I have owned these for a year now and have used them with five different amps (CJ MV-55, CJ Sonographe SA-250, Rotel RB-980, Creek 4330R, and a VTL ST-85). Although they are cheap, I've found them to get better as you raise the level of the equipment. Moreover, I think they sound better with tubes than solid state; the VTL is a very good match. They also need a decent amount of power to open up and perform to their capabilities; the CJ and Creek were nice up to a point, but ran out of steam. They are, simply put, wonderful speakers and any adverse reviews about them, including the Sensible Sound's criticism of them, seem out of place to me. I have not been able to replicate their problems with them using the same recordings. Of course, in that review, I believe the reviewer used a cheap NAD integrated. What do you expect. Again, although these are cheap, they demand good ancillary components to perform like HP and the rest predict. |

Excellent speaker, very neutral, very smooth and defined highs and midrange, firm bass. They very accurately portray the music that is pumped into them. Not especially pretty, but at this price, close your eyes and enjoy the music. Still available from Audio Advisor as of their late Fall '97 catalog. |

These speakers have to rate as the best buy in bookshelf speakers. They provide precise imaging, a wide and deep soundstage, and frequency balance that is unmatched for under $1000 a pair. They claim bass response down to 34 hz, and it is totally believable. They dissapppear sonically, letting you hear the music and not the speakers. They are also very efficient, a good quality 25 wpc amp will drive them to levels that will scare your neighbors. Add a Rega Planet CD player or a Vpi HW 19 Jr and you will have a system that rivals many costing 2 or 3 times as much. As mentioned in previous reviews, they won't impress anyone with their looks, but they aren't ugly either, just plain. Get some. |

I'm very happy with my 300ti's. Imaging, clarity, efficiency, and overall value are great. I'm a drummer and really love hearing minute details in drum sounds and can really hear the details and subtleties with these speakers. |

Strength:
authority,
Weakness:
much less than last review this is a revise review I was some what unfair after reviewing the 300ti I did some major tinkering to my system cartidge a AQ mc cartridge placement of tt sota comet and isolating my tube preamp cj10a and cary 70slb amp . Well many things cleared up on a mercury recording of rogers recording of tales of pinocchio the piano was right up front and a much larger soundtage and a great sense of midbase weight. On the vivaldi hungaratron recording of the guitar concertos the guitar had a wonderful sense of body and strings had a lovely air. tones were sweet and I have to say airy . On a rca living stereo :for people who hate opera: a hard one to find caeser vallites voice was wonderful and I could sense him holding a guitar and hearing the strings vibrate . The only so call weakness I hear is I still have some problems making them disappear. Maybe more room placement or I think it might be room acoustics. All in all a much better speaker than I thought.
