Strength:
Tight and powerfull bass. This is the best sub (for sure) in the $600 dollars range !!! Two radiators which send the bass evenly to all directions !!
Weakness:
Monster Size, Legs broken off easily, Heavy ! A very small hum noise when not in use. No remote. No auto on. This sub really kick my ass. Strong, powerful, and rumble bass but still very tight, accurate and musical !! I used Wharfedale Modus 1.6 as main speakers which already has tight and low bass. It does not make sense to get a 100 or 200watt sub because it won't give much difference to my feeling. I decided to get a 500 or 1000 watt sub. For the price at uBid, I could get a 1000watt sub for the price of a 200watt sub !! So why not ? Similar Products Used: Infinity BU series, Polk, Cambridge Sound Work. Strength:
Clean and tight bottom end.
Weakness:
Not as efficient as many lower cost units...especially for a unit with a 1K amp. Signal leakage in the crossover network. No auto On/Off. No Video Shielding. Unit was received with legs broken off. Being returned to Ubid.com for full refund including shipping. Told Ubid that they were selling DAMAGED "B" stock as "NEW" to drive up the prices they were getting. These units should never have been sold as "NEW" or even refurbished. What they're doing is criminal. Ubid has agreed to a full refund including the return shipping cost. No problem with the infinity Sub if they had sent me a "NEW" as shown on their Website. Be careful as they may try to blame the damage on UPS. I've purchased too many item on mail order including large items to know when a unit was damaged in transit or was sent out as damaged and repackaged. Strength:
amazing bass output you can hear and feel! solid build.
Weakness:
BIG size. Since my HK AVR70 doesn't have a LFE output, i haven't experienced any problems that some of the other folks have encountered. This thing absolutely rocks! I didn't know what to expect when i order this, but it hasn't disappointed. When the box arrived via Fedex, i knew the unit was a quality unit-the thing was HEAVY. as far as audio equipment is concerned, heavy usually equals high output and this thing did not disappoint. once i got this monster hooked up, i threw some music CD's at it and i couldn't believe all the low frequencies i had been missing before! i had to replay all of my CD's to really appreciate the added dimension of bass that this brought to my sound system. then tried playing "the matrix". WOW! almost every scene shook the floor. and i only had the volume set to 4.5 of 10. (in an attempt to be considerate to the neighbors, i have it turned down to 3 now with awesome bass output still)i can't wait until i can purchase a home to unlock this thing's full potential. i would highly recommend this sub. in fact the sub is now overpowering the AVR70 so it looks like i'll have to start saving for the new Outlaw stuff that's due out in the future. 8) |

Strength:
Massive Bass (if not used on LFE)
Weakness:
Will not work on 5.1 LFE output, remote would be sweet, I wish Infinity had stuck to black like my speakers Ok...I saw the horror stories about LFE not working going on in the reviews of the Infinity HPS-500. But no word here of 5.1 LFE not working on the HPS-1000. So I figured it was safe to snap one up from UBid. Wrongggg...my little JBL 100 watt sub was working fine on the LFE output from my Onkyo 656 receiver, but the Infinity just will not work...only very faint bass coming from it. But when I plug the sub directly into my Onkyo DVD player....wow...it really is a thumper. So the speaker is fine, it just wont work on 5.1 Seeing that I got it mostly for HT this really sucks. If I keep it on the analog outs on the dvd..I feel like I will be missing out on the benefits of 5.1 and it wont be of any use to the vcr or cable tv. Strength:
Phenomenal deep musical bass
Weakness:
No auto-on or remote This is the second HPS-1000 sub I got from uBid. The first one arrived from UPS with two legs broken off. I immediately sent it back. This is the third heavy item I've received damaged in shipping, all by UPS. Well, I got a second sub for almost $100 less than I paid for the first one, so I wasn't too upset after all! This one arrived in perfect condition!! My main speakers are excellent down to 40 Hz, so I use the Infinity HPS-1000 for the really lowest frequencies. It doesn't disappoint. I ended up paying $549 plus $96 shipping & handling (a bit high for UPS. I really didn't mind paying the high shipping charges for such a deal on a really great subwoofer. If you like really deep musical bass you can also feel and you don't have neighbors nearby, I highly recommend you buy one, especially at this affordable discount. However, be prepared to return it if UPS delivers it. :-) Similar Products Used: M&K, psb, Advent 550S/w Carver amp, Cerwin-Vega |

Strength:
Lots of bass when hooking it up to cd player.
Weakness:
LFE not working I am having the same LFE problem with my sub. I talked with a Customer Service Rep who said that the LFE problem would be under warranty, so I will probably lug mine into a service center. I guess I will break the other customer service representative's theory that all of the "bad ones" came from UBID, since I got mine at One Call. I have seen what this sub CAN do when working properly. I just wish they would get the LFE problem fixed. Try hooking your sub directly into the sub. Its pretty amazing (but still needs fixing). No LFE OK..heres an update on my previous review...I called Infinity and got a very candid customer service rep. He said that they sold Ubid a lot of subpar units at a blowout price when they moved their storage facility. |

Bang for the buck
Weakness:
no video shielding, owners manual. Bought from ubid last month for 549, arrived from ups 6 days later in good shape, broke sub in for several days with low freq. test tone thru dsp a1. I have a large room (5300cu. ft) main speakers are mirage om6's with two 8 in subs in ea, rears are om8's with two 6in subs in ea, and wanted this sub to fill in the bottom end, this sub does more than fill in bottom end " YOU WILL FEEL IT" bass is tight and not boomy even in corner. i hooked up per manual, lfe out on reciever to low level in on sub, eq in video, phase 0, gain 4 1/2, input direct. sounded fine that way but my dsp a1 crossover is set at 90 hz and is not adjustable and crossover is not adjustable on sub in direct mode. used y abapter and changed input to normal and set crossover on sub to 65 hz. I have had no problems with lfe, ubid or ups, unit looked new and serial # on box matched serial# on sub, i have listened to many subs and this is by far the best in $500-$600 price range, highly recommended, i may buy another before there gone.
