Strength:

incredibly clear accurate reproduction,reasonable size

Weakness:

none as long as you don't mind black

when i first heard these speakers at the shop they literally brought tears to my eyes. we had gone there to buy a klipsch shelf model, but when the sf-2's were switched on (playing live Dire Straits), i had found the clean, natural sound i'd been listening for for many years. the highs are bright and airy, midrange is extremely well defined and driving, and bass, depending a great deal on speaker placement and power source, is tight and incredibly deep for the small drivers used. these all blend seamlessly and soar from wall to wall in a wide and deep soundstage. i almost immediately began searching for a new amp to really bring out their potential. due to their high degree of sensitivity (96db), a lot of power isn't needed, but finding a really great sounding amp with moderate output took a lot of research and auditioning. my ultimate choice was the NAD C-350 integrated amplifier. modestly rated at 60W, it drives the sf-2's beautifully. (see review in the integrated amp section.) i would stack this combination up against any at many times the price. this amp really compliments the qualities of the speakers. the bass is now thunderous without being the least bit muddy. mids jump at you, and highs are thrilling. a perfect match for anyone looking for great components at a decent price. although the sf-2's seem to have been conceived for instrumental jazz such as Coltrane or John Scofield, a personal favorite, they'll kick butt slamming out Cult, Iron Maiden, Tool, etc. or softly soothe with Bach or Enya. eclectic as well as accurate.

Strength:

Pretty much everything

Weakness:

not the best on highs.

I still have the radio shack Pros for the center and surround but i listened to these and several more speakers while shopping for a new receiver. Well, let me say it was really easy to buy this pair of speakers and a lot harder to find a receiver i liked. The first time i heard these speakers i KNEW i had to have them. Excellent sound. The only gripe i have is that my radioshack speakers had more highs which i find really off, but it is because of the Linaeum tweeter i suppose. Highly recommended.

Strength:

Good MIDs and HIGHS, video shielded

Weakness:

A little lack of bass

Overall great speakers for the $550 - $650 price range. If you are going to get a subwoofer then they are ideally suited for HT. RT-800 did not sound as warm or clear, SF-1 lack of bass was too much and the RS-5 are in a category way below these speakers. I listened to all using my Yamaha 595A, the incredible efficiency of the Klipsch is great for my 70/85 watt receiver. Paid $560 at a certified dealer.

Just not what I expect from Klipsch

I went to a local (nearest store was 100 miles away) electronics store and auditioned them. I was sold on their specs and the price is very appealing. They sounded rather nice, BUT, I compared them to the RF-3 and the RF-3 blew them away. The SF-2 just seemed dead in comparison. Maybe I should be reviewing the RF-3's, but, there is already plenty happy consumers with those. Anyway, for a speaker with a $650.00 MSRP, I would not recommend them when compared the $800.00 MSRP of the RF-3. The difference in price is well worth it.

Strength:

Crisp, clear and plays very loud

Weakness:

none

Well, what can i say about these speakers? They were the best speakers for the price that looked at. I would say they could rivel speakers with the price of 1000 or higher. They are absolutly great. These will be the loudest speakers with the most accuracy. If you are the type of person that likes your music loud, without sacrificing accuracy these are your speakers. Not only do they sound great but they have a touch of elegance. Also you should note that you don't have to have great gear to make these speakers sing, they are highly efficient, so you don't have to have alot of power. I recommend these speakers to anybody, they've made me very happy.

Sound Stage, clear and present midrange, great imaging, small footprint, nice bass. It's Alive...

Weakness:

Well, I exchanged my SF-1's for the SF-2's. Clearly, the SF-2's offer more sound and value for the money. For the price the SF-1 are great, but if you can afford the SF-2's go for it. Well worth the additional $200. The SF-2's offer better midrange sound and, in my opinion, seem to work less hard in producing better overall sound than the SF-1's.

Below, Tedd mentioned that the RF-3 "blew the SF-2 away". I wonder if Ted understands that the RF-3's are more efficient than the SF-2? Side by side, switching from one to the other, the RF-3's sound Louder, but not better. This is the efficiency factor of the RF-3's. All speakers are larger in the RF-3 unit. Simply turn the sound up a little and the SF-2's sound the same...and that sound is great. Hun Shik Kim said that the SF-2 sounded fatigued after a few hours of use. I haven't noticed this problem, but will post a note if I do in the future. I wonder if Hun has spent the time required to break in is speakers? So many speaker reviews here are premature...as in before the break in time has been completed.

These are wonderful speakers. I would suggest them to anyone and challenge them against some of the best at higher prices. For the investment, these speakers offer great sound to value. Go and listen to them...your ears will understand.

Strength:

full sound

Weakness:

A little weak on extremely high pitched sounds.

I have had these speakers for about 7 months now and am still very happy with them. When I purchased these speakers it was after extensive soundroom tests. The only other speakers I liked for around the same pricerange were a pair of Polk Audio towers. The sound is very full and has plenty of bass for those people not interested in digital surround sound. Dolby digital requires a sub so these are kind of overkill. My only other gripe is that the center channel for these speakers is huge. I give them a rating of 4 because there are better speakers out there, but they of course cost more.

Strength:

Natural sound - no coloration. Very neutral sound reproduction.

Weakness:

Limited to one "color". Black wood-grain.

The above mentioned price was for BOTH speakers if you can believe that !!! The guys at Sound Advice had the promotional "two for the price of one" going. What a lucky break!

OK, as for the sound that these speakers busy themselves with: peerless clarity. The subtle nuances in the music are more present and stage-front than with other speakers I have both owned and rued. My Cerwins blew out after 13 1/2 years of musical bliss - the woofer foam was spewed out during a performance of Boston's "Third Stage" -- guess they couldn't take my crap any longer. That was a sad day. I felt like I lost a dog or something when they fell apart like that. So down to the local trafficer of sundry audio wares. With cash still hot on their counter, I quickly made my way home to see if these new additions would be able to stand up to my abuse. They have.

And as for value; well, let's just say that I feel a bit embarrassed to have such fine speakers in my house after paying so little.
