Strength:
Clear warm bass. Clear defined highs. Mids are great - very loud playing tends to obsucure the clarity. Well built.
Weakness:
Mids slightly lost when played *very* loud. Went to Richer Sounds to buy my Christmas Present a few months early. Intially I bought a Cambridge Audio A5i integrated amp with Mission 704 speakers. The speakers were *terrible*. I like bass and listen to a lot of bassy music but those speakers were appauling. I can see why they were reduced from £700 to £200. After taking these back, I spoke to a Richer Sounds rep who told me I should think about getting the MS902s. They are excellent. I've run them in for a few months and they sound absolutely great. The speaker is very punchy without being overpowering and the bass is controlled and warm. The midrange is superb, and if I was to be pedantic I would say that at very high volumes the separation gets worse, but for speakers this size and cost it is nothing that will spoil your experience. I have these set up with an Eltax Atomic A10 sub and the bass these push out is amazing. The sub is easily the weak link. I now run them all through a Cambridge Audio A500 amp which sounds a lot more neutral than the A5i - which sounded a lot more twisted towards the highs. These speakers better than all others n the price range. I tested the Warfdale Diamond 8.2's. Eltax Symphony 200's and some JPWs. Similar Products Used: Warfdale Diamond 8.2. Eltax Symphony Series. Lower Eltax models. MS904s. Mission 704. Mission 702. Missio 700. |

Strength:
The definite and firm bass, unheard of before in this size(and price) of speakers!! the warm but clear treble(don't wear the grilles!!!)!! and the amazing softness and sorting of the mid-range!!!
Weakness:
Something very slightly odd in the feeling for space that I have not been able to correct with placing, but this really is very minor!! Also the absence of comparason tests with this speaker included in the press!! It would be nice to hear a pro's opinion of these!! When first encountered these speakers I wasn't looking for a new set, just visiting a store I hadn't noticed before. Checking all the speakers in the store these stroke me off with amazement as they sounded far better then other speakers in the same price class, or even better then more expensive pairs. After a warning from the clerk I took a good three days of listening at home and driving in the speakers before stating my final opinion and closing the deal. Haven't regretted it at all, quite the opposite. Now even after ten months of the purchase I still can't wait to get back from work to listen to my great speakers. Everything from Jamiroquai to Sibelius, from Elvis to Tower of power, from Roni Size to Dave Brubeck sounds absolutely GREAT!! The treble is clear and the bass is strong and now that I bi-wired them the mid-range is unbelivably flexible(not that it wasn't flexible before!!!). |

AAALLLLLLL!!!!!
Weakness:
I don't understand what this site talkin' about? WOOOOOOOW!!! This is always be my best speaker.I bought many speakers include B&W 602 SE,Epos M12,and all Mordaunt Speakers ( MS 902,904,906,908) for my collection. But,for my hi-end,I chose Ms 902.This speaker very match with my taste.warm vocal,Dynamic Bass ( not too loud, not too weak),and of course, full with detail of music.B&W and Epos can do that too and they more expensive but,the best speaker will not be the "more expensive" speaker of course, but the most important is "what's your ears want?" B&W and Epos very good too.But for me,MS-902 is the best.MS904,906,908 dont have warm vocal like MS902 did. Similar Products Used: - B&W 602 - Epos M12 - Ms 904,906,908 - JBL SCS 135,138,175,178 - and Robertson Audio Magis MD-88 |

Strength:
Clarity in higher range - tight extended bass with correct postitioning
Weakness:
At this price - nothing Purchased to replace aging Mision 700's. No room for floorstanding. Bought on advice from Richer Sounds staff, no demo (shop is size of matchbox) but guranteed refund if not happy. Run through NAD 520 and Marantz CD with good interconnects and Gale LS cable. Sound? Could not believe clarity of top range, spaciouness, imaging, but at this size the bass is incredible. Too close to wall boomy, annoying, but move out approx 18 -24" and feel the floor move. ( no need to insert socks!) Who needs floorstanders? |

