Remo obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. His grammar isn't even correct. About over rated speakers I think BOSE is the most highly over rated sh** on the planet. Most people here know that much better stuff can be had for the money, or even considerably less money. The only reason BOSE is somewhat popular is that all their money goes to their advertising and marketing strategy. People get brainwashed with the constant flow of radio station, magazine, and TV ads. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure BOSE stuff is even made, but not designed, in Mexico! I don't have anything against that except that BOSE could provide those jobs to Americans- like companies, Boston Acoustics, NHT, Cambridge Soundworks, etc, etc do. Did you ever notice that when you go into a GOOD A/V store they don't/won't carry BOSE? The reason, according to the A/V place here in town, is that in such hi-end stores there is too much competition (can make BOSE look bad/embarrass them). Go to Circuit City or Best Buy and they don't have anything that can compete with the sound and size of BOSE. People get soo impressed soo easily with the tiny cubes because they haven't auditioned better, like the Take 5, Boston Micros, and Paradigm mini systems. Either that, or they like spending lots of money to help BOSE's advertising campaign and living with stupid, vinyl covered, not even 1/2 inch thick MDF cabinets sporting their paper (not high quality metal or silk dome) tweeters. It's pure ignorance and lack of research on the behalf of those who buy BOSE. Sorry for the sort-of nonreview, but I think everything good I'd say about the Take 5 has already been said. |

Just got the Take5 package (4 Sats, 1 Center) fron the Audioshop in Canada. I paid about $280 USD for factory seconds, which are almost perfect. Marc is a pleasure to deal with. I hooked them up to a Technics SA-DX930 Dolby Digital receiver and currently am using a Yamaha SW-2 50 watt Powered Subwoofer. They are set up in a 14' x 14' room adjoining my kitchen. They have a gigantic soundstage, good imaging and great off-axis response. To me, the sound rivals systems that cost 3 times more and look pretty ugly. The take5's on the other hand, blend into any room very nicely. Great sound with a high wife acceptance factor....how can you go wrong. |

I have had the Take 5 + the eXL-8 sub for around 1 week and have been very impressed by it. I have a dedicated HT system sperate from my Audio system. Have connected the Take5 and eXL-8 sub to my Pioneer Elite VSX-26th receiver and Toshiba 2109 DVD player. The sound is incredible when watching movies and gives me the experience as being in a real theater. In prologic mode the bass is slightly weak but overall it is fantastic.Well for music I have have listen briefly but just cannot be compared to my Musisc system which consist of Theil speakers, Bryston amp and Sonic Frontier tue preamp. |

Excellent speakers for the money. For those with small to mid sized rooms, the Take 5 package really can't be beat. I've got mine coupled with the optional 10 inch 100w subwoofer from Energy. This package works well for those with space limitations, and sounds great as an overall music/home theatre system. You can find better speakers out there, but dollar for dollar, it's an excellent buy. |

SOUND, SOUND, SOUND
Weakness:
somewhat weak midrange, but it is hardly a problem These are great speakers. The sound, especially for home theater purposes, in un-fricken-real. The subwoofer, when hooked up with monster cables, almost shook my house off of its foundation until I adjusted it accordingly. I highly, highly recommend these speakers. Strength:
Outstanding ht and music performance, small, good build quality. The only small speaker system I've heard that does justice to music, haven't heard the encores.
Weakness:
Slight audible hole in the mid-bass region, small, better suited for smaller rooms, center channel has a bit more coloration compared to the mains I saw these online for cheap and recommended them to a friend. Because his wife also purchased a Marantz SR5000 as a Christmas gift, the set-up ended up at my place for a few days, so I checked them out. I have the Klipsch quintet system in the bedroom and am sorry that I chose it over the Take 5+1 system as a bedroom system. The Klipsch system only bests the Energy in regards to the overall output, the quintets can play extremely loud. The Energy speakers are much more musical and surpassed my expectations. The subwoofer also performed well with tight punchy bass on music and good LFE on movie soundtracks, though it can't play loud at extremely low octaves. EVERYTHING, the sound is great, music is EXCELLENT
Weakness:
none right now these are the TRUE speakers! the music is so great. I dont know why everyone else is saying they are a little weak on music? im not a super audio freak, but i think i know enough to be able to tell GOOD sound from bad. and these Speakers are way better than good they are SURREAL! it feels as if the singer was actually singing LIVE, right in front of you. I have heard some bose systems, and they are quite impressive, but cost a lot of $$. One more thing i have found to make these speakers sound even better is to setup properly. Once you put them in the right places, you are fighting the war on D-DAY from saving private ryan and when you put in music, you are singing with Celine Dion or whoever you listen to.
