Strength:
Mid-range, detail, imaging, and quality.
Weakness:
bass becomes punchy on latest recordings I wanted great imaging and detailed speakers for the type of music I like to hear. Also, I wanted a pair of speakers to assimilate into a home theater system. With the Paradigm Monitor 9's - I was able to achieve both and at a great price. With music, the mid-range is very detailed and yet not overproduced. The highs are clear and powerful. The bass, on certain cd's, can become punchy and boomy. I've noticed this happening more frequently on recent recordings. I think the music industry is producing more boomy bass recordings, just like the ridiculus bass output in current movie houses - thats my conspiracy theory thought of the day. In conclusion, I feel that I have made a very smart buy. Over engineered products for a good price equals a great value in my book. Paradigm has forced me to become a repeat customer. Clear, Good Bass.
Weakness:
no one my ears can hear I really like these when I unpacked and Installed by my self, these are my first pair of speaker for my HT and stereo system. Sometimes I don´t really my subwoofer ( paradigm PS-100 ) to hear strong bass. I used for listening music, almost every kind of music, and good movies too, all my speakers sound terrific, spcially for my neighboords, specially when I playing for example, MATRIX the movie. This couple goes wery well from music to the movies. Similar Products Used: old infinity |

Strength:
Awesome sound. Good bass
Weakness:
None Did a lot of shopping for tower speakers in the $500-$700 range and had it narrowed down to the PSB Image series until I heard the Monitors. These completely blew the PSB away. The Monitors have great bass and awesome clarity. I use my system for 70%music and 30%HT. I've thrown all types of music at them and they handle anything. Movies also sound great. Can't find anything better for the price. Similar Products Used: PSB |

Strength:
Good all-around sound for an EXCELLENT price!
Weakness:
Structure could be a little more solid, but . . . . .doing that would increase the cost a couple to a few hundred dollars. These speakers are the "Jackie Joyner Kersey" of speakers. They are excellent performers in all most everything they are tested with. Bass is Great; Treble is Great; Mid's are great; Price is great! I listen to . . . EVERYTHING, and I wanted a speaker that would perform well in . . . EVERYTHING. The monitor 9's do just that! Are there better performers out there? Of course! That's the nature-of-the-beast. The real question is, Are there better speakers out there in the same price range? Absolutely NOT!!!! (I personally challenge anyone to find a better valued speaker). Strength:
Tight bass, ornate & crystalline high end.
Weakness:
No spikes - too much boom appears. Not enought time to break them in - too much glare. The handles on the boxes are weak - I dropped one of the speakers on the way in the house. The speakers provide greater detail to the music I have been playing for months on my Celestions of 15 years of age. I am hearing things that I have never noticed before. The bass is more consistent (meaning the lowest sounds do not change their volume as the pitch of the notes change), and the ability of the speaker to respond to sudden changes in volume in a recording beautifully. Unlike other reviewers, I have not noticed Boominess in the bass or brashness on the high end - now that the speakers are broken in properly. In short, the sound from these speakers is so ornate and clean that my wife and I can sit and listen to songs we have enjoyed together for years - like the Kellog's commercial: "try it for the first time - again". Strength:
Great sound overall - very accurate, open, and spacious. Nice full bass and good high-frequency extension. Very little background noise.
Weakness:
Upper midrange is a little silibant and the lower midrange sounds slightly nasal on some CD's. I would summarize these speakers as being great for HT, and good for music. In movies, the dialogue comes through very clearly. In music, the midrange is merely average, but bass and treble are excellent. The largest flaw I can find in these speakers is that the upper midrange is a little forward (~7khz). While this adds a sense of clarity to some instrumental passages, it also adds silibance to some female singers' voices. This can be easily remedied through some darker sounding components (amp, CD, etc.) Overall, there's not much to dislike about these speakers. I consider its flaws to be trivial. Strength:
Good sound; clear and strong
Weakness:
none Theese speakers are great. My friend has them and they rock! His dad's using them as the rears now but before we watched Independence day (when the spach ships were blowing up the buildings) The sound was great. At first, I thought they had the volume up loud, but then, when I heard the guy talk, it was normal volume, It's just because you can hear so many sounds that you don't usally hear. (they go good with the mini's for rears) I'm looking forward to getting my home theater system. It will include: Paradigm Legends(fronts) a CC 170, and Titans for the rears. I can't wait. If it's half as good as the 9's, I'll be pleased. Similar Products Used: mini monitors |
