Strength:
Clear, powerful and tight bass
Weakness:
None so far About a week ago, I went to my local United Audio Center intent on purchasing a Definitive Tech PF15TL sub. Unfortunately, the salesman advised that Definitive dropped the larger subs from their product lineup, apparently because their powered towers already come with large, built in subs, and few customers felt the need for an additional sub. They now offer the ProSub 200, which is a 12", 250 watt powered sub with a very small footprint. I purchased this model and am very pleased with the quality of the bass. I listened to a 15" Velodyne costing over $1000 that sat next to the Definitive, and noted that the Velodyne had more output, but it sounded muddy. When the Definitive was switched on, the output dropped slightly but the bass was very tight and well defined. I don't mean to imply that there was any lack of low end. The ProSub 200 could literally be felt in the gut, and the sound quality made me buy it on the spot. I'm happy to report that when I hooked it up to my system, the results were outstanding! While watching the DVD of "Das Boot", the German submarine movie, I must have jumped off the couch 20 times when the Allied destroyer dropped depth charges above the submarine. The explosions could be felt as well as heard, as the air in the room must have been sucked in and out of the subwoofer. This was the first time that I really felt like I was part of the movie, enveloped in sound, and not just a spectator. Of course, after that experience, I have to watch all of my DVD's all over again. You should hear the 15" cannons in "The Last of the Mohicans". WOW! |

Strength:
VERY Tight/Quick Bass, a decent musical sub with absolutely no distortion at any volume level.
Weakness:
None so far I have auditioned a lot of subs in a similar price range from the likes of Velodyne, Monitor Audio (about $250 more) and Tannoy. Out of all I have to say I am extremely happy (and amazed) with the performance of the DEF TECH sub. The one weakness between all of the ones mentioned above is the additional 150Watts of power you get with the DEF TECH. While I liked most of these for music performance, I felt they all lacked the punch needed when used for HT. That’s where the 250W amp comes ALIVE. This is 250W RMS (approx 600W peak…..does not say anywhere what the peak is but its power rating is 700W so I am assuming you can get 600W). Strength:
Very Powerful for a small box. Brings out the lowest rumbles . Very nice Bass. Will move your walls and rattle your windows and that's with volume turned up only 1/4 of the way up. I have Def Pro monitor 100's, with a Sony 43" and Yamaha RXV-596 AV,AMPEX DVD. The system is awsome. Watching Private Ryan and hearing the bullits fly across the room was awsome. I highly recommend this Home Theater System. According to the manufacturer the speakers need a 20-40 hours breaking in period. I have noticed that the sound gets better with each use.
Weakness:
None At this Time Buy it you will not regret it.......... Similar Products Used: None |

SMALL SIZE, AND GOOD SOUND
Weakness:
SLOW AUTO-ON THIS IS THE 125 WATT PRO-SUB 100. AT FIRST I HAD IT IN THE WRONG SPOT SO IT DID'NT SOUND AS DEEP,LATER WITH BETTER PLACEMENT THE RUMBLE WAS AMAZING TO ME. I REALLY AM NOT AN EXPERT BUT I WAS REALLY SURPRIZED AT HOW LOW THE NOTES IN MOVIES AND MUSIC REALLY ARE. FOR IT'S SIZE IT REALLY DELIVERS. THE ADJUSTMENT CONTROLS ON BACK ARE NICE TOO. I just got the ProSub two days ago and I love it! It's hard to believe that so much bass is coming out of such a small sub. It shakes your insides! To get the explosive bass you need to put it in a corner though. There may be better subs out there, but I was pressed for money and space. I wanted some huge monster speakers, but I will be going to college soon and want to take my home theater system with me, so I am buying to Definitive Pro Cinema 200 system. It wouldn't be practical to put 5 huge behemoths in a tiny dorm room. My friend has the whole system, and it sounds awesome. The dramatic bass is the best part. That's why I bought the sub first. |

Strength:
Clean, Tight Bass
Weakness:
None that I know of yet. This little sub puts out great sound. It never seems to get muddy or distort. About the only downside that I can see with this sub is that your neighbors will not be pleased. It can really shake and rattle things if turned up. Watching Movies and Listening to Music isn't just an audible sensation anymore, It's a physical one- You can feel the bass hit ya right in the chest.
