Strength:

Excellent all around, great true, accurate bass, mid range and highs also flawless. Best speaker available for $200.00 a piece.

Weakness:

Cant think of any.

I have had these speakers a few days now, and I think that with the other speakers in my living room system they are GREAT! I use these as my front main speakers. My rear mains are NS-A1738''s, with NS-6390''s for surround sound and a NS-AC40X center. I had some NS-A100XT''s as my main front speakers and upgraded to these. I am glad I did. The bass response is much deeper and crisp. With the combination I have, I have no need for a sub woofer. I run it through a Yamaha HTR-5460 receiver.

Strength:

2 bass drives deliver clear, clean bass. Upper frequencies are clear as a bell. They can get VERY loud and not distort a bit. Their widethrow design really evenly saturates the room with sound. They also look very nice.

Weakness:

The bass, while clean, does not have much kick to it. I highly recommend buying a subwoofer for the low frequencies, unless you don''t plan on turning the volume up very loud. Also the stands are really cheap and make the speaker look like it''s standing crooked.

I got an incredible deal on a pair of these speakers because I knew someone who worked at Best Buy. They normally sell for around $200 each, which is still a great deal. I shopped around for a long time, trying to find the perfect pair of speakers that delivered excellent quality while not emptying my wallet (I''m a college student). I use them with my Yamaha receiver and subwoofer. These speakers are by far the best value for the price range and I would highly recommend them to anybody that is assembling their own system or upgrading from old speaks.

Strength:

Clear highs and lows,no break-up at high volumes

Weakness:

The feet...So I don''t use them. TIP(if you have carpeting as I do,put 4 wood screws in the pre-drilled holes. This will act the same as spikes and improve the sound)

Wow,these speakers sound much better than they should for the price. After reading complaints with the 100xt-- woofer and midrange sharing the same inclosure therefore interfering with eachother,I went with the 200xt because this models woofers have their own seperate inclosure from the midrange speakers, something the 100xt should of had.

Strength:

The great high-end clarity and super low bass response (35hz!). The volume attainable without distortion.

Weakness:

I would have preferred an acoustic suspension speaker instead of bass reflex.

Having done EXTENSIVE searching for speakers that sound just as well playing music or movies, I was blown away by these speakers. Originally I saw their smaller cousin, the 100xt''s and loved them, but after listening to them both I couldn''t help myself from spending the extra fifty bucks for the extra bass. At a low end of 35hz, I am having a hard time finding a moderately priced sub that will compliment them. Additionally, the high end is so clear, it blows me away. I haven''t seen anything that even comes close for the price, which as a college student, is very important.

Strength:

nice design, small footprint, great price, great reproduction of sound. Most speakers in this size overemphasize bass while having week mids and highs, not the case for these yamahas. absolutely the best buy for the money.

Weakness:

none that I can think of.

I have had these speakers for almost three months and I just love them. Rich sound at a great price. I do not think thre is a better bargain out there. In addition, they come with 2 year warranty which is the second best. JBLs come with 5 years but everything else comes with just one year. I love these speakers. They do not distort at very high levels. Great for frat house.

The last upgrade in my System was to replace my Yamaha NS A100XT''s in the Front with their bigger brother the 200''s and move the 100''s to the rear. For the Price these speakers rock. Of and for the Guy that recommended the Cerwin Vegas over the Yamahas listen to something besides Snopp Dogg, and hear the Difference in the Highs and Mids. I work at Best Buy and listened to these every speaker there for a Long Time The high in those Vegas are very muddled it sounds like the Speakers are under Water and the tweeter will pop at high Level. Play Mariah Carey and see what you think. Overall speaker I think reproduce Highs and Mids with great Accuracies. They do an okay job with lows but that why you need a Good Sub. I have a 12" Polk Audio sub that sounds awesome with these Speakers. I would recommend these speakers and set to any looking for Premium sound but on a budget. My system is Onkyo 575X, Yamaha NS A200XT''s in the Front, Yamaha NS A100XT''s in the Rear, And matching ACx-40 Yamaha Center, Polk Audio 12’ Sub. All the Yamaha Speakers have the exact same Tweeter to with makes them blend nice. Oh and the "Tinny" sound usually goes a way after the first month. Those tweeters and Speakers have to be broken in.

Strength:

* Clear highs, rich mids that aren''t nasally, tight lows * Very loud, keep their clarity at high volumes * inexpensive * good looking * good with all media (music, movies, TV, etc...) * clarity and fidelity unmatched in this price range * small footprint * high end cable inserts. compatable with banana plugs.

Weakness:

for the price, there really aren''t any weaknesses. The stands are ugly and cheap, but I don''t use them.

First, I would like to say that the guy who stated these speakers are 7" is wrong. He didn''t measure right. They are 8". I measured them also, and they are clearly 8" speakers. I have had these speakers about a year and a half, and they are wonderful. For the price, there is no competition. The Cerwin Vega LS-12 speakers do pack more bass, but they are much muddier in the top end, and lack midrange clarity as well. These speakers represent the full frequency range very well, and they drop as low as 35Hz. It is very very hard to overload them, and they handle a lot of power (220 watts max). They don''t punch bass out like a sub, but that is why you purchase a sub. These speakers do exactly what a good main speaker should do. They sound very rich, with crystalline highs, and an airy quality. They fill a room very well. They are extremely responsive to subtle background sounds in movies. I love them - I have not heard anything better under $1000.

Strength:

Good overall

Weakness:

Not heart pounding bass on movies for crashes, explosions, etc........

Well I am back again. I would like to say that these speakers do sound great! I just made them my rear surround speakers though. Reason being because I went and purchased some Cerwin Vegas LS-12 series. Wow, now those speakers kick some ass! Deep hard hitting clean bass with great clarity and beautiful sound. Heres the kicker, I got these at Best Buy as well and paid the exact same price as the Yamahahs. I reccomend before you pick up the Yamahahs, check out the LS-12''s you will not be dissapointed! But the Yamahahs are great for rear surrond!

Strength:

Good Sound. Clean low and mid end.

Weakness:

Not real strong on high's. Bach and Strauss sound tinny.

Although I am in no way an expert. I think these are the best floor speakers you can get for around $400. new. I have the matching Center and rear surrounds and they compliment each other well. Coming through my Onkyo Tx-DS696 the and DV-C501, the CD's sound great in 5 channel stereo and my movies are equally as nice in 5.1 DD. This is, however, probably more due to the CD/DVD and Receiver than the speakers. All said, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Strength:

Pristine Sound from a low (less than $400) priced speaker.

Weakness:

Base stabilisers on speakers detract from the quality of the speaker, cosmetic only.

After a long day of A/B testing at various stores, I decided on the Yamaha NS-A200XT. I auditioned Polk, Infinity, JBL, Cerwin Vega and DCM speakers. I used 'Phantom of the Opera' as sung by Sarah Brightman to test each speaker. The polks just could not hold together at extreme volumes, the other speakers were all very close in performance. But I settled on the Yamaha due to my $400.00 budget and to my ears, they did sound the best across the board. Quiet to extreme, these were the best performers in their price range.
