Strength:

VERRY VERRY LOUD DEEP BASS & I MEAN LOUD

Weakness:

nextdoor people hate me now

wow when i bought this sub i was shocked at how loud and low this sub whent it produced loud volumes at low frequency's i tested it at 26.8 Hz @ 96 dB i'm not lying it's true i would rather have this sub then the $750 Klipsch KSW-15 and the Velodyne CT-15 this sub rocks over them . I never knew a sub could play at such high volumes in the deep bass zone without no distortion or bottoming out
If your looking for a sub that can play LOUD & DEEP with nice clean rich bass then buy this sub you will be happy.

DID I MENTION IT GOES VERRY VERRY VERRY VERRY LOUD & LOW

Strength:

very powerfull, what better do you describe a sub.

Weakness:

none

this sub is a little larger than i would have it, but from what ive learned whith most speakers if you want big sound usally your gonna need a big speaker.sad but true. This sub will acually shake all four walls in my living room if i want it to.it has very deep bass, and also very clean bass. i usally always buy infinity speakers, but when it comes to sub woofers cerwin vega has the upper hand.

Strength:

Excellent with movies or music.

Weakness:

None that I know of

When I bought this sub, I looked at several models around the same type and price (actually, the ones closest to it were more expensive). I'll tell you what, it is awesome and judging by what I've seen it priced at, I got a good deal. Never the less, I'd have paid more...I think it's that good. I'm not really in to the higher end line of audio but I know good sound when I hear it. It works really well with my new Sony 845 receiver and Fisher speakers. If you want punch, it will provide it.

Strength:

You can actually feel the sound waves coming at you! Friends get envyous about the 12"'s. It's tight sound and clearness

Weakness:

You need a good amplifier to really make it sing...I'll explain.

I get to college with a pretty huge room all to myself. Come in with a panasonic 200watt booming shelf system. I thought it was going to shake my cabinets in my room, (only cabinets 'cus the walls are brick) I play some tunes and nothing shakes! But it still sounds nice. Later on that day I hear some of the baddest bass coming from my next door neighboors room, man this bass made my head hurt it was so awesome. I was not going to have that! I wanted to be the bass king in this dorm, or atleast this hall. Started searching around the web to learn about subs. Asked around people liked cerwin vega. To make my story shorter, I bought my cerwin vega lw12 from Sears open box $300 (*don't buy things unless you really study about them*) and connected it to my weak panasonic. WHAT WAS I THINKING THEN?---This was 1 1/2 years ago--. I was so horrified that hardly any bass was coming out. Young people make foolish decisions! Then I knew it was time to start buying seperates. Got a pioneer reciever-NEVER AGAIN!!!-- and some nice sony 3-ways.. not much bass, just noice, even made my sonys sound bad, then I thought it was time to really study. Bought a Technics reciever (don't laugh just yet) at .5% thd and 100w per 6 disecrete channels, and a subwoofer lever control on the system at $235 I could not care who laughed at my Technics. WOW NOW I HAVE BASS my Cerwin just wanted clear power thown at it just by itself. Then I hooked the reciever up to my computer, played some mp3s upped the bass on the equalizer and the guy next to me had to come over to ask me to lower my bass, WHILE HIS WAS STILL ON!! Now who's the bass king! Thankx Cerwin Vega and remeber always study before you buy, and don't buy on impulse, you'll regret it tomorrow! I give this sub a +5 on Value 'cus it cost $300 when it could well ahve beend bought at 500+. Who cares that it's big, bass kings love big bass and big boxes! I love it, and now everyone is watching movies in my room because the can feel the jet instead of just hearing it zip by.. Thankx

Strength:

Hmmm.none that I found

Weakness:

Too darn big, aweful bass, Auto-On feature kept shutting on and off when there was even a couple of minutes of silence in a movie...Did I mention it's to darn big!

I got rid of my 8" Infinity sub hoping to get some incredible bass from a very well established speaker company like Cerwin Vega. I hooked the sub to my Sony STR-DE925 receiver, made all the adjustments, dropped in a DVD and thought, "geeez this sub box is HUGE, where's the HUGE bass??"
No matter how much I tried adjusting sub and receiver, the sub sounded incredibly flat, dead, no deep bass, just sounded aweful, especially at the price I paid.
I took it back and stumbled on the compact 12" Sony sub SA-WM40. I tested it and was BLOWN AWAY by the deep, clean bass, and it was HALF the size AND half the price ($199) of the CW!!!
To date, this is the best sub I've heard for DVD's and music. Check out the reviews here at audioreview.com.

Do yourself a favor, if you're in the market for a nice inexpensive, but still KICK A** sub, go test the Sony!!
