An excellent speaker. Bought it for $1300cdn ($940 US). I'dhighly recommend it. The best one I've heard in the price
range.

Comments:
Excellent imaging and clarity. Excellent clear low end. Lots
of power and it doesn't distort even at loud volumes. Sounds
great when quiet or loud. Music comes nicely 'out' of the speakers.
Great listening experience.

Things to watch for:
Seem to have a bit of a "hollow" sound in the low mids.
Especially heard on acoustic guitar. Not
a problem, but something to listen for. Low end is huge, so
you have to have a good room. Can get "boomy" and is less
forgiving if the speakers are positioned badly. High end
has a bit of a 'sheen' around 10k. Not bad, but listen for
it. They are totally different then the Stratus Gold. The
two speaker models sound completely different.

In the price range I heard nothing come even close!
Highly recommended.

I just purchased a pair of PSB Stratus Silvers with the C6 Stratus center channel!! I love them. I'm running them through the Parasound 1206 six channel amp. The sound is rich and with excellent tonal quality. Some problems with phleghm from the drivers. Occasionally a rattling sound eminates from the C6 with high volume. The cabinets of the Silvers are separating from the drivers, within their own realm. More often than not, I'll be watching a movie on DVD, with sounds eminating from these lovely speakers. Keep plugging away!!!!
Don't forget, the price of these speakers don't warrant arrest!!!

Strength:

Clarity.

Weakness:

Have to upgrade my center and rears to compliment the Silvers.

These speakers are amazing. I literally had to relisten to my collection of CDs so I could hear what I had been missing all along. I upgraded from PSB Century 500i to the Silveri. The imaging is incredible. I was amazed at the bass response in the 2.5 way configuration.

I purchased the silver after having the bronze, silver and gold in my home for a few days. I feel my review is accurate for my enviorment. My room is 18x25,speakers firing down long wall toward rear wall which is half brick. All speakers 8 feet apart with no toe in. I have already posted review on bronze
which i was pleased with considering cables, speakers and interconnects were new,
with no burn in. The gold had to be 9 feet out from rear wall for it to perform properly.Since this review is for the silver here goes. When i unpacked the silver and placed in position i realized that the silver is considerably larger than the bronze, the gold is just plain big. Back to the silver, i already knew i had something special, i just did not know how special. Now that the silvers and all cables were burned in, time for some serious listening. Unlike the bronze and gold the mid bass slam is the best i have ever heard. highs are a pure joy to listen to, midrange is about as neutral as you can get, although on a few cuts i noticed a somewhat dry characther to the mids. Overall bass response is deep, detailed, extremely dynamic and very very tight. Over the years i have owned apprx. 15 different systems, many costing much more than the silvers and assoc. equip., however none have given me the pure musical satisfaction that the silvers deliver,in spades. On ANGEL by Sarah Mc.my wife commented after the song was over[YOU JUST FLOAT] On The hunter by Jeniffer Warnes, rock you gently and somewhere somebody literally lit up my room. A large part of the sound quality is due to the interconnects and speaker cable i am using with the silvers.[USED TO BE A NON BELIVER IN CABLE DIFFERENCES] IMO all three speakers are very good with the silver being the best by a mile in my home, if i had an extra 15 feet of room length i probably would have gone gold. They just did not work in my room. Yes my system is HT based, but now it is 90-10 for two channel stereo. just wanted to let the bronze owners know that the pair i had was defective. although i did get a couple hours of listening before they went south. Thanks to all of you for your help and honest reviews.

BEG BORROW OR STEAL A PAIR AND SEE FOR YOURSELF.THEY REQUIRE LONGGGGGGGGGGG BURN IN AND IF YOU PUT THEM IN BACKWARDS WILL SOUND LIKE A BAD DREAM, COME TO THINK ABOUT IT THEY SOUND PRETTY BAD PLACED THE PROPER WAY UNTIL THE DAY THE BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLY EMERGES. I AM USING .5M ALL AROUND IF YOU NEED TO DO A LITTLE ROUTING OF THE CABLES GO WITH THE 1M AS THEY ARE UNGODLY STIFF. THEY HAVE WBT TYPE LOCKING RCAs, VERY IMPORTANT FOR AMP TO PRE.USE

Must be biwired!

