Strength:

Great bass, lots of control/expandibility

Totally worth the money. Ya you can get better subs out there but you will pay at least 3 times the price. I listen to rap and it hits great. Used for a little home theater and seems to work pretty good for that too! Only buy if you want some serious bass.

Strength:

Raw 200 watt Power. 15inch. Size. Weight(68 pounds). Deep. Shake my room with ease.

Weakness:

My first subwoofer. Boominess. Amazon.com service stinks! It took 14 days for the sub to be arrive at my apartment.

Once again. I really give hand to all the people who are nice to enough to spend their few mins of their time to actually post their reviews in this site. I really helped me. Now I got my sub from Amazon.com when they had free shipping. I ordered on November 30th and I got on 14 days later. It was really a disappointment from famous Amazon.com to took 14 days to arrive. Well, what can i say I got free shipping. When finally arrived I opend the sub and look at it and one of the corner of sub was damaged. :( I really was disappointed. Well, free shipping what can I say? The Subwoofer works fine. My sub is set at 12hz and the power level at 9:30 o'clock position. I use my sub for my PC DVD player, PC games, and my Onkyo CD player. First I played Saving Private Ryan DTS format on DVD player.
The beginning of 30 mins Normady really take your breath away. And last 30 mins of battle scene where German tank approaching really was shaking my room. I really was worried if anyone called police because how powerful bass was coming from the SUB! I tested the Helicopter explosion seen in Matirx. I also tested on Gladiator DVD. I watched the Battle of Carthage. And finally I tested on my braveheart DVD. Scene from the Battle of Strling where 300 heavy horse approaches. All these scene just take your breath away! Now I also tested this sub for my Music. I really can feel the bass when I play Creed, Supermario Sound track, and Project 86! I really like the sub because of raw
power and the deepness, and I know it's boomy but I don't mind the Boominess. It's awesome for under 200 dollar sub.
DO NOT PAY THIS SUB FOR MORE THAN 200 DOLLARS. Have a nice day.

My systems:

Yamaha HTR-5150.
Onkyo DX730 CD player.
Pair of Acoustic Research AR-318PS. (front)
Pair of Sony SS-MF515. (front)
Pair of OLD argon speakers. (rear)
Acoustic Research C225. (center)
Audiosource 15 subwoffer.
CD player is using Acoustic Research interconnection.
DVD coaxial is Acoustic Research digital cable.

Strength:

Value! Very inexpensive sub, great for movies.

Weakness:

Amp died after 2 weeks, no single pre-amp input (Had to get a Y cable) to connect my pre-amp sub out from my HK deck.

This unit worked great for 2 weeks, then the amplifier in it suddenly died. It wasn't even playing anything when it went south, just blew out its fuse. Tried replacing fuse, but it would just blow as soon as I turned it to 'on'. I didn't like the fact it didn't have a pre-amp sub/lfe input and I had to buy a Y cable from radio shack like the manual suggested. I'll probably pick up another next time I see a deal on them.

Boominess

This sub is great! Like many others, I noticed the boominess right off the bat, so spent less than $5 bucks at Radioshack for some fiber. Added fiber to anywhere where wood was exposed inside the enclose and presto.. a tighter, less-boomy sound! I really cannot position the sub in my livingroom's 'sweet' spot due to room size restraints, but in the corner seems to work well and provide an appreciable amount of bass to really hit the lows. Considering I used a $50 off $200 coupon at Amazon.com and spent a bunch of gift certificates earned from online rewards programs, the total out of pocket expense was $36 with the shipping. Now I can remove the old, clunky 10" speaker boxes out from under the end tables in my livingroom for a less-cluttered home theater. The Audiosource SW-15 is a fantasic buy!

Strength:

Great value play after mod.

Weakness:

Boomy at first. A little big.

Like almost everyone else, I did the mod with the speaker fill and I have found it to be well worth the effort. This thing sounds nice and tight now. I don't push it to increadible levels, but I haven't noticed any distortion.

"Audiophiles" would love to dump on this sub because you can get it at costco but if your an average enthusiast looking for a really good sub to add to your HT, look no further. Also holds up quite nicely when running 2 channel.

Also, it can be used as an end table if you want. This thing is quite sizeable but then again, it's a 15" so what do you expect.

Good base

First sub. Everyone pretty much summed up my thoughts. But here's my new twist to any body that is going to buy this: If you bid on UBID.com to buy anything, beware of the extremely high shipping costs!!! Sure, people are getting these for $144 at UBID, but they didn't tell you that it costs around $55 to $60 to ship this beast. Amazon.com has a coupon right now for $50 off $200, and it can be found at techbargains.com This would bring down the cost of the sub from $225 (list at amazon) to $175, shipped (free shipping right now at amazon). So you do the math, $200 at UBID or $175 at amazon. BTW i don't work for amazon...just trying to pass on this legitimate deal here.

Weakness:

Very good sub for the price, although materials used are fairly cheap.
The power of the amp is over rated, my guess is only about the half,
and this maybe the reason of slightly muddy sound (less damping factor).
But it still a good sub for starting systems. I would give it 5 stars
because its cost effectiveness. Highly recommended.

Strength:

Decent output, Decent accuracy, Excellent build quality for the price

Weakness:

Massive size, VERY VERY placement sensitive, questionable "auto-sensing" turn on feature, obnoxious until polyfill is added

Like many people, I figured "Oh why not" after reading all of the reviews here. I mean, this is a 200 dollar 15" sub, after all...

My first impressions of this sub came from how placement sensitive it is. It seems like evey 1/4 inch that the sub is rotated or moved creates a world of difference. This is not a fatal flaw, however, as most enthusiasts should be able to find any subs's "sweet spot"

Once I had achieved decent initial placement, I started my critical listening sessions. My oh my was this sub ever boomy. Not tight at all...just sloppy and obnoxious. I was, however, prepared for this problem.(again, thanks to the reviews here) I proceeded to open up the cabinet and line the innards with 1 1/2 inch of polyfill.

Let me put the transformation in these words: I have never seen anything like this before. Period. The sub became accurate all of a sudden. The sound was so much tighter...I was astonished, to say the least! Yes, low end output was still a little on the weak side for a 15, and some slight boominess remains, but remember: In the end this is still a two hundred dollar sub!

I really can't say enough about this sub. It might just be the industry's best kept secret. Well done Audiosource!

This sub can be had at the website I got mine from for around 200 dollars SHIPPED TO YOUR DOOR. I highly recommend this website if you cannot find the sub locally!

Oh and I would recommed this driver even if you can only get it at the MSRP of $400. It is still of excellent value at that price!
