I bought the Titans (used) a couple of years ago for the front speakers of my Home Theater set-up. Mounted on shelves on the sides of my TV stand off the floor and coupled with the Paradigm CC-100 center channel, the system sounds fantastic! The sound matching is seamless accross the front and the bass isn't too bad with the speakers off the floor. Intend to add a powered sub in the near future to round it out. For less than $400 (new) you couldn't ask for a better front set-up for a small-room home theater.

Strength:

Great sound from bookshelf size

Weakness:

None

I have been very pleased with this speaker. The combination of the Paradigm Sub PDR-8 and the Titans have surprised me after many years of ranting over my Misson speakers. I hooked each of them up and played the same CD Track to both and really couldn't tell much of a difference ( a bit in midrange ). These Missons cost me considerably more many years ago. I had Paradigm Atoms as my fronts which have now been moved to the rears. I have noticed more mids and bottom with the Titans than the Atoms.

Canada has produced a conciderable High Tech Reaserch Sound Facility, which the Canadian speaker manufactors have had access to and therefore have dramatically increased their technology at a lower cost.

I strongly believe that you will have to pay conciderably more to find a better bookshelf and or floorstanding speaker on the market than the Canadian products with Paradigm in the lead.

Strength:

Excellent sound for the price.

Weakness:

Low end is a bit boomy.

I wanted to get my first pair of mid-fi speakers, and I did some research for a few weeks around the internet. I am a college student, and am budget-limited. So I had to set a cut-off at $250. I called around to different local hi-fi shops, and asked about what kind of stock they had.

I was considering the Paradigm Atoms & Titans, B&W 302's, and Tannoy m1's. The only stock locally were the 302's and Paradigms. I eventually decided against the B&W's for I am limited to positioning in my small apartment. I wanted to stear toward more positioning-neutral speakers.

I auditioned the Atoms, Titans, and Mini-Monitors. I definitely heard improvements as the price increased. I didn't bring my own music, so I returned at a later date with my own disc. Immediately, I could tell that the Atoms were out of the picture. Their lack of a good low-end made the music I brought with me sound lifeless, and somewhat distant. I settled on the Titans. I would have really liked to have gotten the MiniMonitors, but they were $100 out of my budget.

After bringing the Titans home and hooking them up with 12 ga. zip-cord, I could immediately hear a HUGE improvement over my old Aiwa speakers. I was driving the Titans with the Aiwa unit for a while. I had a broken JBL/Urei 6260 that I attempted to salvage. I had to fix a blown fuse and replace a burned up resistor. I then put it in my system, and removed the Aiwa. The sound quality improved further. Highs became clearer and more pronounced, but not too harsh. The low end quickened up a bit, and lost a little of its mushy character.

Overall, I am greatly pleased with my sub $300 system. For the money, you would be hard pressed to do better than the Titans for the money. Their only weakness is a little coloring on the low end of the spectrum, giving the speakers a little bit muddier bass than I would like. I am sure that part of this is that I don't have enough room in my apartment to move them very far out from the wall (they are rear-ported). Beggers cannot be choosers, after all.

Strength:

Performance for the price. Almost fire proof.

Weakness:

None for the price

Anyone who has listened to these will recognise the value for the money. Is this the best in this price range? Very difficult if not impossible to decide. What really impressed me about these speakers is that when we had a fire in our house this past year, the cherry finish bubbled due to the heat, but the speakers still sounded good after the fire. No questions that these speakers were "burned in" (heh, heh).

Strength:

Great sound, low price, small package

I'm currently using a pair of Titan's as the front speakers in a HTS. My DVD/CD player is a Pioneer DV-333 and my receiver is a Yamaha RX-V595a. The titans sit on Premier stands (the ones shown in the Paradigm catalog) in my living room.

I bought these speakers after listening to a 5-year old pair that belonged to a friend. As soon as I got them we tried them out side-by-side with the old pair, and I was immediately disappointed. The tweeters were ear-splittingly bright.

However, after using these speakers in my apartment for the last 3 months they have broken in and now I'm very impressed with them. They are plenty loud and can deliver a surprising amount of bass. These are not really bookshelf speakers though, since they are pretty deep and they sound best when they are at least a foot away from a wall.