To the guy below who only gave 2 stars to the Silvers. Unless you biwire your Silvers with a good wire like Nordost Flatlines, the Silvers can sound as though there is a blanket thrown over them. Biwire the speakers and you will understand why the Silvers have received such rave reviews!

These are clearly speakers that warrant far more than their asking price on every front including looks. The sound is beautifully balanced, clear and effortless, particularly in the bass regions.
I had to audition these at home with my own system not just because it's a good idea if possible, but because I literally didn't believe what I heard in the store and thought there was some sort of trickery going on. Nope. These are some fine speakers.

Another point of interest: They are quite forgiving with respect to placement.

When a product I’ve heard and know to be good is trashed in the extreme, I have to believe that some other agenda is going on. In fact, an earlier comment indicates that Tony C has dropped off his trash here before. Having recently auditioned the Silvers (a very good speaker) along with some other speakers in their price range, I can attest that they hold their own very easily in that range. The Stratus Silvers have a clear sense of presence, an open airy sound, and excellent imaging. If you are considering the B&W CDM7SE’s (also a very good speaker), give the Silvers a listen also. Are they better or worse? Decide for yourself, but liking one won’t make the other bad. Come on - the Silvers being the WORST speakers in that range? Only with too many Philly cheese steaks stuffed between the ears.

I purchased these speakers about a year ago, after listening to over a dozen speakers in the $1,000 to $2,000. range. At the time, these stood out as being the least "veiled", especially in the midrange. Since then, they have conveyed every improvement in source I have offered them. My Arcam Alpha One CD player was furst improved by adding a Music Fidelity X-ACT DAC. The sound stage improved in localization and depth, the detail improved. I added Van den Hul DM 102 interconnects. More detail and richness. I added the MSB Link DAC. Still more detail, mellowness, and impressive soundstage and inner detail in large symphonic works. Grado Platinum on a Systemdek IIX: Wonderful richness and dimension, especially on acoustic and (yes) wooden instruments. Bryston B60 amp? Takes full advantage of that musical midrange. What's next? I'm using a fairly incexpensive Prisma speaker cable (biwired, which could be improved. Would like to try added a Bryston 3B-ST to bi-amp the bottom. But no rush. These things sound great, natural, and will dutiful pass on whatever you put into them. (Oh, yeah, I claim "Audiophile status" I'm not a "Casual Listener" "Enthusiast"
sounds like a techno-geek, so what's left?)

QUITE POSSIBLY THE WORST SPEAKER IN THIS PRICE RANGE I HAVE EVER AUDITIONED. WEAK HIGHS, SHALLOW MIDS, AND ABSENT LOWS. THESE SPEAKERS HAD NOTHING TO OFFER EVEN THE CASUAL LISTENER. PROBABLY ON A LEVEL WITH THE BOSE 601s. THEY PRESENT NO SOUNDSTAGE, IMMAGE, OR DEPTH. I TRIED TO POSITION THEM DIFFERENTLY, I MOVED MY SEAT, I TILTED THEM BACK, ALL TO NO AVAIL. THESE THINGS CAN'T HOLD A CANDLE TO MY B&W P5s. FOR $1600.00 YOU CAN GET SO MUCK BETTER THAN THIS ITS INCREDIBLE. TRY THE SMALL THIELS, B&W CDM7SE, HALES REV 3s, OR GO USED. I CAN'T GIVE THEM A ZERO SO I SETTLE FOR 1 STAR.

Strength:

Sound! A speaker that is never fatiguing.

Weakness:

Bass could be a little better, depends on placement.

I have had these for over a year now, the original Silvers, and still enjoy them greatly. I recently added a VPI 19-MkIII w/Souther linear tonearm and AudioQuest 7000 cartridge to my system and the sounds are excellent. My main gear consists of vintage Tandberg pre-amp (3038A), amp (3036), tuner (3001A) and the excellent TDC440A cassette deck, which still records amazing tapes! The Silvers and Tandberg electronics make a good match (Tandberg sounds good through plastic cups and string).

Finding a good used set of the original Silvers is most recommended, they sound great. My only slight complaint is in the upper bass, sometimes instruments (bass, electric bass) in that freq range seem a bit muddy, perhaps further improvements in the source equipment will cure that.
