Strength:

bass, 360 sound,

Weakness:

midrange, the highs weren't clear

I'm just getting back into listening to my stereo after being away for awhile(had a baby). This was my first jump into the entry level, I'll call it, of the high end speaker market. I have a Denon avr 2500 with an old sony cdp510 single player. My previous speakers were from an onkyo rack system bought in 1985. They have had it.
I researched online and asked a few friends about speakers just to get some ideas. I know I didn't want to spend more than 800 bucks. anyway here it is, I go to tweeter to here some speakers and these puppys sound great, talk about filling aroom with music, these did the trick. I thought the bass was a little thin in the store, but I liked them better than the vr950. So I bought them, thats where all the problems began, now I must say I believe these are very good speakers, but they didn't sound good at my place. I tried listening to some bruce-e street shuffle-some rush-moving pictures, elvis costello-greatest hits, u2-joshua-., same thing for all, no clear cymballs, muffled guitar, nothing warm and inviting about them, nothing wanted me to break out into an air drum solo or guitar solo , no warmth. Needless to say I returned them, and returned to the web to get better educated on speakers. After learning what I could I came to the conclusion that if had more space for those speakers I may have found what I was looking for. Not space as in room size, but rather space around those boys so they could breathe alittle, like 4feet from back wall 5 feet from side wall and about 8 feet apart, that is alot of room, I ain't got it. I'm happy to say though, I found a pair of psb image5t in my price range that keep me quite warm thank you. My advice, bring your OWN MUSIC with you when listening, and go with your gut. good luck

I just purchased the Mirage OM10 speakers from Tweeter for $699.00. What a deal. I was going to buy them last month when they were $1099. Mirage dropped the price big time. In fact they had the OM12's next to them for $899.00. Anyways these speakers are just what I wanted for the front speakers of my home theater system. My receiver is a Yamaha DSP A1. I love the sound of these. They fill the room with sound from anywhere you are standing or sitting. I compared them with the OM8's and the only difference I found other than the price was that the bass didn't go as low (but it is low enough for me). I think that the OM10's are the same as the top half of the OM6's (tweeter and mid range sizes I think).
I was just wondering if they are any type of connections other than just using plain speaker wire to connect them. I have 14 Gauge speaker wire but have heard that some types of connections make them sound better.

I plan on buying the Mirage OMC2 for my center and the OMR2s for the rears. Right now I just have the OM10's for the fronts and my Energy XL15 for the rear. Just with those speakers my system sounds great. I plan on using the Energys as my front effects speakers after I purchase the others.

Strength:

Room filling Omni-polar sound.Clarity.Modern looking design (chicks like them tall, dark, and you know).

Weakness:

Lean a little sideways on carpet, but chicks like that too.

My neighbors think Snoop Dog,Santana,El Recodo,Korn, among others perform at my house regularly.Everything I play sounds so sick from my Mirages.I almost bought Klipsch's ,but after I heard these I had to have them.I also have a Mirage frx-15 sub that rocks for blocks.Center channel is an Om-c3,and rear surrounds are Om-r2's.DVD's just sound ridiculous.Good job Mirage.

Strength:

Sound, size, footprint, Bi-Polar sound is fabulous for a

smallish condo. Bravo Mirage!

Weakness:

I only bought one pair for $600!

See Mike Pelletier's review below for an indication of how I feel about the OM-10s. I had the Klipsch RF3s in my home for about three hours and decided that they had lost something of the Klipsch sound - a nice way of saying they sounded terrible. My next door neighbor runs Klipsch KLF-10s and boy do those Legends rock! It was the only sound I wanted for my system until I heard the Mirages. The footprint is perfect, the cabinet looks great, and the sound is 100% detailed and accurate. I admit I get Klipsch envy now and again when listening to techno on the Legends, but I happily come home to my OM-10s every day.

Strength:

Huge Soundstage. Great high and mid end. Strong deep bass. Can handle some power. Wonderful for music, and wonderful for hometheater. And they look great also, i love the grill socks, very classy.

Weakness:

Will piss you off when fed bad recordings. Needs room to breathe, they need to be away from walls or the sound will muddle up in the lower midrange and bass will sound kinda boomy.

