After much research and listening I chose the SuperOnes for their combination of imaging and neutrality. Being on a budget and needing a combo music/home theater system led me to purchase 5 SuperOnes and an SW1P subwoofer. Running them with a Mondial Designs Amfitheater 1 A/V receiver they sound great in my living room. They can however be extremely unforgiving of poor source material.A classic case of garbage in garbage out. I suspect that the people who don't like them tend to listen to them with less than musical electronics.

Highly recommended. Especially for the price. Just be careful what you match them with.

I purchased five super-ones to be used exclusively in a home-theater setting.(I have a seperate music-only system in a different room.) I had heard many
very positive things about the super-ones and had heard the super-zeros with
a SW2P a year earlier (and was astonished.) So, I went to my local dealer
fully prepared to buy.

I have mated them with a Sunfire True Subwoofer and wasn't particularly
worried about the low-end of the spectrum. However, when I reached the
dealer I wanted to make sure that they had plenty of dynamic range. I asked
him to show them off for me, and told him up front that I was more than
eager to purchase but wanted him to make me happy with my decision.

The dealer didn't have them set-up in a theater setting but put on a
brass band cd that was well recorded and very dynamic. I was more than
happy with the results, the sound filled the room and got as loud (and
so far as perception goes, as low) as I could have wanted. I haven't
played the things nearly as loud in my theater, but am very happy
with my decision.

I have only played music though them once, to see what surround sound would
do to music. I can't really speak to what they sound like for that
application but must say that these are wonderful speakers for home theater
and I strongly recommend that everyone on a less than astronomical budget
give them an audition.

It is just ok in my opinion. They lack of base, frequence response not flat. Don't just listen to other's review. Listen to yourself. There are many other good speaker over there: Martin Logan, Vandersteen, B&W, PSB and Thiel.

I have had a pair of NHT Superones for two months. I find the sound to be very detailed. Highs are a little bright. Lows are softer but never spongy, probably because of the acoustic suspension. I purchased them because I wanted small speakers that could be placed at head level when standing. This keeps the music above intruding furniture.
These speakers sound great! I am running them with the Adcom 700 CD changer and amplifying with an expensive boom box. I will be upgrading to a sub woofer and good 6 channel receiver.

Would someone please send George the latex salesmen back to prison.

I have had a pair of SuperOnes for over a month now and I can honestlysay they are the most accurate speakers I have heard anywhere in their
price range. I listened to a slew of speakers in the $300-600 price
range and the SuperOnes were an easy pick. First, the price is
great. Second, they sound perfect. While exciting and involving,
they don't color the music. Imaging is so perfect, I almost feel
like I don't need to buy another one for a center channel. I was
listening to a cut off of the new U2 album POP(If God Will Send His
Angels) and although rock recording are not typically well recorded,
I could hear Bono's voice, Larry's Drums, and Edge's Guitar all perfectly placed. 5 stars.

Strength:

good range, clear highs

Weakness:

need a subwoofer to bring out the bass

I have a Kenwood 104AR receiver, Sony CDP-CE335 CD-Player, Polk PSW-300 subwoofer, and Original Monster Cable.

The receiver is decidedly cheap-- I wanted something that would put out 200-Watts and wouldn't cost too much, knowing that radio is going digital.

Just got the Monster Cable, and the sound is greatly improved, but I was using some chincy speaker wire that I got from Circuit City. The wire was actually half aluminum, so Monster Cable was a big step up.

The SuperOnes are a hell of a buy for the price, and with even a half-decent sub, they're probably all most sensible people could want.

My dream system, however, is a pair of Boston Acoustics VR-M60's with a PV-1000 1000-Watt subwoofer, to use for music and for TV viewing.

I listen mostly to the radio-- rock/heavy metal/pop, but I also have a good collection of Classical CD's and the SuperOnes sound great for Classical too.

Strength:

Build quality, nicely timed bass, resolution

Weakness:

low sensitivity, too good for most equipment used

Simply put, this is the best available under $1000. Watch out for parterning equipment though. $2000 for amp and source is reasonable.

First, the high horse (not quite a flame):I get tired of reading reviews from arrogant subjectivists who obviously don't know how to speak in full sentences, much less review a pair of speakers!
(Sorry, I just feel that it had to be said)
Any way, I just spent 5 hours listening to the full line of NHTs, PSBs, Paradigms as well as a few other misc. brands thrown in. I did this because I am looking at buying a new pair of speakers within the $3000 price range. Honestly, the Super Ones out performed the whole lot of them. I couldn't believe it myself, but its true. The 2.5's and up were superior but not enough to justifiy spending that much more. I had (and will have) them hooked up to a Parasound Amp and processor and they were clean, articulate, accurate and the imaging was fantastic. They were also running with a sw2pi sub which integrated seamlessly! (another thing I thought to be impossible) Just for the record I will be buying 9 of them, five for ht and listening, 2 for my recording studio, and two for my second stereo upstairs. You cannot go wrong with these speakers.
Material tested:
Sibelius 2nd Symphony w/ London SO, fourth mvmnt, 13:00 and on - these are the only speakers that I have heard play this material @ 120db without distortion other than a pair of Klipsch's that Paul Klipsch specially designed for my friend.
Beethoven's 9th w? Chicago SO - the strings were magical on this recording
Dave Matthews Band - Under the table and Dreaming - this track and #34 sounded as pure as the real thing.
Erich Kunzel and Cincinatti Pops Great Fantasy Adventure Jurrasic Lunch - Deep bass from the sub, the likes of which I've rarely heard!!
Doc Severinsen (fellow Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Brother), In the Mood, usually massively bright, sounded smooth and clear - just right!
Eric Clapton - Layla (unplugged) Simply magical, the imaging was so good my wife could even tell you where the performers were on stage!!!!!!!!
Any way sorry if I have bored or offended you,
Boogeyman (boo!)

Well, I don't want to be too harsh, but boy are these things over-hyped!
Don't get me wrong, they're pretty good, but all this gushing over the SuperOnes seems a little excessive. Yeah, they are nice for the money, but can easily be beat. I picked a set of 2 SuperOnes and the SWP2i figuring I'd get great sound, and I really didn't get what I expected.

The good news, NHT makes great speakers! IMHO a far better sounding combo is the 1.5's with the SWP2i, and they are only about $120/ea more. If you're buying the whole package like I did (i.e. sub + 2 sat's) and it's for music only, with pretty diverse material, you're selling yourself short with these.

If you just need bargain, accurate sat's, these are a great pick. However, for a serious system, they don't make the grade.

Nigel's rating on these is a little more accurate.
Pros: Pretty neutral sound. Good transparency for the price. Fairly well made.

Cons: Poor efficiency. Incapable of driving a decent size room. Speaker is
small and it sounds it.
Verdict: A very good speaker for a small room.
