I don't own these speakers, but I have heard them. I've been an audio enthusiest for over 20 years. I've never cared for the term "audiophile", as it sounds too self appreciating. I've never cared for the terms "lo-fi", "mid-fi", or "hi-end" either, as sound can always improved for more dollars, but fine systems can be put together with exellent sound qualities, even on tight budgets, and without brand preference bias. The Paradigm Reference Studio Speaker systems will display first rate qualities in their respective price ranges. As for Jake's review below, I did my Paradigm audition with Conrad-Johnson Premiere amp and pre, and Meridian transport. These "reveiling" electronics coupled with the Paradigm's would do nothing to discourage a Paradigm purchase. No, I have not heard a live upright bass shake the room, but if I miked it, recorded it, and played it back through a powerful amp and speakers that go deep, I'd bet I could. And I'd bet it would still sound like an upright bass. How much wine did you have before the seminar? That pumkinhead review you did tells us alot about how these speakers sound. John, I like B&W too, but I find the Paradigm's every bit as "hi-end". And better built. Their enclosures are second to none, and their drivers, built in-house, exude quality. My audition didn't deliver any ssssssssssssss. I did get clarity, nice imaging, tight bass, and wide soundstaging. I may just buy the 100's, and have the last laugh. |

These are very good speakers, easy on the ears, the bass is very tight and the mids and highs |

Great high end, and a tight (but not stunning) bass response. The problem I've found is the midrange is somewhat grainy/undefined. Could be because my listening room is stuffed with large couches & a thick rug. |

I listened to the Studio 60's for over an hour at Audio Video Design in Raleigh, NC yesterday. At first I was impressed, and the bass was quite nice. After listening to the Monitor 5's, though, I found the Studio 60's to sound muddy and not as bright as the Monitor series. I am the type of person that loves SCREAMING highs, with as much brightness as possible. From all of the other reviews, I was expecting a perfect blend from the Studio 60's, but what I heard sounded like it was in a foot of mud. Decent sounding, but for $1100-US retail, I came out better buying the $530-US Monitor 7's. I love 'em bright. |

I own a pair of the studio 100, and running them with a Mark Levinson 33 300 mono block.and they sound phenomenal so Jake's comment was not taken very well. I have close to 100k in my system and these speakers fit in very nicely. |

NOT GOOD!!!!!!! WAY too bright. The metal tweeters just spit and spit and spit. If you have electronics that might be bright, stay away!!!!! Maybe O.K. for home theatre. I am using them for music and dislike them. I will be dumpint them soon for either a pair of" Energy C6's, Martin Logan Aerius, Thiel 1.5's. Please help!!!!! |

I own a pair of Paradigm Reference 60's and would not trade them for the world. The highs are smooth, non fatiguing and extended. The midrange is warm and natural. The bass is full and tight but not really really low. There is no SSSSSSSS. I have heard this speakers with all kinds of electronics (high end, low end , bright, dull). The two gentlemen who hacked Paradigm should consider two things. First Paradigm speakers require a substanial break in (200 hours) before they really get into their groove. As well the thing that I have noticed is they are very revealing, so if you have a weak link in your system chain it will become GLARING obvious. I highly reccomend Paradigm Reference speakers (short on space or bucks try the 20's) to any one who wants a fantastic speaker with an even better price ($1249 Canadian). As for Paradigm being worrying about doing nothing but selling, lets remeber that they are in business to make money and do so buying sell great products at even better prices. They are also one of the only companies that can claim to make everything themselves (down to the little plastic name plates) to help bring you better prices. One last thing I think that anyone who does not submit there e-mail address should not have their review posted (COWARDS). Four chili's, they need better price for five (maybe the Studio 100's). |
