Strength:

Exquisite sound from small sattelite speakers and bass that will please you beyond belief.

Weakness:

Hook-up instructions!

I read many reviews on these speakers and decided to go with them. I heard the DSS-1 and loved the sound but had already bought my new AV Receiver so this system wasn't for me. When I got the speakers, I was pleasantly surprised with the aesthetics and the sattelites are quite heavy for their size! I had to fool around with the different hook-up options until I found the right one. What I did was purchase the Monster Cable Subwoofer RCA cable and used the little T adapter to run the cable into the Sub Line In (both left and right channel) which is different than what Polk might tell you (i.e. they suggest the LFE). I then turned the Variable Low Pass Crossover all the way down to 40Hz so that only the low of the lows come through the Sub. Be sure to set your front channels to "Small" so all bass signals run through the Sub. At this stage I still wasn't getting the bass I had expected so I picked up the remote control and hit button 8 (Ch.) and then the set button until I got to Sub (S-W) and turned it up to 10db and then turned the Sub volume to 5 and put on some Robben Ford and WOW! At the lower volumes, the bass is very warm and rich. This is not to say this is the best set up but it sure works for me.

Enjoy,

Erik

Strength:

The appearance of the satellites, the overall sound quality, and the awesome sub!!

Weakness:

None

I was originally going to buy that pile known as the Bose AM15. After reading a few reviews, talking to a few people, and demoing the Polk RM7500, there was no way in hell I was going spend $1100 on the Bose. The Polk was a bit more money, but DEFINITELY worth it. It has tons of detail, and the subwoofer is awesome - more than enough power for most any application. If you're in the market for a reasonably priced home theather speaker package - BUY THE POLK, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Strength:

SSSUUUBBB WOOOFFFERRR, nice chic look, and great sound

Weakness:

sub was on back order...took 2 months

My search for good speakers at a good price ended after listening to these babies. They happened to be the first speakers i listened to and i was hooked. I listened to a few bose speakers, and they couldn't compare until you reach the $3700 system. I also listened to the Energy Encore, but those where to sharp and came with a very under powered sub. After ordering these from Sound World, i had to wait two months to get them because it turns out that this sub (PSW 650) was on national back order. Once they came and the reciever (marantz sr 7000), i was in audio heavan. Nothing has ever sounded crisp and clear as this HT.

Strength:

MONSTER SUB!!

Weakness:

none that I've found

Man, my house booms with this system! The 7500's have no problem handling my Kenwood VR4090. If I turn the system up half way, stuff goes flying off my shelves. That sub is unbeleivable, I can hear it down the street crystal clear. The center and satelites boom too. Kudos Polk.

I was blown away by all of bad reviews on the bose AM15. I had never heard anything bad about them before I started researching. I just automatically assumed that if it’s “bose” it’s got to be gold. Due entirely to their excellent marketing. I jump on yahoo and search for “Bose reviews” and blam…. Tons of people (on this site an many others) who bought the AM15 or the smaller AM10 and find that it looks real nice but just doesn’t deliver that full range people where expecting.

I haven’t gone for any field tests as of yet, but the Polk 7500 sounds like the real winner here. My only question is that I plan to use the 7500 with an existing subwoofer. What are my options here? How well does a second powered sub work with sat/powered sub packages? Any comments?

Thanks
Jacob
