Strength:

General build quality, tonal accuracy of sweet highs, finely nuanced liquid mids, and the truly surprising solid, taut, relatively deep bass presentation. OK soundstaging, too. Given decent caliber gear and adroit positioning, these suckers are a sonic wonder to behold. Nice looking in the cherry finish.

Weakness:

None at this price point, save not being able to remove the grill covers to see what's driving these puppies (I like my speakers naked).

While living temporarily at my brother's place, I was forced by limited space to create a system that would work within the confines of my situation. These speakers were highly recommended, and for the price and brand quality I figured I couldn't go wrong. Upstream equipment was a Rotel RB 1070 amp, Adcom GFP 750 preamp (primarily on "active" setting), and Rotel RCD 991 Audiophile Edition CD player. Interconnects were Nordost Blue Heaven pre to amp and balanced Kimber Silver Streak CD to pre, with Kimber Monocle X cabling. Granted, this was definite overkill, but the results couldn't be denied. These speakers were stunning, true giant killers in the bang-for-the-buck department. An awesome achievement; they sounded like bookshelf boxes costing 3 or 4 times as much, and will be in my small "everyday" system for a long time to come (it's back to the Hales Design Group Revelation 3's in the big rig). Really mind and ear-blowing. Way to go, Paradigm.

Weakness:

Stands are extra ($70 a pair)-- The stands are made out of real wood, that's a plus.

Let me say that I looked at alot speakers from July - Oct (mostly Paradigm, Athena Tech. and Polk). I found some really sweet speakers but I was starting from scratch and couldn't afford to spend $400 ea. for speakers. I truly believe that you can't go wrong with the Titans, especially if your working with a small budget. It is best to include a sub woofer because the difference is night and day. I listen mostly to rock (Joe Satriani, Dream Theater and Rush) and these speakers sound fine to me for music and H.T. I have had these speakers for 3 wks and it does take a couple weeks to break them in. Now people have complained about them being boomy or not accurate for high range. Well for 1) Suggest to me a better speaker in it's price range 2) A good sub (I'm using Phase Tech Power 8) will clean up the bass 3) Yes, the high end could be a little tighter, but if I spend $300 - $400 a speaker, then they should sound better. My set up. Rears: Paradigm Atoms (works well as surround speakers). Center: Paradigm CC 170 Receiver: Yamaha RV 630

Strength:

If your budget is tight, the Titans are a pretty reasonable solution - certainly better than the mass market crap that's out there. I'm very satisfied using them as fronts in my HT setup.

Weakness:

Paradigm made a critical error in the design by trying to pick up more bass than they are capable of accurately producing. To my ears, the boominess and slop in the bass is unacceptable. I'm suprised to hear people comment on "punchiness" with the bass performance in the Titans. That's not what I hear.

First, let me say that for the price point in consideration that the Titans are very respectable. For home theatre, when matched with a good centre and sub, they are absolutely acceptable, no question. For music, of almost any genre, they don't make the cut for me. Sorry, but the mini-monitor market is highly competitive, these are fine if your budget is seriously constrained - you can live with these. If you can spring for a little more $$$ (and you really care about music vs HT), consider other options.

Unfair comparison, but I have Linn Tukans in my main listening environment. The difference is astonishing. If you can afford an extra few hundred bucks and you care about music, well...

Strength:

Clean,Clear,Wide,Deep soundstage foran inexpensive MINI MONITOR.Accurate tonal balance, and excellent dynamics for a speaker its size.Performs extremely well in all different sizes of rooms whether small or large. In large rooms use 1 or more of Paradigm's subwoofers anywhere from the pdr10 upward in size. Believe it or not I'm going to keep my Titan V2's for a long time.I won't be upgrading to the Version 3's only because I've been told that they don't sound that different.Paradigm Rocks!!!!

Weakness:

None Zero Zip Zilch

Let me begin by saying that PARADIGM really knows what their doing.I currently am the owner of a pdr10 subwoofer,a pair of TITANs,a cc170,and apair od adp170 surrounds, and they are all by far the best speakers I have ever owned. What I really love about them is their sonic accuracy. What you put in is what you get out! My TITANs (v2) by themselves have a sound which is comparable to speakers 3 or 4 times their price. They exude ,warmth , clarity, and above all accuracy. I disagree with the fellow who says that they lack in the bass department. The TITANs are not meant to be bass heavy, they are meant to be MINI MONITORS,and therefore give you a clean, clear, even ,wide, and deep sonic image however. That's why you buy a PDR10 or larger sub to compliment them.If you are in a small space then buy either 1 0r 2 pdr8 subwoofers.

