Strength:

Great sound reproduction. Good styling.

Weakness:

None

I bought this used pair (5 yrs old) for less than $1000.
I am happy to say I am very pleased with the performance.
I have placed them in my small living room an it goes
perfectly well both asthetically and functionally.
I am taken aback by the stunning looks of the speakers.
I often take the front grill off to expose the drivers,
and it looks awesome. I do not like the wood finish of
my speakers. I would rather prefer the black glossy finish.

I use Harmon Kardon AVR85 receiver to drive the stratus.
They both form an excellent combination. With the HK
delivering high power to the speaker, the speakers make
the utmost utilization of the power delivering rich bass
and crystal clear highs and mid-range. I have placed the
stratus' 6 ft apart and facing straight rather than
slightly inwards, and they give excellent stereo imaging.
I use this mostly for stereo listening than 5.1 channel.

Speakers of this quality would normally cost a lot more.
Great buy for a modest price. GET IT !!

Strength:

Strong mid-range and top end

Weakness:

Could use a little more bass

I bought these speakers about 18 months ago to replace a pair of aging Altec Lansing speakers that I bought in the late 1970's. As a baby boomer I grew up listening to rock that required a strong bass response from my speakers. Although the Silver's don't give me the same bass response as my old Altec Lansing speakers, they do have several admirable qualities. They feature an excellent high end, well rounded middle and do particularly well with the human voice. Overall I am very pleased with the speakers for their cost to value equation, good sound staging, and ample sweet spot. The fit and finish is very good, but the design of the speaker box is very plain. This speaker is very good value in the $1,200 to $2,000 price range.

I purchased a pair of Silvers about 3 months ago and I love them. Overall the speakers sound excellent. I find that the bigger the room the better they sound. Very clear and accurate sound, no coloring. I paid $1300 U.S.

Unless you have a very large room, the Stratus Silver is probably the best speaker PSB makes. Because its front baffle is only slighty wider than its drivers, and the front edges of the cabinet are curved, the speaker images perfectly. The Silver is also one of the most neutral loudspeakers I've heard. It simply reproduces what you feed into it. For its modest size, the Silver has astonishing dynamic range. The speaker can play very loudly and maintain its composure. Because it has very robust drivers with 2 inch voice coils those dynamic capacities also extend into the midrange, which gives music a believabilty that's missing in speakers with less robust midrange drivers.

I own a pair of Straus Golds also. They are one of the best buys in the world. But they are for large rooms--more than 2,500 cubic feet. They are also very large speakers. The Silvers are smaller and much more elegant.
