Strength:

Great sounding speaker system. Clean highs and mids and excellent bass response. Work very well on music as well as Home theater system. Can take tons of power without sacrificing quality.

Weakness:

For the price absolutly nothing!!!

along with the RT2000p's I am using the Polk CS400i center channel speaker system and the Polk FX500 for my surrounds and driving the works with a Marantz SR96 A/V Receiver. For the money I paid I have heard speakers that cost two to three times the price that do not come close to the overall sound quality of these Polks. Imaging is excellent and well defined. One can spend alot more and get little or no benifit other then a highend brand name.

Strength:

sounds great at low volume

Weakness:

haha ah..push it......

this is a sad tale for Polk products. I blew these speakers each different one for a total of 5 times in 15 months. I purchased these from Circuit City . NOT there fault.... Actually Circuit City waw great...they gave me credit and i applied it towards an Infintiy system.
Any one considering this speaker should DEFINITLY listen to an Infinity line..
The sound stage was very poor. with the Polk. the bass was very awefull. I can't recommend this product to any one.. the value wasnt even reasonable being if you like loud music you will have to take back this speaker every 2 months for repair.
If your even reading this review do yourself a favor. Go listen to the Infinity Line of IL speakers or DEF Tech's.... And dont waste your money on the big nose guy at Polk........

I've had the 2000's for about 8 months now. The speakers are fantastic for home theater and perform very well for casual audio listening.
The highs are crystal clear without being too bright and have excellant control.

The mids reproduce the human voice rather well although females voices are a bit more fluid than male voices. The reproduction of different instruments vary where brass instruments, percussion, piano/keyboard sound very good but string instruments come across as a bit dry. This is the only fault that I can find with the speaker to date, however I must say that it is minor and can only be detected if you are really listening for it.

The bass is superb and is as subtle or as powerful as the listener desires. In either extreme, the drivers are able to take the power and deliver a solid and clean sound. For home theater fanatics, the bass is not as deep as quality subwoofers with 12" drivers but they certainly come close. For this reason, the RT2000s my not be the ideal combo for the picky home theater buffs.

I must say that for the money, this speaker has been a joy to own and I'd buy them again if I had it to do over.

Weakness:

terrible speakers - sounded like AM radio

I was looking for a new tower speaker to replace my old little KEF C-75's, thinking newer technology would surely improve on the sound. I ended up bringing home NHT 2.9's, the Polk's, a set of PSB Silvers, and a pair of Boston Acoustic VR975's. All are similar in size, but not layout.

Equipment : Denon AVR 3300 AV receiver, Adcom 700 CD changer

I played each for a couple of days, and then switched to the next pair. I used rock and jazz CD's as the primary source (CD's sound like crap generally, but I figured it would apply across all speakers).

The KEF's were generally surpased by all speakers in midrange detail and soundstage, and definitely by bass.

I was surprised by the NHT's, they make some great speakers, smooth, very nice sound, especially on female jazz, and the response quite uniform. Soundstage was very good, vocals had depth and believeability.

The BA 975's are also excellent, but their side firing woofers didn't work out in my room that well. I couldn't hear bass unless I stepped to the back of the room and stood against the wall. These are superb speakers, great soundstage, probably very good bass in the right room.

The PSB's were excellent in all regards, good bass, great soundstage, smooth midrange, absolutely no fatigue to my ears, can listen all day. I now had the NHT's and this pair on the short list.

The Polks I listened to last. What a dissapointment. They were actually so irritating in the midrange that I simply could not listen more than an hour to them. The bass seemed ok, but the midrange fatigue factor was too high off the Richter scale for me. I called Polk, and Crutchfield, who to their credit offered advise, but nothing really helped. They sounded like a huge tower of harsh AM radio to me. I give these a 0, but it isn't available.

I was down to the NHT's and PSB's, and went with the PSB's due to their slightly better soundstage in my room than the NHT's. To anyone also considering the NHT or BA speakers, they are definitely worth a listen.

