Strength:

The highs are sweet not shrill.Mids are crystal clear.Bass is tight not boomy. All around great sound.Real bang for the buck

Weakness:

over sized binding post(3/8) require larger spade terminators on speaker end of cable

First i want to thank everyone for all the reviews on these speakers (125) I read 120 of them before my purchase.I started out listening to the vandeerstein 2c's as suggested by a friend.Very musical but not high effecient enough. Also was not crazy about the cloth grills that surround the speaker..Took my wife with me the second time to hear the steins to get her opinion. After listening she asked the dealer what were those other large speakers in the sound room.(studio 80's)He hooked them up and we were amazed by the punch and dynamics they produced although they seemed not to be fully broken in yet.I called another audio salon in long island(audio breakthroughs) and was told they also carried the paradigm line. When I arrived I was dissapointed they didn't have the 100's in their showroom. But they did have the studio/60's.After auditioning the 60's extensivily(brought my own cd's)I fell in love. They offered me the studio/100's for $1600/pair.My wife deciede if the 60's sound this good why not go for the 100's and be done with it.About two weeks later they were delivered to my door step/Thanks to the reviews on this site I was prepared for what I heard.Tight and bright sound. My amp was an onkyo tx515proII 80 wpc which is capable of of handling 4 ohm loads.I was using 10 gage monster cable single wire.I had ordered acarian systems /Black Orpheus cable from my dealer terminated with 3/8 spade lugs to fit the oversized binding post of the paradigms which took three weeks to arrive(specially made). While awaiting the new cables I broke in the 100's everyday alternating from flat tone control to selective tone(more bass)on the onkyo playing everything from jazz to rock to reggea. One bi wired with the new cables the 100's started to really open up wide. They sound like a whole different speaker bi wired.Yes these babies do need some power behind them to really sing.I had to be carefull not to over drive the onkyo reciever. But the reciever never sounded better.I have since upgraded my system to the new parasound Halo seperates.(A23 amp 125 wpc 8 ohms 200wpc 4 ohms)P3 pre amp and T3 tuner. No review on these yet so I guess I'll be a first. What a deference.More power makes the paradigms really thump.I hear music from my cd's I have never heard before.Even tapes I had previously recorded from my local smooth jazz station have come alive. The sound stage is awsome.

Strength:

sound great with a powerful amp, looks arent bad with finish.great soundstage, loud if you need it. great all the way around!

Weakness:

need a big amp, i reccomend 150rms x2 MINIMUM, and i would suggest around 220-250rms

let me say this if you have around the 2k area to spend buy them, then save for a bryston 4b amp used off audiogon.com or a classifieds(got mine for $550 with 11 yrs warranty and mint shape) and a bp-25(again used for $450 15yrs warranty left/mint) and a bp-25 bryston preamp and for maybe all for under 3k you will have a kick butt high end system. the 4b's compliment the paradigms perfect. these speakers need a good amp, if your using a receiver, even a good one, buy the studio 20s or up to the 60's. these 100's need power or the bass low end sucks.for home theater just use 4 studio 20's and a studio cc, unless you got thousands to spend for lil difference with a sub. 100's to me are the very best speakers for your buck. if you got the money, get them!

Casual Listener

Strength:

Clear, loud, excellent soundstage.

Weakness:

A little lacking on bass, but still pretty good.

I've had the Studio 100 v2's for 5 months now, and I'm quite satisfied. They go pretty loud without distorting. They seem to favor the high frequencies, but this could be the source material (a lot of heavy metal). The bass is pretty good, but it would be nice if it were a little lower. For example, at loud volumes, they will distort on the shotgun blast of the club owner in Terminator 2, as well as the nuclear explosion. Also, they can't quite keep up with the double bass drums on Megadeth's live album, Rude Awakening. But I doubt most speakers can do this as that is what subwoofers are for. Still, the bass extension is quite low and good enough for most applications. The construction is solid, and they weigh a lot for their size. I give it a four overall which is relative to pure excellence, so that may be a five for most listeners.

Strength:

Sound, great looks (mine are in rosewood.)

Weakness:

Need a good amp. If you are running the 100s off a receiver's amps, you are not getting the worth of your money.

Bought them few months ago, cannot be happier. These speakers are very smooth (contrary to what other may say) and can go very deep, BUT you need a good amp. Without a good amp I'm not sure, I guess they may seem bright. Before I got an amp, I was running receiver's amps and the sound did seem skewed to the bright side because mid-low and low frequencies did not have enought punch. The amp smoothened the mids and extended the lows, so now it's just wonderful.