Overall, I don't think you could find speakers of this quality anywhere else at this price. I highly recommend them.

Strength:

Size, price, sound quality, designed for wall mounting, low weight(for wall mounting).

Weakness:

Non-removable grill cloth.

I bought these speakers to replace the KG2's in my bedroom. I wanted something less imposing that I could mount on the wall instead of using speaker stands. I had bought the Mini-monitors last year to use in the home office and was very impressed with the sound so I headed back to Absolute Sound in Winter park to check out the Atoms and Titans I had been hearing so much about. I told the salesman what I was looking for and he took me right to the Titans. They were mounted to a wall and powered by the new Marantz SR4120 stereo receiver (60 wpc), nothing high-end. I was immediately impressed with the sound and didn't even listen to the Atoms. I took them home, along with a pair of the Premier wall mount swivel speaker brackets, and hooked them up to the 9yr old Yamaha DPL receiver (RXV-850) I was using. Sounded was pretty good just sitting on the ends of the dresser. I left them on the dresser for a week running them during the day to break them in. Last night I finaly got them mounted on the walls the sound really opened up. During the process I also replaced the old Yamaha with a new Yamaha RX 596 stereo receiver. This combined with my 7 yr old Sony C79ES cd changer seems to really work well together. Using XLO ER-5 interconnects and basic 16awg ofc Tributaries speaker cable. Compared to the Mini-monitors the Titans lack a little bass and ultimate dynamics but otherwise they are pretty close. They throw a decently convincing sound stage and are great for vocals. Diana Krall sounds fantastic.

Strength:

great price, very accurate sound with a large range

Weakness:

I dont dare turn the volume up very high as they were rated for less input (they are plenty large for a medium size room, especially when they are used as rears)

I love these speakers, I have everything hooked up through my reciever (computer, DVD, TV, CD). They put out incredible sound for the price, and on a college students budget, I dont think I could have found a better speaker for cheaper.

Strength:

Cheap in price, binding posts, decent sound

Weakness:

You really need a crossover with these guys, that can't take the bass.

For the price they are worth using for back surround in a 7.1 surround Ex system. I paired these little guys with a 100 watt per channel amp for the rear surround and that is about all that they are good for. If you want a set of bookshelf speakers for crital listening, the Paradigm Titan is a poor choice in my humble opinion. I listened to them in the store where I bought them and Metallica's "One" really made these speakers bottom out in terms of bass. I had a 100 watt amp with the pre amp turned up to about 1/3 of the way up and I really had to turn it down. They sound good at low volumes or with a crossover. The quality of the sound is fair, the price was good so I bought them. I would recommend these speakers if you don't listen to music at high volumes or if you just need some cheap speakers for rear surround.

Strength:

ummm..they make music come out of them sort of....

Weakness:

just about everything they have terrible tweeters and handle zero power

well this is not goin to be a good review so if you want to read something positive about these speakers go to another review. If you want to know THE REAL DEAL about these poo poo speakers then READ ON BROTHER. I bought these speakers about a year ago because i needed a smallish speaker to pipe music into our dining area. well these little speakers showed me one thing that i didnt like right off the bat the tweeters sounded awful like something you would expext to hear out of that optimus garbage at radio shack or worse yet those carpeted speakers that you see at those weekend blowout sales that are held in civic centers. Also these little speakers cant handle any power whatsoever and they are of very low sensitivity so you HAVE to give them power to drive them to average listening levels. I didnt have these speaks hooked up to no crappy av receiver either they were being powered by a seperate pre amp and amp combo the amp is only rated at 100 watts into 8 ohms and i was hradly drivin the apeaker and guess what happened the crappy paradigm blew yuppers these tweeters in this awful speaker cant handle any kind of power at all. here is the best part though I opened the speaker after the tweeter fried to look at the driver and i found out why paradigm makes these apeakers with unremovable grills. One look inside this speaker told the whole story. this speaker uses some of the worst quality mass manufactured drivers i have ever seen. have you ever seen the stock drivers that come in your cars stereo system? well then you have seen what is in these garbage speakers. there is simply no excuse for the poor quality. and for all you reviewers who praise this speaker i say go get those ears checked immediately.
