Strength:
Great for movies, unusual bass for an 8 inch sub. The range of the sub is amazing.
Weakness:
Be careful not to turn the bass on the sub up to high or else it resinates out of the unusual port design (the port has an unusual over hang).Music quality is good but i didn't buy it for music i bougfht it for the awesome bass for movies. Much better bang for the buck and the size. The size of this sub is tiny compared to the sound. I brought my friends over and they thought by the sound that i had bought a 12. I can't stress the sound its BIG. The only problem is like i stated before Similar Products Used: Kilpsch and Polk |

Lots of Smooth silky base
Weakness:
On off triggering, constant readjustment I was intending to buy new main speakers. My old ones(Polk 5b's) were not rated to the power of a new Yahmaha rxv 995 I had purchased 18 months ago. When I spoke to the sales guy ( Martin Bourne [SP?]) about my plans and my room, he said he thought a Sub would make everything right again, so I bought the Pro sub 80. Hook-up was a snap, changed the settings on the receiver whipped out the "Fight club" DVD cued up the plan crash scene( this always made bad things happen with my old mains). The walls shook my teeth rattled. Nothing was making any sound of complaint ( except my wife) Just like that I had saved about $1500. My next purchase will be a 16:9 high def TV. Guess who will be getting the commision on that? All you guys at discount outlets ( future shop, 2001 stereo etc) take note. There is a reason the guys at Bay Bloor get to sell more product than you even if the prices are a few bucks more. Similar Products Used: first kick at the can |

Strength:
A Delicious Rumble when you need it!
Weakness:
Massive port noise on hard transients. Which probably explains the "cabinet noise" that the gentleman above noticed. I'm filling a 15X15 room. I used the sub for home theater. I noticed quite a bit of port noise from the sub at high volumes. This sub sounds great at low to medium volumes. If you want loud you're gonne have to go to a 10 or 12 based on your room size. Overall I liked the sub, although it's a tad bit boomy. It's a decent deal for one who won't be trying to impress their friends. I have changed subs since I bought the Definative as the Retailer that I deal with has an awesome exchange program. I have moved to Paradigm as it is a little more what I am looking for in Price/Performance. Similar Products Used: Paradigm |

This was a great sub- clearly beat the Energy ES 8 in output. The port turbulence at moderate volume did me in though. I traded the sub in for the 125 watt, 10" ProSub 100 from Definitive for $50 more- Aaaaahh it's awesome! Both subs will do the job in music and Home Theater though. |

Strength:
Good bass
Weakness:
Died in three days This subwofer was working very well for two days. The sound quality is good. But I won't say as good as Paradigm PDR12 which I got as a replacement for this sub. The sub died after working for two days. I listen to music more than watching vedeo. I will recommend every one to purchase a 10'' or 12'' woofer if you listen to music more. Size, volume control.
Weakness:
See Review. I just purchased the ProSub8 yesterday.I hooked it up today and was watching U-571 when all of a sudden, Pop..........That was it. I only had the volume at 12 oclock, so it wasn't playing too loud, But it Pluncked out on me. Dead as a door knob. Couldn't understand it. I took it back and they said it;s not the fuse, must be the speaker. Duh !!!!!! My only question was WHY !!!!! I've only heard great reviews about this speaker. Just make sure you break it in for about 12-14 hours before you start cranking it. I didn't even have a chance to experience all of the good things the other reviewers stated, but I was willing to get a replacement and give it another try. |

Weakness:
None found yet. I've connected the LFE input on the Sub to the Sub out of my Receiver, setting the low pass control on the Sub to 150. This makes for a seemless blend with my Sat Speakers. I plan to try other connection options as time allows... just to compare. But I think this is the best option for my current system. I needed a Sub with a small footprint and big sound. One that would work well with music and movies. Preliminary research indicated this would cost me between $600. - $1000. not fuse protected *none visiable I too have the jbl trio135 effects package alon with this monsterious sub all I can say is go a try it. I must say I look around at places like Best Buy, Circuit City and I almost settled for one of the 10inch subs there but paying about another 50 bucks was more than worth the money. This sub can bring out the best in any one's system!! Similar Products Used: JBL, bose |
