Strength:
Sweet bass, and killer volume for old speaker
Weakness:
They don't make them anymore These realistic MC-1000's pump they are awesome speakers good high end and can go so loud that your ears just might bleed. The bass is strong and has a quick coil up and at the high volume it will never get muddy or foggy Similar Products Used: The klm rockwhopper |

Strength:
Tight Bass very little else
Weakness:
Ear-bleedingly harsh midrange Non-existent treble no soundstage I''ve had these speakers for about a year and a half, and have been disappointed with them for that entire duration. I have tried everything to make these sound good (positioning, upgrading electronics and cables), but have failed. I bought them because of my positive experience with Polk''s older Monitor 10B which I had owned for 15 years. Unfortunately , I was fairly uneducated in the realm of audio at the time. Here is my experience with the RT-2000p: Sounstaging is non-existant Mid-range is highly distorted I actually like the bass, and in my system is fairly tight and lean Where are the highs? I haven''t been able to find them yet... Midrange and up seems slow...no dynamic punch I now have 2 - 70 lb plant stands. Please do yourself and favor and audition some other speakers in this price range at some of the smaller stores. Some of the better bookshelf speakers will run circles around these. Trust me!!!
Weakness:
Do not trust Polk!!! To all you people that have rated Polk audio at least 3 stars or higher...all of you either have hearing problems or you just don''t know what good speakers sound like. well, I urge you to give those other brands (Energy, PSB, or even B&W) a try. You will find that good sound is something you''ll never EVER experience with Polks. Listen to all the people on this site that gave the Polks a rating of 2 stars or less, they know what they are talking about...they at least have an idea of what real sound actually should sound like. If you say,"I can''t afford any other brand besides Polk," thats crap because you can go shop on Ebay and find some really high end speakers for really good prices. Please take advantage of the peoples advice who dislike Polk in any way...we know what we are talking about. And it''s not just a matter of opinion...it''s a matter of experiencing great sound versus crappy sound. It''s difficult to put your trust in a complete strangers advice, I imagine it would be, but for once, trust this stranger and run with my advice. Peace out ya''ll! Ricky Similar Products Used: KLH is pretty crappy also, but at least they admit it. |

I recived the Polk RT2000's about 7 months ago, and I am fairly pleased with the performence of the speakers. I purchased them through Circuit City, when they just recived the Polk line. These speakers seem to have outstanding imaging, and clarity, but the midrange seems a little flat. I was disipointed with how loud the bass output was, it was low but not mixing with the other sounds quite right. I had a problem with one of the subs on my speakers, and when polk sent me a replacement part I was disapointed to see how small, and light the magnet on the driver was.(I was comparing that driver to my Paridigm PS1000 sub I have) I belive these speakers are good, but nothing I would be head over heals over. |

Strength:
Smooth Sound
Weakness:
Poor Mid Range 1) Sound quality: Will sound very good to casual listener. It sounded great to me when i first got it. But i realized the quality of the sound is different for different types of music. Pop music with strong beats sounded impressive. But when listening to vocals, the mid range just didn't have enough clarity and sounded muffled by the high's and lows. Adjusting the subs down appeared to help but then when listening to other types of music something was out of balance again. I am more of a music listener and don't care for the bug thundering vibrations of Home Theaters which bother the neighbors anyway. I also got over the fun of the strong bass. So i don't recommend having subwoofers built into the front right and left speakers. A separate sub driven by the separate Subwoofer channel for HT is my recommendation. Maybe too much tweeking required and i just don't have the patience. 2) Quality: One of the speakers had intermittent clicking sound probably from the sub-woofers turning on and off when input level is at certain threshold. Problem occured once a week. --- That was a show stopper so i returned them. Now I'm back with my 10 year old 2-way Advent Towers that are half the Polk's size and 1/4 the Polk's weight. But the sound is more natural. I've concluded 1) I don't want a built in sub in the main speakers (Heard some Paradigms non powered. They sound great.) 2) Don't get caught up in the fad of new technology. It may be fun but it won't last. Similar Products Used: Advent |

Strength:
Well built speaker, nice looking quality built.
Weakness:
None OK, Let's here it for Matt Polk, great speakers. I use them in my home theater system along with a cs-400 center and f/x 500's for the rear. I use a Sony STR-DA90ESG receiver to power them, awsome! What many people do not know is that the Polks are 6 ohm speakers, so I switched the receiver from 8 ohm's to 4 ohm's, sounds a little better. In normal stereo listening they sound great. Beautiful mid's, crisp highs and all the base you want. I actually bought the RT-3000's first and went back and bought the RT-2000's. I had all four of them in my Family Room at the same time. After switching from a to b on the receiver, and listening to both one at a time and both together I decided on the RT-2000's, and took the RT-3000's back.(Thank God for Circut city) Similar Products Used: Infinity sm-225 |

Strength:
home theater, price, bass tone
Weakness:
very large, little tinty, and only 80wts to 2 subs?? Heres the deal yo, I work at Circuit and I have also sold speakers at Incredible Universe, such brands as DCM Time Frames(great speaker) Nht,ect. My point on this is that with recent developments in Polks new speakers, wait for the new ones, unless you wanna grab some for an awesome deal right now. prob a G for both right now. Strength:
Tremendous detail in the bass, great high end
Weakness:
None, but need a lot of attention (placement, bass adjustment, toning down the tweeter) These are great speakers, though they are being replaced by Polk with a new line. If you get a chance to pick them up before they go out at a discounted price, jump on it. The dual 8" subwoofers are magnificent and produce detailed bass that can not be touched by any other speaker in this price range. The bass can also be adjusted courtesy of a knob on the speaker. The midrange is fantasic. The tweeter can be harsh but can be easily toned down (see the Hometheaterforum discussion on the Rt3000). The speakers are fantastic for home theater with thundering bass and are full range for music. For under $2000, they are the best speaker available (and I previously owned Paradigm's which are not even in its class). Similar Products Used: Listened to Energy, Paradigm, PSB, NHT, B&W |
