Weakness:

Unfortunately too large for my new place.

Epic speakers, but I've recently moved to a smaller home, and I need to sell these gems. If interested, please email me: jarret@alpinestudios.com.

I must say that anyone that thinks the bass is limited on these speakers need to look elsewhere for the weak link in their system. I was driving the speakers with a Sony STR-DA777ES receiver and they sounded good, bass may have been a little thin. I have since then upgraded to an Aragon 8002 amp for my main channels. This amp is only 125W @ 8 ohm (same as my receiver), but made a significant improvement in the bass region. Anyone that wants more base from these speakers, get a good amp. You already have it. You amp is not capable of giving the speakers what they want.

Well, here goes more of the same-- These speakers are sweet, clean, smooth, and musical. In spite of the contradiction, they're also detailed and accurate. They're subtle. They're BAD. Mine are driven thru Rotel CD, Amp, and Preamp.

Strength:

Huge image depth, very clear, tight bass, quality build, best bang for your buck.

Weakness:

None

I bought these speakers after searching for a replacement to my old AR Hi Res units. Being of similar size and capacity they fitted right into my space requirements. These speakers are amazingly clear and have a very wide and dynamic range, especially on vocals. I've only had them a short while so I expect them to get a lot better through time. My amp is also under powered and does not do true justice so I'm saving up for a matching power amp. I believe these speakers work well with higher, bi-amped power. But the best part of these speakers is the price. You can't go wrong with CAN$1950, including tax (that's only US$1200). Possibly even worth a drive up to Canada! The ratings here speak for themselves.

Strength:

Full range of sound. Great for that old vinyl collection. Looks are stunning. Could not be more solid.

Weakness:

A bit large for a small room. But well worth it.

Let me tell you, these Paradigm Studio 100s were the best purchase I have ever made. Mixed with a Rotel RSP-1066 and a Sherbourn 5/5210 I have never heard it's equal in this price range. Sure if you are willing to spend 100 grand you can find better, but who really has that kind of money? I have stopped going to the movie theaters because of this system. And my 2-channel sounds wonderful. Sing it Louis.

Strength:

mids and highs are incrediblly crisp, clean exellent clarity and spatial imaging

Weakness:

Low end not bad but not great either, size quite large, power hungry

I had these on an old Yamaha RXV595 receiver and was really disappointed in the way they sounded with 75 watts on them. I went and bought the new Yamaha RXV3300 rated at 130 x 6 and man what a difference they really came alive these are the best sounding speakers I have ever heard. The mids and highs are out standig. They are a little weak on the low side but if you add a powered sub they are incredible.

I have used the Studio 100's for over a year. In that time, I have used an NAD integrated, Denon AVR 5800, Mark Levinson integrated, and Anthem SSP and amp to drive these speakers. Here are a few tips on these speakers. First, people who write here that the Studio 100's have this sound or that are describing their upstream components. Every time I switched out the amp or SSP or source, the sound changed--- noticably. I recently purchased the B&W SIGNATURE 805's--- perhaps the finest speakers money can buy in terms or transparency and resolution. The Studio 100's are not quite as transparent or as detailed. But let me say how impressed I am with these speakers overall strengths. And their transparency and detail resolution are still remarkable--- I did't fully appreciate this until I bought the Mark Levinson No. 383 (which I use in my 2 channel rig upstairs with the B&W). Folks, you would have to spend $10K to get a speaker that from top to bottom will have you convinced that you have "moved up" and even then I'm not so sure given my demos of the B&W Nautilus 802's and Martin Logan Prodigy's suggest. EXTRAORDINARY VALUE and SUPERB SPEAKERS PERIOD!

Strength:

Beautiful full range sound. Very solid construction. These are tanks. The enclosure is completely dead even at high volumes. Great for all types of music or home theater.

Weakness:

Loose binding post on one of the speakers. I fixed this by opening the speaker terminal on the rear and tightening the loose post with a wrench.

After owning the 100s for about 1 month, I could not be happier. The clarity and full range sound are amazing. These speakers need a quality amplifier to drive them. The impedence curve drops to below 4 Ohms for much of the bass range (where most of the power in music occurs). I think Paradigm should rate these at 4 Ohm nominal. I am using an Adcom GFA-5500 and am really happy with the sound. No tone controls are needed. The bass is tight and powerful and the mids-highs are extremely smooth. I have the black laminate and am very happy with the look.

Strength:

High range has no sibilance or shrillness, (hence no fatigue), Mids are spectacularly clear and liquid, Bass response is flat in my sound room to below 26Hz and subwoofers are not a consideration. What more could you ask for. Did I mention affordibility, bang for the buck.(I don't want to scare off the more money than sense crowd with that statement)

Weakness:

There are none...

These are some of the most underrated speakers in musicdom today period! Too bad they're not $12,000, then even the upper class "audiophile" crowd would have to rant and rave about them too... These speakers, (Reference 100's V2) are simply incredible for their FULL RANGE reproduction quality, virtually all scientific measurement qualities, and most of all, with all that wishwash aside, they simply reproduce sound as all speakers should I suppose, ACCURATELY...
