Polks remember. Really I like the dual 8" subs. I think they provide more musical responce

I am a fan of Polk. Couldn't believe my incredible luck on Ebay. These speakers fill my listening area with great music and bang for home theater. I have a poor listening area design, catheral ceilings, 3 door openings and two windows into the kitchen. A little work, well lots, with an SPL meter, and I have a very decent balance. They are pulled away from the walls, 1 1/2 ft, toed in a lot, but its working. I have the subs hooked up with the a/v receiver pre-out, y-split. I have 10 gage wire feeding into the upper units. I really have to say, it rocks. I also have the fx1000 surrounds, another fantastic speaker, I like the dipole setting. I don't quite get the center speaker with small subs. To what benefit, especailly if sitting on top of your big screen? I use two, yes two rt55i's for my centers. I also have these sitting on slight angles to each other. The spl meter helps in getting rid of the dead spots. [Remember my listening area with all the openings.] I think I have it now. You can sit anywhere and get the full benefit of 5.1 sound. BASS WILL SHAKE YOUR HOUSE APART AND PISS OF THE NEIGHBORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, Im writing an addendum for these speakers. I had the opportunity to play a few DTS DVDs and let me tell you incredible. It you shake your house in The Haunting, Apollo 13, Fast and Furious and US571. No AUDIBLE DISTORTION at 110 dB on the spl meter. The speakers start and stop apropriately with each bass beat as the artist intended. No one tone bass anymore for me. The speakers at little over half vol and rec at little over half volume yeilded sound that was liquid and clear, and transparent. I felt like I was in a club and I am the envy of all my friends......(not joking). I especiallly want to thank my new ebay friend, Dan, for hooking me up with these speakers at an incredibly low price with a warranty I might add... Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!

none as of yet except if the towers are not adj properly then the treble can easily be drowned out.

By far the best upgrade so far. the sound is incredible from these speakers. From top to bottom theses speakers produce music very realistically. The depth and accuracy of all the drivers is one word priceless. I dont plan to up grade any time soon. The only thing better would be the SRT system from years before but that is not in the budget. Im running low power to them (about 70watts) and the still sing quite well. The nice thing I have noticed about Polk speakers is they perform remarkably well with low power. I have and still own the RT1000i's and the 2000i's and each upgrade gets better and better.

Check 1,2, Check 1,2. Whether you are listening to Shania Twain, or raising the db's with Tower of Power, or putting all together with Santana, the RT3000p system will get you where you want to go. An excellent choice in speakers, they reproduce signal with accuracy. To me, it only makes sense to have a sub unit on each side, rather than a single central located sub. Take a listen to Santana, TOP, or any other good group and compare the 3000's against a system that employs only a single sub unit centrally located in a sound room. You will quickly hear the difference in sound realism with the 3000's vs. systems where you only have a central sub unit. Crisp clean signal delivery and depth of sound. My other choice in this comparison were the JBL S412P studio monitors. In reality, they were close in sound reproduction and very attractive in pricing for the pair, about half the price for a single Polk RT3000p. The Polk's are well worth the money at retail, even better if you can find a deal.

The 3000p consists of small speaker sitting on top of larger size power sub-woofer (as well as price list on Circuit City). I don't know this is a modular design or poor design? The 2000p looks much better than the 3000p. If the 3000p's speaker has the same width and depth of its sub-woofer, or just a single box, it will look much better. The Polk designer said that the 3000p has dual 8" woofers which is equivalent the bass out put of a single 12" woofer, combination of the speed and musicality of small drivers. Although,I prefer the sound quality from single 12" than the dual 8" (It is true for applying to picture on TV - A big screen is still seen better than combination of several small TVs). If you like the Polk's sound, the 2000p is recommended, unless you like more power and willing to spend money.

I have salivated over these speakers in the store for over a year. I had the RT2000p s since last year. They have been great speakers, and were at a great price. I went in to the store to pick up a replacement tape deck. As usual I asked when would they EVER put the 3000s on sale. The guy said, well, they just got marked down. I made him walk me to the speakers to be sure! Needless to say, I bought them on the spot and had the ability to trade in my current 2000p units. Just as in the store, the difference is amazing. Understand, that the 2000 are certainly no slouches, but the difference in depth, breadth, and richness of sound is amazing. Once I got these home, it felt almost like I had a new system. I'm running a Marantz SR8000 main unit with two subs, a Velodyne 12 and a Paradigm Servo 15. Most people might not even get a sub with the 3000s as they are so full. I Wouldn't have bought 2 subs if I had these at first for sure! I have found that I've had to make several adjustments such as turning my subs down and only using the 3000s at half power. At the same volume level of the Marantz with a sound meter, the sound is 5-8 db louder just due to the 3000s!! These speakers aare rich and full and accurate. Jazz music CDs are rich full and detailed. If you can find these at a deal, buy them! If you don't and have $$ to burn, Buy them! I'm love them and are now set.

I just have to decide what to do with an unneeded 12" Velodyne sub now! Ha!

RT 2000p

Powerful, tangible, liquid bass with huge extension and power. Correctly proportioned midrange without being forward. The bass can be overpowering but the front controls are very handy. I couldn't go back to a passive speaker again. I only use them in 2 channel for music. The impact on well recorded material is astounding at times. I absolutely love them

Slight emphasis on treble in the context of the whole frequency range. The styling whilst very attractive in Rosewood is still a bit odd with the top speakers sitting on the bass units via Sorbethane pads. They sound better with the grilles off. I had a problem with hum when I first got them but the local agent fixed the hum with a Polk mod. Expensive if you pay retail. They are a shade "dark" in terms of frequency balance.

Excellent and I cannot se myself changing from these speakers for years to come. Incredibly enjoyable to listen to which is the real litmus test over the long haul.

Polk has been favorite of mine for quite some time now. Since they released the RT3000p, I've been in love with them. The 3000p is almost the same as the 2000p but is a bit more on the lavish/refined side. The 3000p has 120 more watts of power to the subs. Also on the subs, there are 4 8" drivers: 2 front firing and 2 inside of the speaker enclosure. The calarity is a bit more refined and the high end has been extended and more crisp. Accomponied by the extra wattage and the crisper highs are mylar material midrange drivers, which give off a cleaner look. Im not naming any prices because I got mine for a bargain! If there were a 10th star available on this site, I would post 20!

Really heavy!

This system is by far the best sounding system for under 5000.00. The 5000p package is absolutely amazing. The person who rated these speakers doesn't know what he is missing. These speakers are far, far superior to the 2000p speakers.
