Strength:

Reaches low, great adjustability with xover, enough volume to please people that want to have their heads pounded. Also small enough to fit under end tables or in the ent. center.

Weakness:

None that I've noticed.

Shopped hard for a cheap sub and finally found a used vtf-2. Very impressive sub. Tested and adjusted it with Lord of the Rings DVD and it shook the house. I ended up turning the sub almost all the way down in extended freq mode, and I get great sound musically (not too much bass, great transients) and with movies. I couldn't imagine how loud this sub could get in max output mode (definetly louder than my wife would tolerate), but whatever floats your boat. Oh, don't forget the "cheater" plug, or you can just dremmel off the ground prong on a 3-cable plug.

Strength:

Good tight bass.

Weakness:

None.

I have had this sub well over a year and I can't believe how well it performs. Just the other nite I watched Resident Evil on DVD. Not a good movie but the soundtrack is very demanding. Let me tell you, the VTF-2 had my wife screaming for me to turn it down...what a rush! Hats off to HSU. I love your product.

Strength:

Small size belies the great bass this sub puts out.

Weakness:

none whatsoever!

This sub integrates seamlessly with my Ascend Acoustics CBM-170s. I have the sub set in the max extension mode (25Hz) and it REALLY delivers deep, controlled bass. Together with my Onkyo 595 receiver, I feel that I'm really getting "the most bang for my buck". This sub also performs wonderfully with music. I had to use the "cheater plug" that was included to eliminate the hum. I'm totally pleased with my purchase and look forward to many years of listening pleasure!

Strength:

Very loud, very deep.

Weakness:

Came with a faulty power supply. Hsu handled it well, but it's something I shouldn't have had to deal with. Showed me what "good" means. Now I have to buy better main, center, and surround speakers.

Put in the Telarc recording of the 1812 Overture, then decided to go outside. Fifteen minutes later my wife asked, "is that thunder?" No, it's cannons coming from the stereo. If I tried, I might be able to blow the windows out my family room with this thing.

Strength:

Great lows for 10 inch sub, you can feel the bass.

After trying subs from Boston, Def Tech, and Klipsch based on reviews from this forum I purchased the VTF2. None of the others really sounded great with movies. I was worried the 10 inch wouldn't sound big... but this is hands down the best sub out of the group I tried. I even had to install rubber bumpers on close cabinet doors so it didn't rattle them. I haven't used heavily with music yet (ie the variable tuning capability). Get this sub. For the price you won't find better.

Strength:

Great low end- clean, tight bass. Setup very easy.

Weakness:

Just recieved this great sub. After using an Adire Rava for 3 months. Had to send the Adires back -- 3 of em. Defective circuit boards. This sub has great low end thump. I' using it for music only running from a Cambridge Audio 2 channel amp. All the positive reviews listed here are correct. Great low end and very musical. Clean, tight bass. An amazing sound from a 10" speaker.

Strength:

Strong and solid bass performance. Sounds equally well with music and films. Very efficient.

Weakness:

A tiny amount of loose fiberglass stuffing material blew out of the side vent hole while listening to the demo disk. Is that a weakness? Otherwise, none!

First, I too have to give special mention to Sasha at Bluewhaleaudio for his excellent customer service. Now, to the sub: Impressive is the first word that comes to mind. My HT room measures 16x24x8, which I thought might be borderline to going with the VTF-3. So far, though, this sub delivers and I am very satisfied with it's performance. I have yet to turn the volume control past 11:00 and I keep the crossover setting at 40hz. A couple of really nice low end bass tracks to recommend are the following: Rush: "Tom Sawyer" from "Exit...stage left." Rush: "Show me, don't tell me" from "Different Stages." When Geddy kicks in his bass pedals--look out! :-) Overall, measuring price to performance, and by that I mean performance at any price, the VTF-2 is very impressive indeed.

Strength:

Bass overall quality Extension

Weakness:

None

EXCELLENT subwoofer. Plays extremely loud, but not at all boomy like other subs I''ve heard. The big difference between this and other subs is the extension. Used in max extension mode (because this sub is already plenty loud in the 30-80 range), I have found that this sub plays low enough to let me FEEL the bass that is too low to even hear. I haven''t experienced that sensation before, and it is a rush! I highly recommend this. Also, I highly recommend dealing with Sasha at bluewhaleaudio.com who dealt with me very personally and promptly.

This is a great sub. I cannot imagine wanting more or deeper bass. The price is about one-third of what you would pay for a sub that might sound as good.

I am not sure I could add much to what has been said about the VTF-2. It is good value and was the most impressive sub I have tried for any price close to it. Well worth trying one because like me you will end up very happy.
