The very first home theater equipment I bought where superzeros. I was tired of watching laserdiscs through the $10 speakers that came with my stereo. As soon as I plugged them in there was an immediate difference in sound quality I had never heard. Movies suddenly jumped into and almost 3-d soundscape out of two speakers! I'm looking forward to buying a Nak to experience these in dolby digital, but I'm not made of money so that'll have to wait. For their price, definitely the best speakers out there. As for complaining about bass, yes, if you have a house get a sub. But I'm in a small apartment and there's enough range in them to make my couch vibrate, so I'm not complaining. I took a test drive with the superones and felt that something was definitely missing.

Strength:

Clean look, great sound, mounting brackets included w/ XU's.

Weakness:

none.

Great speakers. Currently have a pair of Superzero's for home theater and another pair of Superzero Xu's wall mounted for game room application. Subwoofer definitely improves home theater "experience" (terrific imaging even without a sub). Highly recommended. Check auction sites, should be no more than about $100 each.

I have 5 super0's and M&K VX-70 subwoofer connected to Yamaha receiver. It sounds detailed in a non-fatiguing way. As other reviewers have mentioned, I hear the details from my CDs that I haven't caught before. For orchestral music, it lacks the volume in symphonies, and thus doesn't sound like a big orchestra. On the other hand, Segovia's classical guitar sounds, umm, heavenly. Vocals are reproduced in such a realistic way, I feel like Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong are singing in my room. In other words, excellent for chamber music but not so great (although respectable for its size) for orchestral music. Subwoofer is a must for most types of music. Definitely worth a listen.

Strength:

Clarity

Weakness:

None, for a speaker this size

These are some of the best speakers you can buy for the money. If your in teh market for some speakers that play your music they way they were recorded, these are them.

They sound great for music and movies. There is no difference in sound between dolby surround or plain stereo in movies. Music sounds exceptionally "real".

Strength:

Great mids & highs. XU's mount easily. Brakets included.

What a great small speaker. Using the XU's as surrounds paired with SuperOnes & a SuperCenter. Systems sounds best with a sub. Sound great for HT and in 5 channel stereo.

I got this initially as a pair of surrounds speakers. I was not satisfied with it at all. It just didn't seem right. I guess you will have to hear it and take it if you like it. They cost around $250 a pair. I think by paying $50 more you could get a pair of Super One's which more a full range then these.

The NHT Superzero makes a great rear channel for a surround sound. I presently run a system with 1.3A's in the front along with a 1.1C for the center. The Superzero's are used in the rear with liquid filled tweeters identical to the front three which sounds incredible. To top the system off a SW2pi is used to bring in those low frequencies. I am more than happy with the sound!

This is a follow-up to my earlier review. The new information relates to speaker stands.

After owning these little guys for over a year now, I'm still very pleased with their performance, especially considering the price. However, I wasn't happy with my speaker stands. For the past year, I've been using a set of 24" Sound Anchor stands. I had to top this off with a 6" stack of DVDs on each side to get the right height.

I looked all over, trying to find a stand in the 28-30" range that met my requirements:

1. Small top plate, big bottom plate
2. Metal
3. Favorably reviewed
4. Capable of being mass filled
5. <$250 USD for the pair
6. Not ugly
7. Carpet-piercing floor spikes

I had seen pictures on the web of NHT's stand for the Super Zero at www.crutchfield.com. However, the $79 NHT stand looked pretty flimsy, althoug it was 29" and featured a small top plate.

Finally, I ended up purchasing a pair of Atacama Nexus 7 stands, in 28" height, and a set of six Audio Selection cone isolators from Audio Advisor. (Note: I do not work for nor am in any way associated with Audio Advisor)

After assembling the stands, I put 3 cones under each Super Zero, with two cones under the front corners, with the third cone under the rear edge, forming a triangle. The total cost was about $210 USD, before shipping and tax.

All I can is...WOW!! The rock solid Super Zero cabinet never did hold much energy or vibrate, but now it's truly a rock. The combination of the cones and the mass loaded has opened up the Zero's already spectacular imaging to an amazing degree. And, as a bonus, the combination of the cones and stands bring the Zeros to a 29 1/4" listening height, which seems just about perfect.

I highly recommend any Super Zero owners out there to try the Atacama Nexus stand combined with the Audio Selection cones. You'll be amazed at how much better your little Zeros can sound.