I bought these speakers a little over 2 months ago, and i do not regret it one bit. I got these fairly cheap, so i'm happy with how much i paid. These speakers sound incredible, i love the huge soundstage they create. Big soundstage needs big room, they need to be away from the front wall, preferably about 2-3feet, and the side walls about 3-5ft. In the right size room, you will not need a sub for music, unless you listen to a lot of pipe organ music, and rap. I have been auditioning subs for these speakers, and so far, no sub that i audition is a good match for these, they need a high quality musical sub, i am buying an Adire Audio RAVA 12" sealed 250 watt subwoofer that was made for music, with the benefit of being able to do hometheater as well. Hopefully they will be a good match. I listen to alot of techno, and the huge soundstage makes it a thrilling experience.

And another thing, don't get these if you only plan on using a receiver to drive them, clean power = clean sound. Garbage in = Garbage out. Give them each at least 150 watts of high current clean power.

Strength:

great soundstage. wonderful for home theater. will take the power

Weakness:

none that i can think of

I bought pair of these on a whim, without listening to them, thinking they looked cool and they were on sale. Plus, I know that the only way to tell if you like a speaker is to get it home and take it for a test drive. Wow! and I mean WOW was I impressed. So impressed, in fact, that I ran back and bought another pair for the rears and the matching center channel and powered sub.

My whole setup is in a rather small room, so the speakers are not place out from the wall as the manufacturer recommends. Perhaps this is why I have no complaints at all about the bass produced. I'm anxious to move in to my new home and set them up properly.

Strength:

enveloping sound field

Weakness:

slight lack of low end

I recently switched from Magnepan SMGa's to the OM-10's and are pleased with the sound. The OM-10's have a very spacious sound similar to the maggies but are less detailed and a little more colored (hissier highend, and slightly elevated mid range). I am pleased with the sound and have no regrets on the purchase, I was originally going to get the OM-12's but they were unavailable at the time. Very nice looking speaker but it tends to lean over to one side on my carpet, due to its tall and slender design. There is a lack of low end but the Mirage BPS-150 is a perfect match for these speakers and rounds out this setup. The main reason I purchased these speakers, omni-polar, over convnetional direct radiating speakers was for home theater use and in this department they excel. They are much more oriented towards HT although they are decent for music also.

Strength:

soundstage is huge

Weakness:

bass is alittle bloated at very low levels.

for vocals, and classical, and acoustical music, these speakers are one of the best for the money. sit back throw on enya turn the lights out and just listen. i have 4 om1o's i'm using in my home theater setup along with the om-c2 center and 2 subs. I have been very pleased with this setup.I have had these for over a year but just decided to add my opinions now.this is not a rock or rap speaker. if you like that kinda of music, which i don't, then do not buy these speakers.you will need more of a directional speaker for that type of music. You also do not need a ton of power to run these. they are rated at about 90-91 at 6 to 8 ohm. i might add that i listen to several B&W's and martin logans, imo i like the mirages.

Strength:

Smooth as silk, powerful, very impressive sound-stage. Great for music, even better for movies. Plus, one very sexy looking speaker!

Weakness:

Not enough bass to warrant exclusion of a sub in your setup.

In my opinion, this is the best speaker/price combo on the planet. I found them a year ago for $700/pair and still can't believe how good they sound - and everyday they sound better and better. Definitely the best in their class. My setup includes the older Mirage 595i bipolars for surrounds, the Mirage OM-C3 center, and the Mirage BPS-150 sub driven by my trusty Denon AVR32000.

I guess it could be said that I have a bias towards Mirage. Well, I do. But so does everyone else after listening to my system. Three friends of mine have gone out and purchased Mirage OM-10s after spending some time in my HT. That alone speaks for itself. No?

Over 2 years ago I started building a home theatre.I had 4 or 5 makes of speakers in mind including mirage. I was always impressed with the company but I still had to have an open mind. The salesman at the A&B sound was a complete jerk and we got into a heated argument over nothing. I finally looked at him and told him that he just lost about 5000 dollars in speaker sales and walked out.
I went to audio Ark and was treated well. I took one look at the 10's and knew I wanted them as my mains. On listening to them it was decided. But I was going to wait.... I needed a center channel and a sub first.
I have these speakers in my bedroom which is quite a tiny room. Being in a apartment its hard to be able to listen to these at a realistic volume. No justice for them. Sure, they sound good but without the space they need it was missing something. I brought them over to a friends on the weekend along with a decent old amp and fired them open.
People often build their home theatre around their residence. I'll be building (renting) a place around the Mirage. All I need is square footage....
