Strength:

Spacious sound. Good value. Full range speaker.

Weakness:

Can be expensive for your budget. Not enough sub power for home theatre.

The Mirage OMNIpolar technology is very interesting - the speaker produces an excellent Home Theatre Experience or Live sound.

The music is open and detailed - big soundstage, however, the imaging is not razor sharp pinpoint sound like a good front firing speakers. What this speaker lacks in pinpoint sound it gains back with a very big sweetspot.

This speaker may not be for everyone. Personally, with more classical recordings the speaker sounds not quite right. Pop and rock no problem very involving - love the sound.

5 stars for high end home theatre, pop, jazz and live music.
4 for classical music application.

Strength:

Tight bass, unique form, quality build and terrific acoustics

Weakness:

Big

I have owned only 2 speakers prior to these (Shahinian's and B&W's), both direct firing, and I can honestly say that I can see no reason why I would ever buy conventional (forward firing) speakers again. I have always been intrigued with the idea of omnidirectional sound (Shahinian introducted an omnidirectional tweeter years ago) for it's added acoustical spaciousness. With this speaker, the high's are crystal, the midrange is extremely full and the bass, after you properly adjust for your room's acoustics, is punchy and deep. I have waited for months to own these, auditioned them countless times, and finally I have them and could not be happier - honestly. I liked other speaker designs a little better (specifically Revel's) but the OM-6 is a beautiful speaker too - clean and simple. And they are built like tanks (as in heavy - 65lbs a piece). With dual 8" 150W MOSFET subs in the base, gold spike stands and that swank black piano gloss, these are all business. And for the financially challenged, originally these speakers retailed for $3000, but you can easily find them new for $1800. If you have never considered anything but a direct-firing speaker, you owe it to yourself to listen to these. And if you are considering bipolar (like the Definitive's) you definitely need to compare.

My review is from the position of someone who has listened to the Mirage OM6's for only about 15 minutes. But what a fine 15 minutes it was. Both myself and a friend were totally awed with these speakers. I can't say that I've tested them with all kinds of music. We played some clssical and some Chris Isaak. Boy were we impressed. In a word it was EMOTIONAL. I've never heard anything like it before. And today I auditioned a pair of Definitive Technologies 2002 speakers. The Def. Techs. were not even close in all of the characteristics that make the Mirage OM6's totally outstanding. Do not consider a pair of speakers in the 2-3 thousand dollar range until you have auditioned the OM6's. I will get a pair as soon as I find a buyer for some of my surplus audio gear.

Well, I took the plunge and decided to buy the OM-6's. I narrowed down my choices to the Definitive Technology BP2000 and the Mirage OM-6 (both at $3000 a pair). While the BP200 had a more pronounced bass, it was loose and, dare I say, unrefined. The OM-6's didn't have the chest-pounding bass, but the bass was extremely tight and defined, and the highs were stunning, far superiour to the BP2000. Also, I was very skeptical about the "omnipolar" soundstaging of the Mirage speakers, but they deliver on every promise. The music literally fills a three dimensional area, yet still keeps proper imaging. The test CD that justified the purchase of theses speakers is the Deutsche-Gramaphone recording of Vivaldi's Four Seasons-Summer Concerto. I was in awe. If you have $3000 burning a whole in your pocket and want the finest speaker you can get at this price range, then I believe you need go no further than the Mirage OM-6.

I recently took a hit of $3000 on OM-6 loud speakers. I would say they are worth every single penny. They don't have a very solid (chest-pounding)base, instead well defined and tight. Mid to hight are as perfect as they can be. I haven't heard anything in this price range that would produce sound with such detail and definition. They are well built to produce the full frequency spectrum with excellent definition.

Well folks... I'm sorry to say that you're only going to hear more good news about these speakers! Although I might sound biased by saying this... but these speakers replaced a pair of Mirage 1090i's and I thought I had great speakers then. I too went out and shopped around before deciding on the OM-6's... Definitive Techs, Boston Accoustics VR's... but neither had the tight bass response and clarity of the 6's. I did keep my Mirage BPS210 subwoofer for those extra needed home theater punches... but many times I find myself in awe in just how well they sound without the sub and a great jazz or classical CD playing. My only one complaint about the Mirage line, is that I decided to go with their new OM-C2 center to compliment the "omni-polar" sound stage of my fronts, and although it is priced more, I miss my old MCsi center... I still believe that center is the best center ever built. I should have never sold it to my friend before completely auditioning the new OM-C2... So, those of you that still have that speaker, hang on to it... you'll be sorry!

I guess Ray could not afford the Mirage OM-6s on a Pizza man delivery wage. Hey Ray, I hear Kraco is making some HIGH END speakers. He must be deaf. These are by far best speakers on the market. Not just a bunch of B/S. These WERE the number one rated speakers. I have four of them. I enjoy many differnt types of music and the ability to use them with my home theater. Why go to the movies when their sound is not even close to the sound in my home. I had to buy the neighbors ear plugs for when I listen to music. You can find these speakers as low as $2300 US dollars a pair.

These speakers are a steal at three grand. The built in powered subs provide dynamite bass. The omni-directional array fills the room with music or video.I'm very happy I shopped around and discovered the OM-6 there fantastic.

Just more bi-polar junk. Oh, I'm sorry omni-polar. Yeah, whatever. A step up from Bose. I seen better built cardboard boxes. The mids are cystal clear if you can get that sub unit to stop bouncing around the rest of the drivers. Best served in a HT suround sound setup. $3k can be more wisely spent.
