I bought mine from NetMarket for $299 + shipping from NetMarket. At the moment they are running a 3 month membership for a $1 and then after that if you want to stick with them it is something like $70/year. However as long as you are a memeber...you also get an additional 2 year warranty for anything that you purchase from them as well as a 135% price protection (difference back + 35% of the difference).
The amp that I currently own does not have a separate subwoofer output so I have the sub inline with my rears.

For $300 this sub is fantastic. I origonally bought it b/c my mains were not putting out enough bass. I listened to the low and mid end Velodyne's and JBL's and for twice the price...I did not see twice the difference. If you are like me and want some boom and your ears can't pick out the 2% difference (and sometimes less than that) in quality between this sub and the more expensive ones...then this is the sub for you. I even use it when I watch TV...I did not realize how much I am missing. I find that depending on what I am watching I have to adjust the levels...I keep things lower for TV viewing (am and xover cutoff) and up it for music an movies. Its sort of a pain in the ass to have to get up and fiddle with the knobs on the sub when I switch media.

I am going to give it 4 stars four a couple of reasons...I wish it had a remote, I wish it got louder (not that it does not get plenty loud...but I am not at that point where I have to wonder about the structural integrity of the building yet) and I wish the high point on the crossover was at 200Hz vs 150Hz.

Excellent sub for the price, I owned an Infinity RS12 Reference Series Servo Controlled sub that was fantastic until it ceased to thump any more, and the Repair shop could not fix. Infinity replaced free of charge with the BU150 as the RS12 is no longer in production (very nice of Infinity to do so, unit was out of warranty!). The BU150 is not as tight as the RS12 was, but the BU150 definately goes lower and can distinctly play louder when needed. This is not an audiophile's sub, but definately not intended to be. Unlike previous posts, I would think twice before crossing higher than 85 hz, this is a serious bottom reinformcement sub. For the the enthusiast this sub offers a great blend of musicality plus the low end and power required for Home Theatre. From a bang for the buck perspective in the $300 sub range, I don't see any contenders until you spend about $150-200 and get into the low end Velodyne range. Infinity has raised the bar for the middle range sub market.

Got mine from NetMarket about a week ago. This is definitely not a sub for music, but then for $350 you're not going to get a Velodine. For movies it is an excellent sub. I found that the sound quality was ok until I crossed it over very low (about 80hz) at which time it really sounded great, even with music. This sub is able to fill my 20x20 living room with wall-shaking bass. If you want an audiophile sub, this isn't it. If you want to add impact to movies then this sub is an outstanding deal.

Great Bang for the Buck!!!!! This subwoofer performs great with movies... If you like you shake walls, try this the BU-150. I played the DTS DVD version of Waterworld and the Eagles "Hell's freezes over" DTS DVD and both sounded great. I have no complaints, I feel I made a great purchase. I've listened to top of the line subs and they sound outstanding, but for the price this Infinity is a top performer at its price range.

I have a Energy ES10 and a BU150. The ES10 is a very good and tight. The BU150 is loud and I can FEEL the bass. Now I use the ES10 for my bedeoom and BU150 for the living room.
However, I do have couple concerns/questions for this sub:

1. this sub never turns off? it goes to standby mode (LCD turns into red) when you are not using it and the amp is always a little warm.

2. I have to tune my Sony ES receiver 1/3 up in order for the subwoofer's LCD turns to green.

3. everytime you plug into the wall you get an loud "boom!"

Otherwise this is a very good sub!

Strength:

WOW what a GREAT sub for the price. I got it at Amazon.com for a GREAT price. It trully gives me the thump in my chest that I have been lacking with my passive sub.

Weakness:

Hard to get the bass to not be too agressive. It took a while to calabrate, but I got it to work now, and it is excelent.

This is the best Sub I could find for the price. It met all my needs and even exceeded them for the price!! If you are on a budget, and still want to FEEL the bass and not just hear it, thias is the sub for you!

I decided to purchase a 8inch woofer a few months ago and was never happy with it. I waited a long time and did a lot of searching and digging to see what subwoofer would meet my needs, then at www.shop4.com I saw this woofer for 365$ ( for a non-member ) and i decided to give it a shot from the reviews I read. I was scared that it would not put out the boom I needed to feel.....
I popped in my True Lies DVD and was blown away by the explosion in the opening sequence. I was impressed but not too impressed..... Then i skipped to the scene with the jets, and for the first time i could really feel the jet engines shake my whole house, then the jets fired the missles at the bridge and; WOW!, I was never able to feel the impact of those missles at all with my 8inch, but now it added a huge,gut-wrenching slam to the scene

Then I decided to watch an entire movie with my subwoofer; I rented Mask Of Zorro, and once again : WOW!!!! the movie was nothing like when I saw it at the theatres, *every* gunshot gave a thump through my chest from the .1FX channel. And there was three HUGE explosions that really put out the boom that I was completely missing from my 8inch woofer. The best boom was at the end when it thundered through my whole house, scared my Moms cats, and shook the windows in the living room at the other end of the house.