Strength:
Imaging, Depth, Clean Highs, Excellent bass response in small rooms(or near walls) Looks I would rate 7 out of 10. I would prefer gloss black instead of a black woodgrain laminate.
Weakness:
Cabinets are kind of lightweight and cheap(but they do have an aluminum baffles) ***UPDATE*** I posted a review on these a couple of months after buying them. I was happy with them then and I still am. I have moved to a new apartment and obviously I have a new listening room. My older room was small, 12 x 12. My new room is 21 x 12. The speakers adapted well to the new enviroment. I also have upgraded my speaker wire from basic 16awg to Monster cable M1.2s and I have upgraded to a better, more powerful Onkyo receiver. I also have a Polk Audio PSW650 subwoofer in this system. I have a MUCH wider soundstage now, the imaging of these speakers are great. In my new living room the speaker are further away from the wall and that helped the depth of music and gives a much more balanced sound. I have the speakers on 28" tall stands with a bit of "toe in" towards my listening position. About 4 feet from side walls and 1.5 feet of room from front wall to rear of speaker. The speakers have aged well, I have had no problems and they still sound great. I plan to keep these speakers for a few years then I am going to upgrade to B&W 600 series. |

Strength:
Good mid-range. Quite punchy
Weakness:
Too boomy for bookshelf speakers I bought these Mordaunt-Short 902 bookshelves for my second system. They are connected to a Denon PMA-350II amplifier. The speakers were recommended to me over the Diamond 8.1s...not sure I agree with this now. The speakers are a very good match to my system, but two problems: 1. Bass boom far too much. You need to literally put a sock in the rear port to lose this. It sounds much better now. 2. Sound is too bright. Leave the front mesh on. Conclusion I am very pleased with these speakers, but I would definately recommend auditioning The Wharfedale's before purchasing this product. Similar Products Used: Wharfedale Diamond's 8.1 |

Strength:
Clear treble, adequate bass (astonishing for the size of the cabinet), superb mid-band. Most importantly the sound is very cohesive, there is a natural continuity across the full frequency range that suits a broad range of musical styles.
Weakness:
Why no 5-star reviews in hi-fi publications? I haven't found any yet. Maybe they're a bit too detailed for full-blown rock music. I bought these speakers to replace an aging pair of KEF Coda IIIs (circa 1984). Since I purchasing an Arcam Alpha 7R amplifier last year, I had been unhappy with the overall sound from the KEFs. The treble was overly bright, the bass thuddy and unmusical - sounding occasionally as if it was originating from a different source to the treble. The lower mid-band was short of detail and the overall sound had a hollowness about it. All this was at odds with the supposed warmth one typically associates with Arcam amplifiers. I tried the Eltax Monitor IIIs from a friend's system and they were a definite improvement (fantastic at the £60 price). However on hearing these MS902s I knew my problems were solved. From Led Zeppelin to Vivaldi, via Oasis, Garbage, Van Morrison, John Coltrane and Beethoven, the MS902s sound natural and whole. Similar Products Used: Mission 771e (in listening room). Eltax Monitor III (I really liked these too!) KEF Cresta 2 KEF Coda III |

Strength:
Amazingly tight, punchy bass - hard to believe coming from a small speaker. Crystal clear top and mid-range. Try listening to M People''s ''Sight for Sore Eyes'' or ''Search for the Hero''; also Thomas Newman''s ''Dead Already'' from the American Beauty soundtrack. Oh boy.
Weakness:
None, really - some CDs sound muddy but I put that down to the CDs themselves. Sweet speakers, excellent value for money, great all-rounders. Similar Products Used: The 902s were bought to replace my old AR18s that died because the rubber perished around the woofers. The 902s are a good substitute although (of course) I still think the AR18s were a tad better. |

none for the price:) i have just replaced my old speakers (walfdales diamond 1.1''s) well what a difference.the speakers are so clear. the midrange is the most impressive thing. but the whole sound from top to bottom is exellent. well worth the money. they also look really nice. solid wood. i dont think you will get a better speaker up to £400. oh i have got the ms 902 signatures. Strength:
Clarity, quick bass, best speaker for the money. put these on ur short list
Weakness:
too good looking cant stop taking off the cover Ok! Where do i start, these ms''s are capable of producing a big sound from such a lil sexy cabinet. When i first took these out the box the clarity was there, bass was a bit boggy 3 days later its like WOW! bass is fast puncy, and go well with a lot of genre. running these on old amps work well as they produce nicer sound in my opinion. I am planning to get a sub to have component sounds. overall they are beautiful, solid, lively. Similar Products Used: mISSION 701, KLH |
