Strength:

Open, Transparent, Very smooth.
Surprisingly nicely finished for price.

Weakness:

Binding posts not very secure (turn inside if tightened very much)

As a $500 speaker, almost flawless. They are extremely neutral, never harsh, they are delicate, open, airy, transparent. Vocals very uncolored, never nasal or forward. The black vinyl cabinet & reddish wood curved front baffle along with the elegant grille attachment make them look way more expensive than they are. Highly recommended!

As a giant killer-I don't think so. It seems that some audiophile magazine reviewers get carried away with this, describing them as the equal of $2000-$3000 pair speakers- ridiculous! Compared to the Sonus Faber Concertino ($1000) and B&W CDM1SE ($1200), they do not have comparible soundstage depth, bass response, and most noticeably do not resolve the timbre and texture of instruments as well.

So, if you have $500 to spend, you can't go wrong, but if you have $1000 or more, there are plenty of reasons to look elsewhere. (In fairness, I haven't heard the more expensive Triangles.)

Strength:

Very airy, huge soundstage, beautiful midrange, smooth treble, incredible amounts of detail at low volumes, MUSICAL

Weakness:

Bass is on the weak side (duh, it's a bookshelf), highs could be a bit more detailed and crisper

After getting an enormous list of bookshelf recommendations ranging from total budget to no-holds-barred, I decided to give the Titus a try, primarily because it was noted it could play exceptionally well at low levels, a primary consideration for me. I had considered getting the B&W Nautilus 805s, but figured it probably wasn't such a smart idea to spend so much at first since this was my first forray into the speaker world. Previously I was and still am a headphone fanatic, and own the $4000 Sony MDR-R10 King headphones, along with numerous other offerings from Grado, Sennheiser, etc.

I bought the Tituses used, so they're well broken in. The first thing I did was plug them into the el cheapo amp that was contained within my PC speaker's subwoofer, and ran 12 gauge generic cables to see what the Titus was capable of off the bat. I could not believe the soundstage and airiness that I heard immediately.

That was then...and now I've got the full rig going with a Rotel 972 integrated along with Tara Labs RSC Prime 1000 cables. The sound is simply incredible for the $380 I paid. The highs were detailed yet exceptionally smooth, although my preference leans to a crisper treble so a bit more there wouldn't hurt. The midrange was magical, warm and lush, with a full sound. The bass was tight and fast, and still quite feelable, although a sub would definitely help out. I wouldn't quite say a must since for musical purposes I think the Titus puts out quite a nice amount of bass already...I certainly wouldn't miss a sub if I had to live without it, but I'm still considering the Triangle Zapping sub to go with the Tituses. Tonally I would characterize the overall sound as warm...but the Rotel amp supposedly has a warm character. The soundstage though is the primary strength of the Titus...it is just HUGE and incredibly airy. I haven't heard many speakers, but I'm guessing the Titus is putting out a soundstage a speaker in its price range shouldn't be capable of doing! I followed up by building 30" stands for the Tituses, and the imaging improved dramatically. Things became more focused and "fell into place" more easily, especially the bass. It lives up to the promise of excellent detailing at low volume levels, especially important since I live in an apartment with roomates who could care less for my music tastes.

The Tituses are very sensitive at 4 ohms, 90db, so they'd be right at home with even low powered amps, or tube amps. The Rotel 972 puts out 60 watts max, and I usually can't get very far from the starting point of the knob before it gets too loud! They are biwirable with four heavy solid binding posts, which is the configuration I have them in right now.

Given the mess of bookshelfs I had the option of choosing from, I probably would have came out with a winner with any speaker I might've chosen being it was also my first forray into audiophile bookshelfs, and I was coming off of PC speakers. But I'm particularly happy with the Tituses...it was a shot in the dark, totally unheard, and they turned out to be absolutely fabulous. They look absolutely gorgeous too! Very highly recommended for the price!

Strength:

Incredible detail, pin-point imaging, very good with female vocals

Weakness:

Not much bass, but we all knew that

I picked up the Titus used for $385 based on their good reviews. For such a low price I could always use them for a second office system. Well, they sound so good they are my mains in my music/HT system. Daily I'm amazed at the detail, even at low levels. Even setup with an entertainment center between the speakers the imaging and soundstage is incredible.... reguardless of the price!
The base rolls off quickly at ~60Hz in my room but blending with my HSU TN1225 sub is not a problem.
Even though I bought mine used they had very little playing time on them. The sound smooths out with an increase in overall balance after about two weeks. I would be careful with bright equipment though since the detail can become a bit bright. I'm currently driving them with an Outlaw 1050 receiver and the combination works very well.

Strength:

Imaging. Detail

Weakness:

Bass. I don't know if I am too fond of these speakers with classical music, but this could be a short coming in my system, and I definitely need to move the speakers to a better location.

I drove 200 miles away to audition these speakers after reading a review by Stereophile in which the reviewer salivated over them. This proved to be one of my favorite trips ever. I knew after listening to them that I had to own them. I also knew I was determined to replicate the dealers exact sound even if I had to buy the exact equipment they used! The sound to my ears was jaw droppingly stunning. Every style of music the dealer played for me was beautiful because of the quality of the sound that came out of the speakers. So I purchased a pair 2 weeks later. These speakers sound ok out of the box but ABSOLUTELY need to be played for 200-300 hours to burn them in. It seems they sound better every day I play them. I break them in by playing them while I am at work and swear they sound better every time I come home after the days break in. I am truly amazed at how these speakers allow subtle, delicate sounds come out in a recording. I am constantly hearing things I have never heard before. The imaging is spectacular and the bass sounds very tight and detailed, although I wish there was more of it. I have my speakers placed very poorly in my listening room and I am sure when I relocate them the bass and overall sound will improve markedly. Even though for the most part I liked my NHT Super Two speakers these "cheapies" are remarkably better sounding.

Strength:

Detailed. They sound as though you are listening to a live performance.

Weakness:

Bass. You need a sub.

Bought these speakers after reading review in Stereophile. I special ordered them because I wanted the Metallic Carbon color to match my Sony. Before they were broken in they seemed bright. Now the detail and sound stage are nothing short of amazing. These speakers represent one the best bargains in audio.

live you are there sound, very detailed,

Weakness:

base {need subwoofer}

I got these speakers after reading Sam's space in stereophile. At 400$ over the internet I couldn't go wrong. These speakers floored my wife and I,they sound so clear and live. A sub is a must for full range sound. My system consist of a cj pre amp and audio eletronics 811 SET mono blocks. These speakers draw you into the music, and they are so cheap you would think they would cost so much more. They are not for everyone, they reveal every weakness in your system. I don't know how they sound with solid state amps, or home theater amps, try before you buy. I give these speakers 5 stars for sound and built quality.

Strength:

Really clear and realistic sound, sensitivity is pretty good
and doesn't need much power.(of course high power is better)

Weakness:

The tweeter need some time to run in.

Before I bought this speaker, I wanted to buy the Mission 771e, then I went to the shop to test 771e again. When I was there the sales man show me this Triangle TITUS xs just arrive, it look not nice but after I heard the sound from this puppy, sorry 771e, I think I make a right choice for TITUS xs.
This speaker is superb, detail, clarity, smoothness, imaging, dynamics and the soundstage much better than 771e, it's amazing.
For my country this speaker is price RM2000 - RM2300 is quite expensive.
Please don't believe me, try you self, never try never know.
