Strength:

tight bass, wide deep stage, Airy highs overall great sound

Weakness:

They took alittle getting used to on the eyes but now I think they are beautiful.

Dont you hate it when someone makes a review just to lower rating of a producted and dont even own it because thats the only way that the first Ryan could have came up with his review. I own these speakers and Just like every one else I find them to be awesome. I listen to all kinds of music since I a percussionist and when i list to Percussion on fire I wowed by the way the make me feel like I''m there. I''m only powering these with an H/K 320 but they seem to have alot more left in them. There great

Strength:

Excellent Stereo Image and Credible Sound Staging

Weakness:

no real weakness

Sadly I must department with my Paradigm 9se mk3 since my inception into fatherhood. Before I give them up, I want to ensure that I give them their due credit. These speakers are bar none my best pair of speakers. They are better than my Tannoy and B&W. Canada has produced an exceptional quality speaker which they should be very proud of. I ran a complete Paradigm home theater system including 9se mk3, cc-300, adp-150 and PS1200. They worked great together. 9se mk3 were bi-amped, power supplied by Marantz SR870 reciever(110W 3 front channels and 75W rear channels) and NAD Power Envelope 2200(200w per side at 8 ohms). By bi-amping, the speaker it becomes noticably open sounding and provide extermly realistic sound stage. These speakers are meant to be bi-amped. Like the other reviewers have said if you can find a used one buy it.

Strength:

Deep bass even without sub-woofer.

Weakness:

Size.

My friend recommended me to take a look at Paradigm's speakers when I am souring for info to set up my HT in 1995. I check the Paradigm wedsite then and decided upon the 9seMk3 for its frequency response of a low 32Hz as I did not intend to get a sub then (subsequently I get a Center CC-150 and Micro for surround but I still do not have a sub now at Year 2000).

It perform relatively well with CD, reproducing the high with ease. I feels that the mid-range is a bit lacking. The 8" drivers make gun shoot effect from "The Rock" and "Die Hard" sound tight and with good clarity.

I would agree it really need a high power receiver to make it sing. Anyway, eventually I will get a bigger and better receiver and I will want it with the 9seMk3.

Definitly an excellent speaker, like the previous reviewer, grab one if you see one in the resell market.

Strength:

Incredible imaging. Nice big tight bass, natural sounding, and smooth.

Weakness:

There are none. :-) The model is not available anymore!

I guess I like Canadian speakers. I bought them in February of 1996 for $750.00 CDN. I paired them with Yamaha's RX-V470 AV receiver - (3 x 55W LF, RF, Centre, 2 x 15W rear) and a Yamaha CDC-735 5 CD changer. Simple and clean (and the best I could afford right after college).

I'm more into music (Alternative, Rock, R&B, Pop, Classical, Opera, and Techno)than surround sound so I want it clean and like to play it loud (enough). The receiver is pretty clean, performs well and at 55 watts, kicks out enough juice for the speakers to give me pleasure. I can only imagine when I get a high power receiver (they are rated to handle 150w RMS) - so you can imagine.

Just to let you know, I'm sticking with what I've got. For the price and performance I still get - I don't need to upgrade.

Paradigm has set a definite example with this 100lb. pair of smile producing, hair raising, and tear jerking dynamos. What can I say - I get emotional when it comes to my music!! HA HA

Simply put - these babies are beautiful! Today, I can say I am still being pampered. Speakers are very personal, but I can honestly say hey can play any type of music accurately. To the contrary of other reviewers, I find they play classical very well. I recently thought of upgrading and discovered that I should've bought 4 instead of just 2. I haven't heard anything as good as my 9SeMk3's up to the $2000 CDN. mark that even comes close.

One more thing. I recently wanted to upgrade my speakers or something so instead, I bought new speaker cable and put it on last night. I bought 2 x 4 feet of XLO-Pro 1200 cable for the 9SeMk3's for $95.00 CDN. I had cheap 14 guage wire before. What a huge difference in sound the XLO cables make. Totally impressive bass improvement and more detail. Best hundred bucks I ever spent.

Guys, you are right when you say these speakers are irreplaceable. In my books, these speakers have increased in value big time.

It's pretty sad when you're only having a love affair with a great set of speakers!! :-)

I will be auditioning the Paradigm 90P's ($1,700.00 CDN) because they have built-in subs. Let's see how they compare.

Strength:

These are very strong speakers with full sound at all levels.

Weakness:

None!

I purchased these speakers as part of a complete home theatre package in the early/mid 90's. The package included these 9seMk3's, Paradigm rear and centre channel speakers, and a complete package of JVC top of the line audio / video components. I have been totally satisfied from day one with the 9seMk3's. I would recommend making sure you have an excellent receiver to get the full range of sounds to these incredible speakers. Wish I could get my hands on a second pair to further enhance my home theatre experience!

Strength:

Absolutlely top notch sonic quality. Good bass but doesn't drown out the clarity.

Weakness:

None at all. Bought FLOOR model 6 years ago and they still sound like day one.

Paradigm makes some of the best speakers in the industry for cheaper than the competition. These speakers have never let me down. My friends heard them and they all went out and bought Paradigms as well because they were so blown away by them.

Soon I will have a complete Paradigm matched-system with equal cones. I can't wait. I just picked up the CC-370 center channel and Mini-Monitors for the rears to go with my 9seMKIIIs.

The only speaker I've ever heard that sound better than Paradigms are B&W ($$$), which cost $1000 a speaker, and Paradigm Reference which are the premium line at a price. You will not regret purchasing these well priced speakers.

If you're in the market for speakers in this price range, there is no substitue. The Monitor 9's are the current model version of the 9seMKIIIs with a few upgrades. Go buy them. There's a reason they win the best speaker award in their price range for 10+ years in a row.

I will only buy Paradigms for the rest of my life. I am that sold on these speakers. I will never buy any other brand of speaker. I wish I could find this kind of long term quality in a good receiver.

I have had my pair of Paradigms for about three years now. I bought them just before the full re-design of the Paradigm line. This translates to the fact that my speakers (I don't even think they make them anymore), are a little different than the available products on the market today. They have soft tweeters, and a somewhat different cosmetic appearance in that the grille is not quite as rounded as their replacement's, the Monitor 9's.
Anyway, I have had a chance to listen to just about any kind of "audiophile"
speaker that is available and feel the Paradigms truly hold their own.
They have a very clear, very powerful sound that has always been very pleasing
to my musical tastes. Be warned, though, these bad boys MUST be positioned safely away from the rear wall--thay love to give you muddy bass. Don't get me wrong, the bass is nice, but if you pull them out about 2 ft. from the wall, the sound really opens up and becomes, well, excellent. Keep in mind I am running these with a powerful amplifier (the Parasound HCA-1000A @ 125 WPC) that makes me envision a Heineken VS. Pabst battle when I swith back to my Yamaha reciever's power.
If you want a great speaker for the money, but one which you MUST feed a lot of power to really see what they do--buy them, by all means, buy them. I guarantee you will not be sorry.

P.S. The Parasound Amplifier is almost required equipment when it comes to these beasts, the mating of Parasound's clean POWER and Paradigm's excellent sound can be a very moving experience. I would recommend no other, other than maybe adding a Paradigm PW2200 powered Subwoofer--this will leave you in rapture. . .

The Paradigm 9se Mk3 speaker isn't made anymore, but if you get an opportunity to get a used pair, it would be a great addition to your system. These speakers can really sing when used with quality electronics. Many people have said they don't sound good on classical music, but I disagree. Any genre of music is reproduced quite wonderfully. You can really get caught up in the music with these speakers, and many times has the hair on the back of my neck been raised by them.
