Jake, you really impress me! You really know your stuff! All that's left is for you to grow a brain between those golden ears of yours. Canada is every bit as capable as the almighty US of A when it comes to high end audio. No, we don't have as much resources or as large of a market. And our smaller companies don't show up often in your glossy magazines, some not at all. But any audiophile with some maturity and open-mindedness would see beyond that and realize how good music sounds up here in the Great White North. These speakers are worth more than the $1050 I paid for them. What I really like about them is the neutral and smooth midrange and the superb imaging. I find them quite generous with the bass, so I have the front baffles about five feet from the back wall. When properly set-up and fed competent electronics, these speakers WILL deliver the goods. I drive them with an Audiolab 8000A int. amp and an Arcam Alpha 7 cd player connected with AQ Crystal speaker cable and a Tara Labs Ref Gen 2 interconnect. Great sound, better price. |

Strength:
Smooth and precise, wide soundstage
Weakness:
none yet Last August i was shopping for a tower speaker to satisfy both my music and HT needs, after visiting many dealers in the area i end up to the local Paradigm dealer had start earing their Monitor 7 and 9 which please me but still was'nt in love with. After expanation on my tough the saleman a real Hi-Fi guys bring me to the other room and let me listen to the Reference speakers. what a heartbreak it did to me. Still non sure we took time to place the 60 wand the Monitor 7 side by side and listen to my music. incredible different in soundstage and liveness ,I was blown away. Not 9 month later and many many hours of listining, the enjoyment is even better. They are really acurate and still affordable, go listen to them, you will see what I mean. Then you will buy their Center speaker like I did. Go for it listening is still the only real measurement for speaker. Similar Products Used: Nuance, Energy, Kef |

Strength:
Not a whole lot-price maybe because I bought a pair of demos.
Weakness:
Tiring treble, lack of bass and soundstage I lived with the Paradigm Studio 6o v2's for a year and recently sold them. No depth of soundstage, tiring high end, and ear fatigue after about an hour of listening, and I had quality electronics powering them. Be careful about buying into the Paradigm hype machine-they are really really good at saturating advertising space with their own sound bites from favorable reviews. Personally I think there are a lot better speakers out there for the price. |

Great speakers. I compared them to PSB goldies and other high end speakers. These speakers provide more clarity and tighter bass than most expencive speakers in the market. These speakers are not 100% full range speakers, they do lack a bit in the bass area due to there small cones but they excell in the mid and high area where the larger speakers Ive heard dont come close. For what they are I will give them 5 stars. I am still looking for a deal on the studio 80's, if you know something tell me about it. |

I've had these speakers for almost a year and have been very impressed by them -- especially considering the price. There are very few speakers in the sub-$2000 price level that come across as both accurate and musical in my experience. For years I thought Alon's entry-level floor-stander ($1500 or so) alone was the only model (that I heard) that equaled the performance of the Martin-Logan Aerius and mid-level B&W's. Without hesitation I can now add the Paradigm Studio 60 to that list. The 60's do just about everything with aplomb -- mostly because they don't try and do too much. Terrific, well-defined bass to about 40Hz (like the Aerius), and a very natural, revealing midrange. The highs are free from excessive brightness but not unlively in any way. At times, it must be said, that the highs can be a bit ripe with harsh recordings. Used within the context of my reasonable system (NAD 515 changer, Rotel RB-981 amp, Rotel RC-995 pre-amp, MIT Terminator 2 bi-wire cable and interconnect) the Paradigms perform extremely well. There's nothing out there I've heard (this includes recent auditions of NHT's, Linn's, Mirage's, and B&W's) that makes me want to rush out and drop another grand or so. Sure, there are better speakers if you're willing to spend above $2000 (most notably the Aerius -- provided you have the amp), but there's nothing significantly better in the Paradigm's price range that I've heard. Check it out if you're in the market. And, remember, it's about the MUSIC, not keeping up with the Jones'!!! |

I just traded up to the Reference 60's from the Monitor 7's. Much smoother and transparent highs without any harsh bright sound. Midrange is articulate and natural sounding. Bass is deep, well defined and you will not miss much unless you are into organ music or are a bass freak. The image is pinpoint & precise, musicians/instruments are very easy to "see" with your eyes closed. Soundstage is wide and deep. Build quality is second to none, and believe me, I've seen Alon, Thiel, etc. and their craftsmanship is gorgeous. This is one of the few speakers that I can sit and listen to for many hours without getting "hearing fatigued". Spend the little extra for the beautiful veneer version, mine is light cherry - awesome!! This speaker gives you 90-95% of the performance that speakers costing 3 times as much give you. I highly recommend it and will live very happily with it for years to come. Oh.....by the way, if you need a little more bass but want to keep the best attributes from above, check out the Reference 80's or 100's, still great bang for the buck! |

Strength:
Almost Everything about them is awsome
Weakness:
Little bit light on the bass, though what it has is very clear. I have had these for almost a year. I like the tweeters on the paradigms much more that most of the speakers I have listened to, though I don't listen to $5000+ sets of speakers often. These speakers make even poor amps (like mine) sound good. (I'm a college student, so I have to make due.) They sound great in HT as well as music. Like I said before, these speakers do not have alot of bass. But what can you expect for a ~6 inch driver. Overall an excellent speaker. As for all those losers who bash speakers other than their own to get their jollies, GET A F-ING LIFE! Similar Products Used: klipsch |

Strength:
Finish in the veneer
Weakness:
Possibly price I have a pair of very old Infinity's with the Emit tweeter. One of the tweeters is dying and it's time to replace the speaker since the driver is no longer manufactured. I had settled on a budget of $1500 for a comparable speaker. My first mistake was to listen to Martin Logans and the Maggies, talk about soundstage! However both of these speakers have their shortcomings namely home theater and sweet spot. So, I looked for a 35% HT speaker and the rest music, possibly creating two systems this of course lowered my budget to around $1000. Similar Products Used: Monitor 7, 9, Magnepan, Infinity, ML |

Strength:
warm sound (if you like that)
Weakness:
just to many You know I really really tried to like this speaker. The price is right, they look nice, but that is about it. I really couldn't find anything that really stood out or excelled above other speakers. They sounded small and boxy. The studio 80 is another story, these sounded great. They aren't the best thing you can buy for 2K but they sound much better than the 6o's. Make sure you listen to other speakers in this price range. Just try any of the Monitor audio silver series and you will just hate any others. Similar Products Used: monitor audio silver 5i, 9i |
