Strength:

THE OUTPUT OF THIS SUB IS INCREDIBLE. THE PRICE IS RIGHT.

Weakness:

NONE...

THIS SUB IS AWESOME. WE USE IT PREDOMINANTLY FOR HOME THEATER. THE OUTPUT IS SPECTACTULAR. MY WIFE WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT RATTLING THE DISHES IN THE KITCHEN CABINET, WHICH IS A WHOLE ROOM OVER. IT SHAKES THE WOODEN BLINDS AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE ROOM. IT IS VERY TIGHT FOR A 15" INCH SUB. WITH THE COVER OFF, YOU WILL SEE THAT IT PRODUCES HUGE OUTPUT AT NO WHERE NEAR IT'S MAXIMUM EXCURSIONS. IT'S RESERVE POWER IS EXTRAORDINARY. MUSIC IS GREAT, USUALLY HAVE TO TURN DOWN THE SUB OUTPUT LEVEL THOUGH TO BLEND PROPERLY. VERY FAST TRANSIENT RESPONSE FOR A 15" INCH SUB.

GREAT SUB. YOU WILL NOT FIND BETTER FOR THIS PRICE RANGE.

Strength:

A great sub for the price, will shake your foundation.

Weakness:

None yet.

Great performance for home theater, does the job for music. I have this beast setup with def. tech. BP30 in front, clr 1000 center, bpx in the rear, all connected to Yamaha 2095. When watching Twister in DTS this monster almost knocks the walls down. For the price I don't think there is a better sub out there.

this is the best sub i have ever owned..pure power and
very low extension. can shake the foundation of your house without any strain..the first day i got it i played the matrix and i really pushed it hardreproducing sound levels of articulate and distortion free bass....i cant think of a better sub in it"s catagory...
i sold my velodyne ct-100 because it was too boomy and only went to 30hrtz....but the PF15tl+ was so tight and deep i couldnt believe it ...i was going to buy the
mk-125,but this sub totally blew it out the door

Strength:

Incredible value, fast, tight bass. Plays very, very deep!

Weakness:

None with this product.

Hands down, without a doubt, the nicest subwoofer I have heard to date. This speaker is clearly not something for apartment dwellers, you would be evicted in short order!

Clearly, this subwoofer has more in the tank than I'll need for sometime to come. I cannot get over the fact that I was missing so much in the total sound of my system, the extension is so much deeper than I had imagined, yet smooth, but still very exciting!

My intention was to use the PF15TL+ for primarily 5.1 material, but placing this with my Yamaha NS-A1738s (which play rather brightly) gives a real complete package for music as well!

My next experiment may very well be the bi-polar DefTech BP
series which I had the good fortune of auditioning when I purchased this sub.

One word about my local dealer here in the Houston area. Sadly, Definitive Technology speakers can only be purchased by ONE dealer in this town and I can't say they were very interested in my business, or in moving any of Def Tech's products. At all three of their stores, they fed me everthing from trying to sell me M&K, or the story "we wont be getting those in"

I drove to College Station for this sub. AudioVideo was most helpful, carried the entire Def Tech line and seemed truly interested in me as a customer. It was worth the 100 mile trip I kid you not!

Strength:

good review by home theater magazine

Weakness:

doesnt have one

i dont have this sub but if i can do it all over again i would trade in my paradigm ps1000 which i purchase for 400 dollar and get this for 699 without a doubt from the reviews here and magazines i wish i had this subwoofer i dont like my ported subwoofer i would go for the subwoofer that dont have ports because of boominess. i havent heard this subwoofer yet but theres a store near my house sell these but i haven't gone there because i already have a subwoofer already. i'm going by what i read from here and home theater magazine which i read they had a list of very good subwoofer like vedolyne dont know if i spell it right and mk sub paradigm kilpsch nht sunfire and more of just some of the best but only one had a 95 rating out of 100 and it was definitive pf15tl which had 300 watt this subwoofer has 500 watt the new version pf15tl+ that says alot about this subwoofer and also won subwoofer of the year by Grand Prix Award this subwoofer is for you but go listen you are the best judge.

Strength:

Tremendous power! House rattling ability, extremely well built. Price!!!!!

Weakness:

Come on, at this price?!

I have already posted a review for this beast, but I have now added a second one, so I just had to tell more....

I think word has already gotten out about the performance of the Definitive subs, but for those who haven't heard them yet, and are in the market for a sub, you simply MUST give this powerhouse a listen. When I was looking for subs I started with the Paradigms, and PSB's, I did like both of them, but as soon as I heard the Definitive I was done, I bought it right there on the spot! Adding the second one was icing on the cake, DEFINETLY NOT NECESSARY THOUGH! Had some extra $$$$ and figured why not?

Down to the details: Thunderous power, very tight, controlled and precise. First up was the Yes Album cd, track 1 Yours is no disgrace, the keyboards kind of carry the tune, and really thunder throughout the whole song. The bass is so strong, you can literally feel it running right through you. I have listened to Yes and this particular song many times over the years, and I have NEVER EVER heard this music reproduced like this! Tight, extremely deep but very controlled. This is the way music is supposed to sound.

Next, House on Haunted Hill dvd. Not a great movie, but the sound more than makes up for this. I honestly had to jump out of my chair and turn the gain on both subs down from 11 o'clock, back to 9 o'clock. I thought the floor was going to cave in! Good thing I own a house and not an appartment, I'd be looking for a new place. The bass was POUNDING. The PF15TL+'s really did what good subs are supposed to. They rumbled when needed and slammed when they were supposed to, the dynamic power on the amps really blew me away. I have never heard a sub play this low and clean ever before. Distortion is not in the vocabulary of the PF15TL+'s, man, are these subs smooth and powerful!

My equipment:
Denon AVR4800
Onkyo Integra DPS-5 dvd player
Pioneer PDF908 101 disc cd player
Pioneer 51 inch rptv
Definitive Tech BP10B's, fronts
Definitive Tech CLR1000B, center
Definitive Tech BP2X's, surrounds
2 PF15TL+ subs.

Power, smooth

Weakness:

Requires good positioning for optimal sound

Let's get something straight. With any product, one's decision is always welcomed regardless of whether it's popular. However, if you do not fall within a given majority, it's only fair to ask that you provide us more background regarding how you came to your decision. Specifically, what type of system do you have to which you can justifiably attribute your criticisms or compliments? It's very possible that those who have criticism also have systems worthy of criticism as well. I happen to fall within the majority for this sub...and that is of a favorable review. I think this sub has gets pretty low which is substantiated with my analog sound meter. It gets to 20 Hz no problem but immediately rolls off after that. But let's face it, a sub should not be measured by frequency alone. I think it sounds great as well. I actually have two of them, and they do a fantastic job in my home theater system. Although I don't have a Krell HT system, my Acurus ACT 3 with my Paradigm speakers match very well with my subs and I don't know anyone who does not like the way my system sounds. I did spend some time tuning it all so that it sounds "perfect," at least according to my ears. Maybe those who criticize should do the same. After all, anything worthwhile takes some effort. If you disagree, put your money where your mouth is and let the world know what you have it hooked up to. Then ask yourself, is it your sub, your system, or just you.