Anyway, these were the only two movies I watched so far, but I know I made a great decision; the sub was worth every penny, I couldn't be happier with it, and I recommend it to anyone.

Strength:

flexible hookup options
good bass in the 36-80hz range

Weakness:

Lack of low end bass below 36 hz
doesn't turn on sometimes

After reading some reviews on this item here I decided to order one, however I am kind of disappointed with its performance. I ordered from shop4.com which was an absolute nightmare and I'll never buy from them again. That doesn't bias me against the BU150 however(I hope anyway). Mine doesn't hum at all, however as another reviewer said you have to keep adjusting the volume control. It doesn't seem to turn on unless I turn my reciever volume up like others have said too. The crossover knob doesn't seem to have too much of an effect on its output either. This will rattle the windows and walls but it just doesn't have that low end punch I've heard on other systems. It should have somewhat since it's rated to go as low as 28hz. I even tried hooking it up via the speaker in/outputs, not much of a difference. I did some checking with test tones and it really drops off around 31hz. I can still hear the test tones below that to 28hz but they're barely audiable. Sounds kind of boomy as well. I think I'll probably be returing this and getting a Klipsch KSW12 instead, since it seems to have good reviews and no DOA/hum problems. Don't get me wrong, the BU150 is probably great for some people, it's just I'm not one of them. I give it 3 stars for value, since it's pretty hard to get it from a place hassle free for the price range it should be in($220-360), and because I think the retail value is way overpriced(around $500). I don't really enjoy this sub so I give it an overall value of 2 stars. I may have a defective unit but then if that's the case, Infinity should really do a better job in the Quality Control department.

Strength:

IF YOU LIKE TO NOT ONLY WATCH A MOVIE, BUT FEEL IT, THIS IS THE SUB FOR YOU. SOUNDS INCREDIBLE WITH DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 AND DTS AS LONG AS YOU USE A DIGITAL COAXIAL CABLE. IT'S STILL VERY GOOD WITH REGULAR WIRE, BUT YOU AIN'T HEARD NOTHIN' YET IF YOU DO! THIS THING WILL GER SO LOUD, YOU CAN' HEAR THE MOVIE ANYMORE, I HAVE PUMPED AN ACUAL 400 ATTS THROUGH THIS THING AND IT DOSEN'T DISTORT AND HASN'T BLOWN YET.

Weakness:

SOUNDS SLIGHTLY MUDDY WITH REGILAR RADIO OR CD MUSIC,BUT HARD TO TELL UNLESS YOU HAVE WAY TOO MUCH TIME ON YOUR HANDS. STILL SOUNDS GOOD THOUGH. DOSN'T LIKE LOW WATTAGE AT ALL, IT WILL GET HOT IF YOU DON' GIVE IT POWER OR LET IT GET LOUD.

PROBIBLY BEST IF USED WITH A DIGITAL SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM THAT CAN PUT ATLEAST 120 WATTS TO IT. DEFFINATLY ONE WITH A SEPERATE SUB OUTPUT. NOT RECOMENDED FOR USE WITH MUSIC ENTHUSIASTS, ONLY MOVIE ENTHISIASTS. ALL TESTS I DID WERE WITH THE RADIO, CD, AND DVD USING A HARMON/KARMON RECEVER AND MONSTER CABLE SPEAKER WIRE AND MONSTER CABLE DIGITAL COAXIAL GOLD PLATED CABLE. GREAT BUY FOR THE MONEY. FOUR STAR RATING IS FOR MUDDY MUSIC.

Strength:

Price = $249 + shipping from Amazon.com

Weakness:

Very poor definition, lack of low end response

I was severly disappointed with this sub after the favorable reviews and the price I got it for ($282 shipped).
It plays just a couple dB louder than my old 10" 100 watt Kenwood, but does not sound nearly as good. All the output is in the 45-70 Hz range. Yes it makes the walls rattle but does not give you that sense of depth or pound your bones at all. Using a test disk for frequency range this thing nose dives after 42 Hz.
Using a base of 85 dB it is at 68-70 dB at 30 Hz. Unexceptable. My Energy Exl-S8, from my Take 5 set, has a small spike at 36-38 Hz giving it low end grunt then starts to fall, but not nerly as fast as the BU-150. Accuracy is not all that great. Drums don't sound realistic etc.

But if all you have is small bookshelf speakers I could live with this sub, but I always be wanting more.
