Rip off for $1000. Can't expect bass but that is not suprising for a 28pound speaker. Small, weak, and low SPL just like Bose and Sony. Midrange
and treble should scream 125 db of cymbal crashing concert and can for a
fifth of the cost. Also with an equally clear sound and flat response.
Mids and tweeters are cheap(compared to woofers) and you shouldn't have to
shell out $1000. Thats more like the cost of a high end subwoofer(passive).
May be a robust 300w RMS(a lot for a mid or tweeter)but will burn out
due to puny voice coil at high volumes(under 2 in.).

I think the IP address guy was rude, but I would say the Legacy Studio is a poor choice in this price range. There are a number of excellent speakers that far out-distance this product for the money. The bass is ok but the sound was very, very boxy and confined(at least in the midfield setup I heard in their Springfield showroom)and I was wondering when my socks were going to be knocked off or at least ruffled a bit.
In my opinion, better values are available at 1/2 the price. This speaker has received way to much hype. In closing, Legacy's Classic, Signature and several earlier models have stood the test of time as incredible bargains in the marketplace with sonic and aesthetic value exceeding speakers at 3x the price.I may not be an audio genius but I think Legacy can do better.

Apparently the loser at IP address 209.222.216.2 has hit most Legacy Speakers in this forum with a degrading review. At least he is consistent.

Finally got to audition these speakers and was not overly impressed.
Pros: Excellent imaging and mid-bass punch...quite impressive output from a bookshelf.

Cons: Soundstage is limiting and very unforgiving to bad recordings...I can see why the salesman wanted to pay some tracks for me first before playing my music. These speakers did not like to 'rock'.

I am since decided on B&W Nautilus 805s. (more money but worth every penny in sound quality)

Strength:

I put off buying these for the office for two years, what an idiot. They are great. In a room of glass, hardwood and stone I have great sound. Easily worth the money. My wife called it rich, full and wanted to go see the rest of the line for the house (she liked the whispers, unfortunely). Would urge anyone who is interested to take the time and find these.

Weakness:

Bass drops off at around 70 to 80, 80 probably being more accurate. Just where a sub...

A beautiful looking and sounding speaker in a surprisng small package. A great buy and a great speaker, particularly below $1,000

Strength:

Smooth and mellow

Weakness:

fake sounding. Like putting MSG over the real thing. too mellow. Weak bass.

At this price point there are some of the best bookshelf speakers available at any price. The Studios just don't cut it. Inaccurate and soft sounding. Useless... I give it an extra star for looks.

my friend has owned a pair of these for a couple of years now and i'm although impressed, find that for the price, more can be offered for the money. i own a pair of psb 300i's and while his are better, mine at $700 cheaper are by far a better bargain. both have a very musical sound but i feel mine offer more in the way of soundstaging and imaging. i like the high pass filter feature on the studios and wish i had that on mine and i do envy the fit and finish of the studios too. but when it comes to sound reproduction, i don't really care what a speaker looks like. so for quality of sound i give the tilt to the studios for their warm sounding midrange. also better in the upper range but for price, soundstaging and imaging i give the nod to my psb's. if u plan on auditioning these speakers, i strongly recommend u try out the line of psb's first. they offer some of the best buys in audio today. as far as if i had a choice, i would probably take the studios (if price wasn't an option) but price being an option to me, the psb's have the studios beat by a large margin.