Strength:

Clear Defined sound, Surprising Bass for the size.

Weakness:

None!

My old sub recently died. While out listening to different Subs (I wound up getting a Paradigm PDR-10) I heard the Titans (version 3) in Combo with the PDR-10. They sounded so good together, and the price was so good ($200 for the Titans, $300 for the Sub) I decided to get the Titans to replace my crappy old (Don't laugh) JVC tower speakers. I am quite surprised how good these sound for their size and cost. Music is more defined, individual instruments have a definition they did not have before. The same with movies, individual noises are more easily separated from one another. I'm really glad I got the Titans with the Sub. I think I am turning into a big Paradigm fan.

Strength:

Tight punchy bass, smooth treble, binding posts. Low cost

Weakness:

low range extension is a little weak

These speakers are excellent. Tight punchy bass, clear midrange and smooth treble. These sound great on their own in a small room, and with the help of a subwoofer should have no trouble with medium or large rooms. It is a bit lacking in low range extension but the upper and mid-bass is great. If you want some more low range extension these speakers would go well with a sub.

Strength:

good acoustics, bass is surprising, great for DVDs.

Weakness:

no complaints, other than the fact that you can't take the grill off.

Let me begin by saying these speakers rock. I have been using them for around 2-3 years now and they still manage to surprise me to this very day. I have them hooked to an old Technics amp circa 1970-something and they are by far the best speakers that I have ever heard. Other speakers that are more expensive just sound like crap compared to these. Great value too (considering I got them for Christmas, but that's beside the point). They are especially good for acoustic, unplugged stuff and will blow your mind when used for watching movies and such. As of now, I have absolutely no plans to get new speakers as these are still doing the trick after all this time. I highly recommend them, especially to people who are on a budget. You will be pleasantly surprised...

Strength:

Value Clarity Imaging. Purity of sound

Weakness:

Non removeable grill

After One year I still challenge anyone to find a better speaker value on the market anywhere. Crisp, clear, good bass for the size and price and when hooked up to a sub??? Unbelievable!! I can't tell you how many people have entered my den blindfolded and ended up shocked after they removed it. I have them in my Den as well as my Bar.

Strength:

Good performance for the price. Easy to improve sound quality.

Weakness:

Bass output. Needs a subwoofer to fill in the bottom end. Highs. Somewhat unrefined, but above average at the price.

Bought these several years ago, but inherited a pair of a/d/s L1590s so I no longer use them. Here are my thoughts: When I first listened to them, they were teamed up with a Paradigm 10" passive bandpass sub. Good, affordable combo ($350 total), but at that time I wanted more output, knowing I would be powering these with an external amp (Parasound HCA 800). So I bought a second 10" Paradigm sub. Surprising performance for the price, the only drawback was the bulk: Two ten-inch subs plus the Titans on speaker stands exceeds the space required by a large tower speaker. I enjoyed this system for about a year. The highs never seemed as crisp as I wanted, but the midrange was good for the price and the bass...output was extremely impressive. However, the Titans bass driver would "pop" at high volume, despite available reserve power from the amp and subs. So I bought an electronic crossover and Adcom GFA-545 and this transformed the entire system. Everything opened up and I was very suprised at the performance that is revealed when taken to the logical extreme. Conversely, when run in full range with a receiver, the Titans just seemd mediocre. A good speaker at an excellent price for low volume, mellow listening. Bottom line? The Titans are a good entry level speaker with more potential than is apparent on the surface. I realize most people have a limited budget, which draws them to the Titans, but they are a speaker which you can build a decent system around as your budget allows. As mentioned, a sub will fill out the bottom end, an amplifier will do wonders, gold plated interconnects improved my sound, a better CD player improved my sound, and 12 gauge wiring improved my sound. None of this makes it an audiophile speaker, but do represent significant improvements in sounds quality at a low cost (especially the wiring).
