Strength:

accurate highs, not too bright, decent bass

Weakness:

take lots of juice

These speakers rock, to say the least. I've been waiting forever to get these, and it was worth the wait. I still have a while to go before they are totally run-in, but I can wait because they already sound great. I've got these matched up to my super zero's for theatre (with a paradigm cc50), and of course, that rocks, too. I've read a lot of complaints of weak bass, and I can see how that may be a problem, but I live in a house with hardwood floors and have about 2 feet of crawlspace underneath. This helps to propagate lower frequencies. I guess I got lucky. Regardless, though, I think that even in a different setting(i.e. carpet), these speakers would still produce ample amounts of bass to suit most listeners across a variety of applications. In summary though, since I paid $600, I would have to say these get the highest rating- 5 stars across the board.

Strength:

Natural, uncolored sound, especially vocals. Wide soundstage, pleasing bass.

Weakness:

Very innefficient, a tade bright (but not irritatingly so)

Of the speakers I auditioned (listed above), these NHTs tied for second place with the Missions. I ended up with the Vandersteens, review to be posted soon. These speakers imaged beautifully, had clear, clean highs and mids, with no noticeable coloration of vocals. Bass was sufficient for most musical material, but you'd want a sub for HT. They were edged out by the Vandersteens because of their power requirements. People buying speakers in this price range ($700/pr), like me, usually don't have the ability to feed these speakers with a powerful separate amp. I was really worried that my Pioneer Elite 24TX would not be able to drive these speakers loud enough for me (and what I call loud is not that loud - about 90 dB or so is plenty loud to me). I demo'd these in an A/B/C test with the Mirage and PSB speakers, and every time the salesman jumped to the NHTs, the volume would drop very noticeably. The efficiency concerns were augmented by my feeling that these speakers are a bit bright. They still sound natural, but without a tweeter level control, i was afraid they'd be a poor match for my modest receiver, which can be a bit on the bright side itself. However, if you have the power these speakers need, and your electronics aren't too bright, these speakers may be just the ticket for you. As always, listen carefully before you buy.

You should always listen for yourself to determine how well you like a product. However, when people in the industry give the Super2 their highest recommendation in an under $8000 loudspeaker category (keeping in mind the msrp of $750 on the super2!!), that should tell you something about how good this speaker is.

Do yourself a favor, if you have this speaker get a good amp and cd player along with some quality interconnects and wire, you will not be dissapointed!

I have owned the Super2s for almost a year and have upgraded my entire system...except the Super2s, I will be keeping these around for a while.
