Strength:

you can't believe its high end midrange/treble if you replace the original crossover capacitor etc.

Weakness:

The dull characteristic was removed after crossover modifying.

This is the 3rd time i post on superzero, why i so emphasis to this tiny speaker?mainly because its potential!

Few day ago i checked with the speaker inside,oh! the speakers magnet was so big! however its wired with the cheapest soldering wire(the wire in matt silver colour easier for soldering)in 22AWG(8-10 strands!)
certainly the parts of the crossover was also made of very
poor quality parts.
So,i replaced the wire and capacitors & the result was
unexpectable!

I suggested all of the owner to modify this speaker:-

1.change the wire with another good quality wire,i use TARA
LAB 8N multi strand(crossover to treble & bass speakers,
solid core 8N copper wire(from input to crossover) they are not costly,in H.K. HK$10-12 per feet.(total 5 ft)

2.only change the capacitors of the crossover with SOLEN
CAP from france(the new type) the superzero use 5uF &
10uF each per one,& no need to replace the resistor & coil
(costly about HKD210) you should place the capacitors on
the soldering parts of the circuit board because the place was not enough if you soldering on the front side of the circuit board.

Afterall, the superzero will actually sound like those
high end speakers! i never heard such silky midrange &
treble! the soundstage will become very very 3D!

The system:-
Yamaha CDX993 CD player
Unison Research Simply 2 Amp.
Yamaha YST-SW45 sub(copper spike)
Kimber silverstrek interconnect
Kimber double 4TC & OEM 7N Pcocc speakers cable(mixed
together)
3 x isoclean electricity noise filter(in series)
Enacom speaker wire compensator
All couple with gemstones pyramid shaped spike
Diff.kinds of gemstones place on the top of the speakers

Strength:

Price I paid, solid constuction, very warm and balanced, very accurate, accoustic suspension

Weakness:

Need good stands to get the best out of these, O.K. no bass

All the speakers listed above I own or have ownwed. I am a big fan of bookshelf speakers and have made them kind of a hobby. I think it's better than collecting stamps!
I recently found a used pair of super zeros at a pawn shop. For $75 I could'nt pass them up.
I am partial to accoustic suspension speakers due to the inherent tightness of the bass and mid-range most produce. I believe that too many bass reflex designs use porting to enhance the bass which tends to take away from the mid range. It's almost like they are trying to make these speakers something they're not. They are not floor standing speakers with large woofers and big cabinets.
One of the best sounding bass reflex bookshelfs I own are the kef cresta2s. They produce usable bass that is believable without sacraficing the mids.
But to the nht's. These are the first pair of nht's I've owned and so far I am very impressed. They do everything they are supposed to do very well. Good clean articulate highs and a snappy yet laid back mid-range. I have them in my bedroom system which consists of a yamaha rx-596 stereo receiver, 80 watts, and a denon dcm-370 cd changer. I also have a veleodyne ct-80 sub. The zeros compliment the sub very well. I really enjoy listening to music before I go to sleep and the zeros fill that bill excellently. I don't listen to hard rock and if you do don't get the zeros. But for soft rock, jazz, blues ect. they sound wonderful. For what I paid for them, they were a steal!
I have to mention my 20 year old A/D/S L-10s. These are by far the best sounding bookshelves I have ever heard or owned. The soundstage and presence of these are truly outsatnding. I am continually amazed at the quality of music these produce. When paired with my veleodyne ct-120 sub and audio source amp 2, I am in music heaven.
I can't wait to audition the super ones and the 1.5s. If they are anything like the quality of the zeros I'm sure I will have two more pairs of bookshelfs in my collection.
Five stars for value, four stars overall.

Strength:

High definition sound, least price high end product!

Weakness:

a little dull in upper octave

Very obviously as NHT design philosopy extract all the
material upstream(source,amp & records)you must use a
high quality amp(for me,a 12w single ended class A
valves amp.,Unison Research Simply 2) & pls do not linked
them with those cheapy receiver, otherwise the sound will
be harsh as i seen from some people's experiences at this forum.
I've just bought a pair of super zero & experienced a
very good listening pleasure as they extract the essence
of my records, much much better than some "HIGH END"spkrs
such as PRO-AC response one/two which i heard before.
Also,i suggested the super zero owners to buy a Kimber
4TC speaker cable, that's truely another biggest bargain
in HI-FI history as super zero.

Strength:

detail, detail, detail

Weakness:

bass, efficiency

These are the smallest speakers I've ever owned. I bought the XU version in white to use as surrounds to compliment my SuperOne/VS1.2A front combo in our new (under construction) home. In my temporary apartment set-up, I'm using the XU's with my 15 yr old NAD 7140 receiver (40 wpc) which is cross-overed through a Velodyne VA1012X sub at 100 Hz. When I fired 'em up, the first thing I realized is that I need to clean the contacts in my volume knob - I could heard the dirt as I rotated the dial. At volume, CD's and DVD's sound fabulous. Accurate, detailed, and inexpensive. While watching Matrix, what impressed me most was the way they reproduced the sound of the old rotary phones - loud with an annoying ring - that's the way I remember them, as I said these speakers are accurate. If you don't use a sub, go with the SuperOne. The XU case is pretty cool looking as well and the wall mount they use I've seen advertised for $25/pair. These speakers are an excellent buy.

Strength:

Clear, accurate sound. Good imaging.

Weakness:

sounds a little hard or artificial

Great sound for the money. You may like the sound of this speaker by itself for a few months but I think subwoofer is a must to make the sound bloom and listenable for a long time. This means that the actual cost for music making based on this speaker is about $500.

Strength:

Spacious soundstage, reasonable treble, just about the best speaker at this price range!

Weakness:

More subtle detail would be nice (only a minor complain) and nonexistent bass due to the size

I have been listening to this pair of superzero for over 3 years now and I enjoy just about every minute of it. For this price range, I think NHT's superzero is unbeatable. Although I would love to have more detail from the speaker (but that's comparing to NHT's 3.3 and Sennheiser's HD580) it's soundstage is spacious and I don't think the treble is too intrusive as others have said. I would love to have more bass, but the non-existence of bass make sure that other frequency range performs as well as it does. My integrated amp from NAD (C340) matches with superzero very well. Both product are highly recommended if you are considering a budget system.
