Strength:
Provides clean response with music and has strong impact with movies.
Weakness:
None for me. I really enjoy this sub because my goal was to find a sub that performed well with music and movies. This sub blends perfectly with my system and at $350., brand new in a box, it's a great value for a quality product. Similar Products Used: Pro Sub 80 |

Strength:
Small size, big sound; goes down to 19 hz; 250 watts; clarity
Weakness:
None found This sub was a relief to me. I had purchased the Klipsch KLF-12 just days before and had the fuse blow within 48 hours. I returned it for a refund. After seeing all of the accolades for D.T. in Home Theater Magazine, I thought it would be the way to go - so I went to an authorized dealer. After getting an amazing demo to the movie, U-571's depth charge scene, I knew this was the one. I bargained them down to $399.00. Quite honestly, this baby has simply amazing and big sound from a smaller size (10 inch woofer) sub - it will easily fit most anywhere (I have it placed behind one of my tower speakers in the corner of my living room with no problems since it is non-directional). Strength:
Amazing power, dynamics, very musical if tweaked correctly
Weakness:
Cheap feet (no spikes included or optional, just plasticy-rubber feet It's only been several days after purchase and it sounds terrific. The output levels can go way beyond that which I care to listen to, so power is no problem. This unit certainly sounds lovely and has given my bookshelf speakers (B&W DM303) a much fuller low end for music. Output is deep and punchy for the upper-bass and it really makes your seat shake when you get into lower frequencies. Port noise is almost nonexistant except at obnoxiously loud volumes that most similarly priced subs won't even touch. The only better sub I have heard was a sunfire that was also demoed at The Gramophone. Even though the sunfire could get louder, it might have been because it was placed in a corner. I have my sub positioned under my desk because of space problems, but it's set at a relatively low crossover so it really does not interfere with imaging too much. This might not apply to the audiophile, but for those who have their system hooked up to their gaming PC or console, this guy will rock your seat when playing ultra-violent games like unreal tournament =). For the price, it totally has the Klipsch KSW-12 runnin home to mommy (which is $50 retail more). The klipsch just had too much distortion and the port noise was VERY VERY discernable from the rest of the music. One nice thing about the Def. Tech sub is that it's solidly built, however it doesn't weigh a whole lot. Despite the low weight the cabinet is very solid feeling and the finish is just what it should be, unobtrusive and plain. Another nice thing is the grille, which when put on takes quite a bit of effort to take off. I seriously doubt any child or the subwoofer itself could manage to pull the grille off. My only tiny gripe is that the control plate on the amplifier is a little chintzy feeling. It doesn't feel like it'll fall apart, but I think they could have done better on the high level input binding posts. Then again, I'd rather have a sub that sounds good and has average connections than a sub with superb connections and crappy sound ;). Go have a listen if you can and you should be very happy with the bang/buck ratio. Similar Products Used: Klipsch, misc sub/sat systems |

I bought this sub along with a pair of B&W 601's. The sub sounds terrific. I've played around with different levels of volume and the gain and I've yet to hear it bottom out. I think it produces an incredible smooth bass. It compliments my B&W's and my Yamaha 992 receiver. My household listens to all types of music and it sounds wonderful with them all. The auto on/off is also a nice feature. For the price and the size, it's well worth it. |

I owned the New ProSub 80 (Def Tech's 8", 250 watt baby boomer) and liked it a lot- loads of energy- but at medium volumes, the air turbulence from the slot (port) are annoying. The ProSub 100 is definately a better choice. I upgraded to it and haven't looked back... |

Bought this sub to go with my B&W home theatre system about 2 weeks ago and have been highly impressed since. The cabinet is so small that it's mis-leading. I have to turn the sub down low just to keep it at "normal" bass levels. Even down low, I can feel it in the floor upstairs!! I wanted a system with high end quality without paying thousands for each set of speakers....and thats what I got. In the case of the sub...I know I could spend thousands for subs that would blow this away, but for the approx. $400 price tag its more than I need AND its hard to beat. I've played this speaker at all levels and currently can't find a complaint...gotta give it a 5. |

After 3 1/2 years this sub is still producing distortion free bass. Great for movies & music. Despite the compact size of this sub it is still dropping down to 18 hz, rivaling 15 inch subs. I have tested this unit to the max with spectrum analysis computer software and found the result very impressive. With interest lying in LFE this sub produces well for its price. At least a 4 star product. |

Strength:
Clear, powerful and tight bass
Weakness:
None so far About a week ago, I went to my local United Audio Center intent on purchasing a Definitive Tech PF15TL sub. Unfortunately, the salesman advised that Definitive dropped the larger subs from their product lineup, apparently because their powered towers already come with large, built in subs, and few customers felt the need for an additional sub. They now offer the ProSub 200, which is a 12", 250 watt powered sub with a very small footprint. I purchased this model and am very pleased with the quality of the bass. I listened to a 15" Velodyne costing over $1000 that sat next to the Definitive, and noted that the Velodyne had more output, but it sounded muddy. When the Definitive was switched on, the output dropped slightly but the bass was very tight and well defined. I don't mean to imply that there was any lack of low end. The ProSub 200 could literally be felt in the gut, and the sound quality made me buy it on the spot. I'm happy to report that when I hooked it up to my system, the results were outstanding! While watching the DVD of "Das Boot", the German submarine movie, I must have jumped off the couch 20 times when the Allied destroyer dropped depth charges above the submarine. The explosions could be felt as well as heard, as the air in the room must have been sucked in and out of the subwoofer. This was the first time that I really felt like I was part of the movie, enveloped in sound, and not just a spectator. Of course, after that experience, I have to watch all of my DVD's all over again. You should hear the 15" cannons in "The Last of the Mohicans". WOW! |