Strength:

Bass

Weakness:

Midrange, image, soundstage

I had these speakers for a few weeks and at first they sounded good, but after awhile I began to notice the inadequacy in them. The bass is clearly well reproduced but the midrange and even treble can be a bit harsh at times. But what drove me to return these speakers is the lack of soundstage and image which are very important to me because I listen to alot of classical music. Bought a pair of infinity Kappa 8.1(for few hundred less) and have been very happy with these speakers their bass is not as deep but is a lot more musical. Polk audio needs to focus more on the midranges and highs because these are the heart and souls of music not just deep bass.

Strength:

GREAT speaker for the $$, better than paradigm

Weakness:

NONE for me

these speakers now at $699 on sale at CC are a STEAL. I have had these for a few months and they rock with my Pioneer elite 29Tx reciever. The bASS is NOT muddy or boomy at all with my set. It appears that whoever said this was listening to a set that was not hooked up properly. The bass never gets boomy for me, even turned all the way up. Balanced with my Polk PSW650 sub, these things rock. I had my elite at -0 listebing to ZZtop and they were so loud and still so full and clean. the only other speaker I would want are the 3000's, but at $3000 for teh pair, these are the ones to get. 5 stars from me. If set up properly with a godd reciever these can't be beat at this proce. They sound like $1100 speakers, much better than infinity's overture 3's.

I have owned these speakers for over a
year now and couldn't be happier with
them (for the price anyway). They have
excellent bass, a solid mid, and a
decent tweeter. If these speakers
weren't quite as "bright," I would have
to say they would be just about perfect.
I had owned Def Techs 2002, but after
auditioning the Polks, I had to make the
switch!

Natural, Detail, Nice looking

Weakness:

Do not know yet.

Over last two months, I was looking for some speakers with buildin powered subwoofer from the BOOK only. So today, I decided to test drive them. I went to see my old buddy "Circuit City" and "Tweeter". At "Tweeter", I tested the Mirage OM6 and OM8, very wide sound stage and not much of a sweet spot (omnipolar). But I do not like it because the image of the placement of the instructments and the singer's voice are not clear to me at all. Then I went to CC to test drive the PolkAudio RT2000 and the other Infinity speakers. All Infinity speakers (including Overture 3) are very loud (high sensitivity) but the music and the base is so loud that I could not hear the singer's voice and the solo. It is too artifical to me. It may be good for home theater but not for someone who love to hear the voice of the singer and each individual instructment more than the loud bass and music. However, the saleman told me that the Overture3 does have not a low frequency input and cross over control for the internal subwoofer and it is not good for HT. For this much money, it makes me a little bit disappointed. I think Infinity likes you to buy their subwoofer if you want to connect your subwoofer output from your receiver to something. Do not buy the BU-120 model, they humm so much even when it is not in use !!!! But why would you want to buy another subwoofer when this Overture3 already has 300W (each) build in !! I could not figure this out yet unless you have too much money to burn or unless your listening room is large. These speakers are NOT bi-wirable !! If you pay retail price, you should look for something else.

Then I tested the Polk Audio RT2000, it is not as loud but all music is much more natural and real. The singer's voice and the weak solo could be hear very clearly and naturally !! Much better than Overture3.

It is very nice to test all speakers side by side. All speakers were driven by a Denon 5700 with mininum bass. Too bad, they do not have AR1 from Acoustic Research, Energy APS5+2 and the Polk Audio RT3000. I need to do more search before I can make my final choice.

By the way, the Overture3 costs $1299 and the RT2000 is only $899 each if you want to judge them by money.

I have had the RT2000s for about a month now. I must say I am very pleased with them. They have all the bass you can ask for in a speaker with subs built in. The highs and mid range are very smooth. The overall constuction of the speaker is well built. I have had a few brands of speakers such as JBL, Infinity, Bose and EVs but the sound from the RT 2000s can't be beat in the price range it's in. Some of my freinds were over to hear them and they went out and bought the RT 2000s the next day and gave up what they had. Good jobPolk folk.

these are PLAY IT LOUD speakers. lots of bass with the powered subs. they can be controlled and turned down for some types of music and CRANKED for HT. Compared to others listed above they finnished last however. the Monitors were very clean but lacked bass. the B&W's were by far the best.
not cheap at MRRP of 2000US but can be bougth for 1200.
