Strength:

Quality and Power of the sound will BLOW YOU AWAY! Sound, size, and quality.

Weakness:

No brackets...I had to buy speaker stands (extra $200) so as not to drill into the walls. I can't go to the movies anymore without feeling cheated!!!

This site was extremely helpful in my decision to buy the Polk RM6600. I listened to just about every satillite/bookself size speakers offered today in a controlled environment with the same A/V receiver, cds, movies. Every review I've read about these speakers was no less than a 4 star and all the magaizes were "astonished" or "amazed" at their sound. Components: Onkyo A/V receiver TXSR600, Sony61" HS30, Sony DVP S560D, Polk RM6600 w/ PSW350. After 3 months of testing the various systems, the Polk Audio RM6600 were by far the best for a number of reasons... 1. Quality Sound. Out-performed Infinity HS10-20, High end Boston Acoustics, Velodyne, Bose, and Mirage. Polks had a "TRUE Sound", more acoustically correct than the others, and possessed a deep and rich sound. 2. Size. In this case the lack thereof. The satillites fit (literally) in the palm of my hand but are quite heavy. I was amazed that sound this good could come from such small speakers. The PWS350 quite literally shakes the walls and floor but the sound is PURE not a "rumble" or "boomy base". It has NOT "bottomed out" during the most demanding sound tracks or movies. 3. Quality. 5 year guarantee, heavy satillites, great technology, and nice designs.

Strength:

Full range sound, price, and size.

Weakness:

They're not full size speakers (go figure), so they don't handle high volumes well.

I spent a great deal of time reading sat/sub reviews. I decided on the Polk 6600 based on rave reviews on this site and others. I then went to the goodguys. They don't sell polk anymore, but encouraged me to listen to the Energy Take 5.2 system. It sounded pretty good, but I wanted to hear the polks, so I drove accross town to Circuit City. The customer service there was ridiculous. The system was not hooked up properly and I wasn't able to get a good listen. I went back to the goodguys, bought the Energy's, and installed them in my house. They sounded okay, but they were a little too "bright" and I knew in the back of my mind the polks were better. I took the Energy's back and bought the 6600 system with psw350 and am much happier. The polks have a much fuller sound and an incredible soundstage. Excellent resolution. That said, they do not handle high volumes well. At moderate volumes, they are very precise, but turn the knob and they sound a bit rough. I use the system primarily for music, and am quite happy with the purchase. For the price and size, nothing beats 'em. I am now shopping for a set of good bookshelf speakers to augment the sound and fill out the rest of my house.

Strength:

Devilishly powerful, gorgeous, and tiny.

Weakness:

None whatsoever!

It's been over a year since I've purchased these five wonders along with a subwoofer PSW350. And what a purchase I have made. It was worth every penny for happyness brought into my life. I compared these speakers with Klipch, Bose and Paradigm, but these were simply better sounding. For satelite speakers a subwoofer is a must. I don't know how well would PSW250 do, but PSW350 is even too much. Three quarters bass is the most i have used, because higher than half, the room starts shaking. And my Sony 333es 80 watt receiver is never turned higher than half because these babies would knock one down. The body (human) begins shaking if these speakers blast at their full power. Can't ask for anything more for a small appartment.

I was in the same position you are right now a few months back and being serious about fidelity, but without a lot of experience being 24. I read a lot on the Internet and listened to a lot of medium to high end subsat systems. After reading the reviews on this site I went out and listened to and purchased this Polk system and was blown away. I got it into my house and am even more pleased each and every time I watch a DVD or listen to music. To think the sounds come from speakers that can be held in the palm of my hand is amazing, but don't get me wrong, they're solidly built. The PWS350 delivers tight bass that rumbles the house. I like to wait to see new movies so I can listen to them on my new setup because the sound is so much better than many theatres. Give them a listen. You won't be disappointed. Thanks to audioreview.com reviewers for all their help and tips.

Strength:

Outstanding clarity, good handling of crossover, dynamic range, full, rich bass sound.

Weakness:

Missing some mid-range. Be to purchase plenty of wire to accomodate the wiring configuration.

I didn''t know what I was missing in home theater entertainment until hooking up this system. From the Episode I pod race to Gustav Mahler to Sesame Street, the sound from these speakers is pure ear candy. It''s difficult to believe that such compact satellites could reproduce such big speaker sound. The system replaces my old Advent Legacy II speakers and I noticed at first that I was missing some of the mid. Got most of it back after adjusting the receiver, satellites, and sub. Be sure your system includes the sub as some merchants price it separately.

Strength:

Size (you won''t find smaller with such rich acoustic ability) Incredible sound. Great range (crisp highs, deep lows, great mids). Balanced design. Art and science.

Weakness:

None. Be sure to include the proper Polk Sub to suit your needs (PSW350 comes standard, and is great).

Where to begin? These speakers are incredible! I researched for quite awhile trying to find the optimum home stereo/home theatre arrangement, and this is it: the Polk RM6600. I studied speaker specifications, technicals, etc. But the best research was just going and listening to everything available, side-by-side. Trust your own ear, it''s the best judge. This site was an amazing resource. I still can''t quite believe it: a site where people come just to discuss and remark on stereo equipment. And with such enthusiasm! It''s great. After reading, looking, and listening I chose Polk Audio''s RM6600. The sound is amazing and it''s hard to believe it comes from such small satellites. It is warm & melodious for music and crisp & clean for movies. It''s hard to find a system that is great for both, but this is it. Just read the reviews here. People argue over Bose and others, but as far as Polk''s RM6600 is concerned everyone seems to love them and is astonished by them. I feel the same way.

Strength:

Build quality. Sound quality. Sats come in white!!! Bang for the Buck. Versatile - I have them mounted from the ceiling.

Weakness:

I can''t believe they''re Polk. :-)

I thought that I would never be one to buy Polk Audio speakers. As an audiophile and avid contemporary jazz listener I had be coddled by the performance of the KEF 104/2 Ref speakers for over 10 years. However, as bachelorhood turned to fatherhood one pair of speakers found their way into storage while the other pair was trying to find it''s place in our living room decor. I recent months I had acquired a Sony 32" XBR450 TV, Toshiba SD9000 DVD player, JVC S-VHS 9800U VCR, and Pioneer Elite VSX-29TX A/V Receiver. I had great picture/video quality but nothing to deliver the sound. One afternoon I was walking through one of the sound shops in the area and hear this amazing audio coming from one of the home theater rooms. I went over to check out the speakers that was delivering this sound. I couldn''t believe it when I saw that it came from a set of Polk Audio RM6600 home theater speakers. WOW! I was thoroughly impressed and knew that I had to have a set for myself. I began to research and read reviews on these small gems. Let''s just say - "the proof is in the pudding". Now I was faced with another dilemma, did I want to get the recommended PSW350 sub or something else. I was on my way to buy the Velendyne 18" when I came across the Polk Audio PSW650 sub. I compared it side by side to the Velendyne. Again WOW!!! The PSW650 out performed the Velendyne in punch, delivery and tightness - HANDS DOWN! I knew then which sub I was going to pair up to the RM6600. I got to say, once I had it all set up and tuned in I have no regrets. I have my cross-over set at 150Hz for the sub and enjoy full range sound, unlike what some reviewers are calling the "dead zone". Music performance has so far been impressive and DTS is just flat out awesome!!!
