This system sounds awsome. I upgraded to the PSW450 for the extra $100. I have more bass that I know what to do with. That's a very good thing. You can always turn down the bass you can always turn it up. The system works flawlessly on DVD movies. Cd's sound very good especially when you consider the size of the speakers. It's not like your dealing with big towers. This system packs a ton of bang for the buck. I recomend them highly.

Strength:

Small and compact

Sharp, clear sound

Rugged finish

Powerful, loud sound for its size

Weakness:

Weight, lots of it (but that could be a good thing

I've had these bad boys for about 4 months now and I'd say I use them everyday for at least 5 hours on a Harman Kardon AVR-300. They have yet to fail me even though I have the volume at -18dB a majority of the time. They're great for music and never struggle with dvd digital sound. However I notice some struggle in high high end treble when I play Bocelli and Brightman's Time to Say Goodbye at -20dB or higher. That could just be me feeding too much power into them from the reciever.

Just to clear things up MSRP is $1200 with the sub and $650 without.

Very pleased with the Polk 6600's. I was looking for good quality, small, white speakers to mount on the wall. I'm not an audiophile so I didn't need to spend a fortune. Read too many bad Bose reviews so I decided to try the Polk's. Very pleased with the overall sound. You don't get as much bass as you would with big floor speakers, but that's to be expected. They sound awesome for as small as they are. Good speakers for someone with a space constraint. They blend right into my white wall.

Unbelievable speakers...one would not believe the sound quality for such small speakers. This was the best purchase i made in a long time. My room sounds like a movie theater. If space is a problem (like it was for me) then the 6600's are the speakers for you. The only thing i can say is go try them out and you'll know what i mean.

Being the previous owner of a Bose system, I must say there is no comparison between the two. Give me the Polk hands down!!

The RM6600 system comes with the PSW350, but for 100.00 you can upgrade to a PSW450. Best 100.00 dollars I have spent in a while.

I purchased my speakers from Crutchfield. The system price with sub upgrade was 1099.00. I found the same thing for a few bucks less, but having dealt with Crutchfield in the past and using their tech help people, the extra few dollars was well spent. Like the old saying goes "you get what you pay for".

I also purchased a Sony DB930 reciever. It works very well with this speaker system.

Strength:

Big sound from small speakers. Bang for the buck. Quality build (very heavy for the size).

Weakness:

plastic wall mounts.

Fills my 15 by 17 room with theater qulity sound. Upgraded to thge PSW450 sub. Makes the wife come from the kitchen to answer the door when there is no one there. Sounds good at loud volume levels but does distort if too high.

My first movie on my speakers was the Iron Giant (kids had to see it first). The seen where the Giant jumps in the lake blew me away. Sounded like a tidal wave in my living room.

Had a lighting stike come the the power lines. Blew my receiver but the speakers are still going strong.

Recomend for anyone that wants great sound from small speakes (blew the bose away when I demo'd them side by side at C City).

solid construction, you get the "feel" the sound will be great!

Started off I was going to buy a "turnkey" audio system (everything included) for my home theater. Thought the speakers would be a weak link with the "turnkey system" so I decided to piece a system together. After reading all reviews available in my price range I decided to go with a Yamaha RV496 Receiver and Panasonic RV30 DVD. Speakers were the last "piece"...
Read all the reviews on the Polks and Bose. Everyone wrote Polks are the way to go! Went and listened...Bought from federal stereo..best price I could find and no markup on shipping!

Unbelievable sound! Never knew my old ears could hear such sweet audio! Sound is so realistic! Forget Bose.. Get the RM6600 with the larger 12" subwoofer PS450. You will not be disappointed!

Strength:

bass, sound quality for dvd's

Weakness:

a little weak in the treble for cd's

These speakers are an excellent find with the 250 dollar discount offered by polk. They have an awe inspiring powered subwoofer, and 5 satellite speakers that output excellent sound for their size.

I must say that I'm extremely impressed by the speakers and am pleased that I did not go with the bose alternative--bose acoustimass 15. These are (were) cheaper and sound better.

Wall mounts

The Polk RM6600 was comparable to slightly better than the Bose AM15 (Quite a bit better than the cheaper Bose AM sets)at a much nicer price. In addition, these speakers are VERY well constructed (ie METAL -- not plastic or wood).
It is incredible to look at these tiny little boxes and to hear great cinema sound.
The current rebate giving you a free or discounted powered subwoofer make them a STEAL compared to the competition.
My only compaint were the speaker mounts (CHEEEEAP). But then again, most sets don;t include mounts at all.
I haven't finished experimenting, but like other reviewers I believe that allowing my receiver to crossover at 100Hz is superior to using the subwoofer's crossover, despite what the instructions state.
These speakers were a great purchase.

I listened the Polk RM6600 and BOSE AM15 at a local retailer, the Polks hands down sounded cleaner and crisper!

I've been very happy with the quality and sound of these speakers.
