer to a Musical Fidelity A3 CD player. What an amazing difference to the sound. The bass from the RF3''''s is excellent now - taught, punchy and weighty. In summary, these speakers can and will deleiver the goods, provided you drive them with a high qaulity signal source and decent amplification.

Strength:

accuracy, high sensitivity,realistic sound

Weakness:

no overload protective devices, aluminium cones can be fold by little child

a great speaker for audiophile beginner, the RF-3 is a excellent louspeaker with incredible price, its high sensitivity is useful when are driven by high quality but low power amplifiers o receivers. RF-3 sound is very natural, not colored and not distorted. any type of music sounds very real(with good quality recordings), aluminium woofers delivers both articulated bass and midrange sounds. the RF-3 loudspeakers are suitable for listeners whom look for a natural sound.

These speakers are the best I have heard for the money. In fact when listening to an opera on cd, I almost thought someone else was talking in the same room. An excellent product.

Strength:

None so far.

Weakness:

Grill are kind of fragile. So be careful when moving them around. The speakers also weighs a ton.

These speakers are definitely worth the money spend. Sound produced from these speakers are simply awesome. Bass is tight on mids and highs. Very crisp and clear sound from dvd player. A lot of people have stressed that placement is very important and that is absolutely true. Just follow what the manual recommends if possible. For even clearer sound, you might want to use monster cable for connection to your receiver. These speakers are surely for keeps.

Strength:

"Live", dynamic sound that literally jumps out at you.

Weakness:

None.

Since buying these speakers, I have been telling my friends that there are "live" instruments in my living room. I listen to a variety of music (rock, blues, classical) and everything sounds great. The sound accuracy is incredible. The bass is tight and the highs sparkle with realism. I could not find comparable sound quality at 2 to 3 times the price (except for other Klipsch models).

Strength:

For dual 8"inch woofers, bass output is real good, and horn loaded tweeter puts out a pleasing sound of highs to the ears.

Weakness:

Grill could''ve been designed better. It can be easily broken, but it''s not the grill your listening to anyway, so just be careful in that field.

The Klipsch RF-3 Floorstanding Speakers have got to be one of the best pair of main speakers in it''s class. Bass is definetly surprising to the ears and highs is just as crisp as speakers probably twice the price. For the money, don''t hesitate to buy these babies.

Strength:

Utopia in a box

Weakness:

The speakers do take several hours of use to break in, but it is well worth the wait.

For the price, these can''t be beat. Extremely efficient speakers, great sound, and an underrated bass output. These are used in a surround sound set up (with the entire Klisph Reference series spkrs), and they are incredible. I run them with a Denon 2802 receiver, and they not only fill up a room just over 20 x 20, but my entire house (no walls, open layout). While shopping, I was able to listen to them side by side with the Paradigms using the same receiver (a Yamaha RV 620). The efficiency of the speaker is so noticeable, you couldn''t help but smile. I am still smiling with this purchase. For this price, I couldn''t find anything better.

Strength:

very dynamic speaker, very good value, instruments have depth sound is well separated

Weakness:

narrow sweet spot titanium tweeter

I really like these speakers. I find even bad music sounds good on them, because you can really appreciate the sounds of the instruments. I have them hooked up to an Onkyo receiver, with Monster cable of some sort. A month ago I biwired them and was surprised to find the base much more precise and distinct. I had expected the biwiring to improve the tweeter response. I have my speakersless than a foot from the wall and 7'' apart in an equilateral triangle. The sweet spot is very narrow, one listener at a time. I have a rather muddy Pioneer sub left over from my previous bookshelf speaker setup, turned down low, amplifying the lowest bass. I didn''t do a lot of research before buying these, but in reading reviews of speakers, these had been bought by a lot of people and almost everyone was really pleased with them. They''re not perfect. I think a silk dome tweeter sounds smoother, but it is a surprisingly dynamic speaker for the price. I listen to music more often now, and since setting them up I''ve been sitting down and listening to them for an hour or two every night, just listening to the music and doing absolutely nothing else, something I''ve never been in the habit of doing before. They really do sound very nice. I find they have an optimum volume, not a loud volume because they do sound good at a low volume just better at an optimum volume, but that could just be my ears. I''d love to try them with a good qulaity tube amp, and better quality cable, just out of curiosity.
