    Strength:

    Strength:

Price!!! Excellent customer service. Build quality. Great system for the money Attention to small details

    Weakness:

Bass can get a bit boomy on some tracks Bi-Amp capability would be a nice feature.

I normally don't spend time giving reviews because I am surrounded by new audio products on a regular basis. My background is custom car and home audio installations which I performed for a number of reputable companies in TX, AR, and OK over the past ten years. I now work for a IC technology manufacturer and I was in the market for a new surround sound set up for the office to use for testing of some of our PC audio products. Since this set up was going to remain in the office and have frequent but limited use I didn't want to spend a couple of grand on a theater package. But for testing we did have to have something that would play a full spectrum of music and do so cleanly. I had been shopping around when one of my co-worker left me a note pertaining to Station Street and a new line of speakers that had just come into the market. So I checked out the website, and was fairly surprised to see the listing they had for Streem Speakers. They price just blew me away for one and of course made me skeptical as well. So I called Station Street to inquire about their new line and was again surprised. The gentleman at Station Street was a pleasure to talk to and answered every question I had politely, with no regards for time. The guy seemed pretty knowledgable which really means a lot when it come to building confidence. I decided to take a chance on them figuring they would probably be ok for our purposes. Let me just say WOW!! This is a deal. Enough of one that I felt good enough to let everyone know about it. Starting with the shipping. All of the speakers arrived in double cartons. Most may not think twice about it unless you have ever recieved a speaker in shipping with a hole in one of the drivers, or a cabinet all scratched up. Which I have. This says a lot, not about the speakers, but about the company who sells them. VERY NICE!! On to the speakers themselves. First I'll begin with the enclosures. If you have read Streems website, they talk a lot about quality materials. If you haven't, read it and this will all make more sence. There is definitely no disputing that these are of rock solid construction. Yes I have taken them apart and yes everything they list is true. The towers are well braced and the 8" drivers are housed in a separate chamber from the mids and tweets. They are heavy for a speaker with no built in amps. In performance terms this means that flex will be very minimal if any to provide more accurate reproduction of sound. The rolled edges are a nice touch and the overall finish is good. The inclusion of floor spikes are an excellent feature that you usually find common with more expensive speakers as also true with the gold plated binding posts. On to the drivers. All of them are of a polymer material which generally results in longer driver life. The 8" in the towers have a fair amount of excursion and the suspention seems to be pretty tight for a speaker of its size. Magnet structures, even on the mids, centers, and rears are of ample size to coincide with their power ratings and the fronts and centers are shielded. I like the silk dome tweets as my experience has shown that silk does a great job of reproducing sound more natural without a lot of colorization. Crossovers and connections: The X-overs make use of good size coils and all of the soldering on the boards are clean. All of the connections to the speakers were soldered as well as to the binding posts, and the wire used is of a good size. At least 18GA. Now on to the sound: Marvelous. Bass is tight and clean, though they can get a bit boomy on certain tracks. The towers play down to a very respectable frequency and though most audiphiles will like the addition of a dedicated sub, I find that with this set up it is not absolutley necessary. Mid range is clear and distortion free up to a very loud volume. And as I mentioned the tweets do an excelent job. They are very clean. Not harsh or to tinny which I have found common with the use of materials other than silk. Using our Dennon AVR-3300 these speakers played loud and clear and soak up every bit of power the 3300 had. In stereo, music was warm and full. Imaging was much better that I expected and provided great sound staging. Even with the center channel and rears off. In 5.1 the center channel offers good clarity and is not overpowering. The rears provide great effects with ample efficientcy. The use of the same drivers for mids and same tweeters all the way around is always a great idea. Stereo separation is good and the system blends well together. Stereo imaging and surround effect are pretty seamless. Every driver works in harmony together, none over playing another. Movies tracks are vivid. Actions scenes are lively and not cloudy or to muddy and vocals are not overpowered by the action. Overall this is a great system. Is there better out there sure. But I believe you will be very hard pressed to find this quality of build and sound for the money.

    Strength:

Nice finish and stylish looks!!! THey also sound awesome!!! The best part is the price, they kill the competition with a very competitive product!!!

    Weakness:

Center channel causes interference with tv. Just have 2 raise it a bit. Small inconvenience for the price.

I recently purchased the HT-808 package deal. I was looking for floor speakers to enhance my music listening.(my yamaha satellites weren`t cutting it!!) I shopped around a few weeks and was considering buying JBL`s when I decided 2 look around online. I came across the Streem FS-808 and liked the specs on them. I was leery buying something online that I couldn`t see and hear for myself. So I looked around some more and found the HT-808 surround package. I couldn`t believe the price!!! The whole system was around the price of the Pair of JBL floor speakers!!! The FS-808 has the same finish and comparable specs. So I gave Streem a chance, and ordered the whole the package. I sure am glad I did. The package is awesome. The FS-808 are great speakers. THey are very stlish and well made, and they sound awesome. THey are great for movies and music. For the money, Streem is the way 2 go!!!
