cant believe i just got my RMA for the ones I just bought. After listening to these well into the night, I have deemed them one of best speakers I have ever heard, and considering their size, thee best speakers i have ever heard. See, problem is, I live in a pre Civil war farmhouse. And that beautiful contemporary mirror finish just wont cut it with the lady of the house. I came real close to flipping a coin, but then I just decided to send em back and not cause a rucus. It's worth the extra dough to use the sub for the total audiophile experience. Beautiful! I just wish they came in rustic brown! I may get em again when this one leaves. ;)

Strength:

Bang for the buck

Weakness:

Needs a sub

Picked up two of these years ago and they sounded sweet. Moved to a bigger place, added three more and an NHT SW2pi, and now I have as much good sound as any normal person needs.

Strength:

Styling (SuperOne -XU's), Neutral Tone

For true music appreciation, you need a Sub to go along
with the SuperOnes. The SuperZero's are great as satellite
surrounds, and complement the Superones nicely.

Make sure and get the "XU". THey come with great styling
and a good wall mount, although I have mine on the floor
at the moment. I am considering some speaker stands.

I had have shopped Polk Audio, Acoustic research, and
Infinity before deciding on the NHT's. They are great!

Strength:

Outstanding clarity, imaging and detail

Weakness:

None

Unbeatable in the sub $600 class - above this, the NHT 1.5i is slightly better. Super One has sufficient bass response for everyday use as a music & TV speaker. Adding the NHT SW2Pi subwoofer rounds it out. Before hearing the 1.5i, I preferred this to any other under $1,000 speaker.

Strength:

Beautiful clearity, strong midrange, excellent highs!

Weakness:

none that I can hear..

I am new to "quality" audio but I know what I like! I read reviews on a lot of other products and listened to Polk, Infinity, and Mirage in the same price range. These speakers had such a clean sound, the choice was easy! I love them and highly recomend them!

I bought them at hometheaterworld.com for $129.00 each! The SuperCenter was bought locally and sounds great!

Strength:

Great imaging, excellent price/value ratio

Weakness:

Mounting brackets look deceptively small compaing to size & weight of speaker. NHT said brackets were tested and not to worry.

Bought 4 Xus for a 18x22 room size application, matched w/ a super center. Imaging and presence produced by these speakers are incredible for money spent. Mids and highs are execellent. Same B&W sound quality would certainly cost more. I'm very pleased w/ this NHT purchase. These spkrs do seem to thirst for power so I recommend using high end receiver/gear to reveal their true personality.

Got them mounted on wall using the provided brackets. I was concerned the brackets are too small, but NHT soothed my worry by saying brackets were tested and not to worry. A 5-star overall, no doubt.

i've been listening to these speaker for over two months at the local pro shop. I'm still trying to find the best deal out there. I've heard alot about unclestereo.com from these forums....how was that for those who bought from them? Are there any other places that i should check out before shelling out the dough for these awesome speakers? thanks

Strength:

great imaging; pleasant overall sound; sound larger than they are

Weakness:

none

This is a great little speaker. I have owned for over 2 years and I still look forward to getting home to listen to music/movies. Match with a nice sub(I have an Energy ES-12 sub) and you have a very solid system.

Strength:

Very balanced sound, not too much $$$.

Weakness:

A little hard to drive. Must be mated to higher-end electronics to achive better sound.

The S1 is a great "value" speaker. It really paints a true picture of what is going on with the source material. Highs are a little hard, but better than almost anything in the price range. Bass extension does not extend to the lowest octaves, even doesn't extend with 100% output to the lowest notes of a bass guitar. The good thing it is flat to 80hz, so it will mate well with a sub. Driving these speakers with a receiver will not show their full potential, but most purchasers will most likely do so. I bought a pair of these as a temporary measure when I was living in the US. Driving them with B&K separates resulted in a good musical experience. If you are looking for speakers in the under $500 range (You can get these for $300US), do not pass this one up. Also, please bypass any floorstanding speaker

The SuperOne is an excellent speaker considering its performance, configurations, and value. The speaker comes in two versions each with a different price. The SuperOne has a list price of $175/ speaker and is housed in a classic wooden enclosure with a black glossy finish. Although some may find a glossy cabinet attractive, it scratches and chips easily.
The SuperOne XU has a much better design. The Xu (extended use) version is identical to the SuperOne except that it has a tougher plastic molded enclosure for $190/speaker. The Xu also includes a rubber stand to fit its rounded surfaces as well as a wall mount. Additionally, the Xu comes in either black or white with matching cloth removable grills. Both speakers are video shielded and have five way binding posts which accommodate spades, banana plugs, or bare wires. Their response is rated at 57Hz- 25Khz @ +/- 3dB.

The performance of the speaker is excellent, especially for its $400 price per pair. The SuperOne surpasses many other bookshelf speakers in its sub $500 price range. I've listened to the PSB Alphas, B&W 302, and Paradigm Mini Monitor, the SuperOne sounds much better. The SuperOne has a much larger sweet spot and it sounds very transparent and open.

These speakers should not be compared to those for use in large home theaters. In a large room, the SuperOne lacks very deep bass and would require a sub to reproduce deep bass effects. However, for clear stereo a medium sized room, these speakers are excellent. In addition, the Xu's solid enclosure should stand up to years of abuse.