Strength:

Sweet mid- and high-range, soundstage, nice looks, lots of power

Weakness:

Initial quality problem (see above), could have a deeper bass extension and more power in low-range.

Great sounding speakers. Mid- and high-range is very clear, and soundstage is great. I think bass could be have little more extention. I compared to PSB Stratus Gold which is about the same price and difference in bass range (below 35 Hz) is quite noticeable. Also I had a very unusual problem with these speakers. Subwoofer cone was not glued well to subwoofer base, and I had to replace 3 out of 4 woofeers. Thanks to 5-year Paradigm warranty! I noticed the failure after ~6 months when I completely disconnected high- and mid- range drivers. Strength:

Clarity, music and theatre comes alive. They keep sounding better everyday!!1

Weakness:

None so far...

I bought the Studio CC before I bought my surrounds and mains (ADP's and 100's V2) based on user opinions. It sounded pretty awsome but I then became disenchanted with my mains (B&W 602's) and my surrounds (AM 10's great for small size and placement, ok as surrounds). So I started thinking... and looking... and listening and reading. I spent about a month going through the reviews here and demoing what I could find. I asked opinions and read that it would be better if I matched up. Finally I thought screw I'm gonna go for it and get them as the ones I got were listed as two weeks old on ebay. He wasn't lying they are brand new, not a speck on them and the price was right. My B&W's were well worn in and I sure like the sound of them at lower volumes, so when I first hooked these babies up to my reciever (Denon 5700) I was a little disappointed as I was expecting a huge difference in sound but to me they sounded a bit bright and flat in the mids. I knew that really needed a break in as according to the guy I bought them from they only had about 30 hours on them, so I left them on everyday at a pretty good clip for two weeks straight. I always view tv with them on as well and by the second week they started to come around. Now everything is sounding so clear and lively I can't believe my ears. My wife was pretty ticked that I went out and spent them money on the speaker that I did (ADP's, CC, 100's) as she felt that what I had was perfectly fine. I was able to recoupe some of the cost by selling everything but still she was Pi**ed. Haha now I have the last laugh. She likes her techno. We go out and get a little buzz one nite with a friend of hers and she wants to here this techno cd when we get back. So I pop it in and CRANKED it. There jaws about hit the floor. This place was jumping and it was DAMN loud but it was so crystal clear that it didn't seem loud. Unfortunatly a bit to incredible as I woke the neighbor (3 am) who lives about 200 feet from me. She said it was the bass. Anyway the wife is now totaly sold on these things. Tonight she was saying how she hates to listen to music in the car anymore because it sounds horrible. To sum it up, I auditioned a lot of speakers and the only better IMO was Monitor Audio GR 60's at three times the price. There pretty incredible but not that much better :)

Strength:

Price, separation, DEEP bass, clarity, looks, versatility....I could go on and on.

Weakness:

Heavy. There is no doubt about that. Other than being very tall, however, their size is not what you'd think they would be after lifting them.

I don't think that I can say anything more than what has been stated in previous reviews that will better explain the versatility and quality of these speakers. I followed these reviews and others throughout a two year qwest to find the "perfect" set of main speakers, and the number of fives you find here sums up what I found. I found no speaker in this price range (or $3-5K more)that comes close to the performance of the 100s. Speaker preference is so subjective that you have to listen for yourself with your music before you make a decision to buy. My music tastes vary widely from heavy metal to classical, and I also enjoy great home theater sound. These speakers open up your music like never before. I think another reviewer said it best when he said that you will find yourself listeing to your whole CD collection to hear how the music is truly to be heard. The separation that these speakers give music is most revealing with "busy music" like Dream Theater (or other progressive rock) or large orchestral music. You can distinctively hear all of the instruments with the 100s. I even demoed these next to Paradigms Ref 80s, and the greater separation with the 100s was easily heard. Depth and bass are also a strong characteristics with the 100s. All you have to do is listen to anything with loud booms (e.g. Classical bass drum) or large soundstage music (any kind). You will find yourself being able to point to the various sections and instruments. It's amazing for this price of speaker. What's more is that they aren't very directional as some speakers can be.

Strength:

Every aspect of speaker measurement and or comparison... Especially bang for the buck.Five Stars Not Enough******

Weakness:

Slightly large, but not considering the sound they reproduce

Nothing close below $6500.00. Flat response to 29Hz, great dynamics, midrange is spectacular, no need for subwoofer, likes high SPL's as well as moderate levels. Currently bi-amped, you dont need Five Gazillion dollars worth of source equipment to have TRUE audiophile grade sound!!!!!
