Strength:

Great power. Great looks. Lots of headroom. Low price.

Weakness:

Very minor low frequency hum.

After reading other reviews on this product earlier today, I almost decided to buy something else other than the JBL's. I'm glad I didn't.
Everyone seems to be complaining about the low frequency hum that this unit unfortunately produces. From the sound of it, it's the amplifier in the unit not being shielded enough from the driver. I don't know if the this one is different than everyone else's but the noise level is very very low. a conversation at low volumes will mask it. I agree that it's something that should have been designed out but if you rate it only on that, odds are you aren't going to buy it. You would be missing out on a unit that pumps out lots of clean, tight, floor vibrating bass, looks that are good enough to get oooooh and ahhhhhhhhs, and isn't going to result in a second mortgage on the house.
Don't listen to the hype of most of the morons on here who buy it online (stupid idea buying speakers without being able to hear them first anyways) and get pissed off when something goes wrong and they have to pay for shipping this 30 pound unit. Buy it, as you should any other speaker, from somewhere you can take it home and test it out and beat the crap out of it to see if it's the one for you, and return it if you aren't heppy. If you buy it, you will be happy with it's performance. Let's face it... if you were hugely concerned about getting a unit that is going to tear wallpaper off and is handmade and tested rigorously.to be defect and design flaw free, you wouldn't be spending this little money on it. JBL has always made top line speakers for the price and this is no different.

Strength:

Clean, tight bass. Hits very low without distortion. LFE input.

Weakness:

Has a bit of a hum - I can only hear it if Im next to it, with everything else off.

What a great little sub! I was surprised at the smallness of it. JBL had sent this sub to me as a replacement for my dead PSWD-110 that croaked on me.
I am much happier with this sub! Boy, it hits LOW! Clean and tight at loud volumes, and you can even hear it at low volumes.
Very wide dispertion - I cant tell where it's comming from, which is what you want :)
It looks very cool as well, and is a perfect match for my JBL HLS series loudspeakers (620's for mains, and 615's for rear - HLS center for...the center).
Very impressive! And you cant beat $0!

Strength:

Strong, tight bass, downfiring woofer, good build quality compared to last years JBL! subs and nice clean looks!

Weakness:

None thusfar.

This sub was a fantastic deal for the money and rounds out my home theater. I have spent a lot time fine tuning the sub with my reciever and other speakers and now that it's setup the bass response is fantatic. Ships fly with a deep menace across my screen. Explosions rumble to life, and the T-Rex scene in Jurassic Park, well I won't spoil it for you!

If you're looking for a quality sub at a reasonable price look closely at the JBL, I don't think you will be dissapointed.

*It should be noted (for skeptics) that last years subwoofers: the PSW-110, 112 and 115 were abysmally bad designs and JBL! has significantly improved on their designs since then (the old subs weren't even downfiring!).

Strength:

Nic tight sound. Accompanied with Monster cable set up, it sounds great

Weakness:

None so far

When I first heard this thing at best buy I was pretty impressed with the over all performance. The bass was clean and it sounds great with all types of music and I listen to everything.
I was lucky enough to pick it up open box so I was a happy camper. I think any serious stereo buff should consider JBL products.

Strength:

Good clean hard hitting bass. I can feel it in my recliner! Has a lot more "umph" than my other sub.

Weakness:

None so far.

What else can I say but this thing KICKS! I replaced my Cambridge Soundworks sub with the PB-10, and could tell a huge difference immediately. I love hearing AND feeling great bass! This sub goes along with my JBL N-38 mains, JBL S-center channel speaker, and Bose 201's for my surrounds. In my opinion, you just can't go wrong with JBL products.

Strength:

Great Sound, multiple setups

Weakness:

It scratched my wall when i put it down

I used to work at Best Buy so i know all about the subs they sell. Which is also why i got it for 170 instead of 300. I pulled the monster cable out of my old junker sub and plugged it in and it was the best thing ever. I didnt want the 12" cause then it wouldnt be able to move as fast since it didnt have the power. I could say this is the best Subwoofer for all around listening, like rock music with its punchiness to rap with booms. Movies everything is great. I only wished it came in Beechwood like the studio speakers they make... maybe someday

Strength:

Great sound, especially for value

Weakness:

reliability?

THIS IS A GREAT SUB FOR THE MONEY! It's musical (tight bass) and its still got plenty of power for HT. Reliability is a little questionable based on what some others have written, buts its been fine for me.

BTW, this is not a place to post your questions or odd (and inaccurate) observations on the wattage of AC outlets!! That's why there're forums on this site!

Strength:

Low and loud. Very versitle. Solid construction.

Weakness:

Large size and its a bit on the boomy side.

I purchased this to compliment my new N38's and I am happy with the results. I am very ipressed at how low and loud this thing get, it litteraly vibrated stuff off of the shelf. Two things I find imperfect with it are the size and the bass is a little on the loose side when the volume is up, but these are minor complaints. Some of the posotive things are all the configurations and adjustments that can be made to taylor this puppy to your system needs, and I like the fact that it has non-skid rubber foot pads.

Strength:

rattles the windows

Weakness:

none!

First lets talk about the hum issue in standby mode..... well ONLY if I get on my hands and knees right next to the sub will I detect any hum at all. So for those who have hum problems..... I think you either have another power source to close or you are not using a quality cable or you are using the sub as a pillow. I mean I can hear my refrigerator humming 30 feet away but that doesn't turn me off of food!

Okay now, how does the PS10 sound? simply put, it kicks ass! It's very crisp and clean and it rumbles.... i love it! The first night I hooked it up, me and my 8 year old son were watching The Mummy Returns, when my wife, who was in the bedroom reading (upstairs and down the hall), came in and asked me to turn it down because the rattling windows was distracting. So of course being a nice guy, I turned it down..... but only to inch it back up to rumble mode (hey, I'm not THAT nice!). It's plenty big enough for a big room too, my living room is 30x18 and it rocks! So bottom line on performance... I'd give it 10 stars if they let me!

Now, where should you buy your PS10? If you are the type who is so freaked out something is gonna break that you buy the super duper mega 15 year extended warranty on your new fingernail clippers, then I suggest you buy your PS10 locally for $300 like a dweeb. But if you have at least one drop of testosterone then buy it online because it's way cheaper! I did a little surfing and found it at J and R Music (authorized online dealer, IMPORTANT) for $199 with FREE shipping! Shipping on this anvil is 27 bucks so this was a killer deal. Don't be foolish and buy used audio equipment on ebay. I checked there just for the heck of it and the lowest price i saw was $186 PLUS $34 shipping.....for USED equipment??? my question is...... WHY????

I hope this review is helpful for anyone who has read some of the 1 star reviews about humming and quality issues and began wondering. Just realize some dorks are just anal about everything. There is NO hum. It's crisp and clean. It shakes house and rattles my windows. It's a GREAT price for a GREAT name in audio performance. BUY IT!

Strength:

Tight deep bass. **ON/OFF Switch Multi-inputs. Very adjustable to suit music or audio/visual needs.

Weakness:

Could come equipped with spikes.

I bought this sub for casual listening in my office. My satellites are JBL CM62s which lack lower end, in fact they lack alot. The PB10 provides a solid lower end response.

Just to note one thing, I read a lot of complaints about this unit not having a on/off switch and how the unit hummed. Well, they must have been reading these reviews because the unit now has an on/off switch and the unit doesn't hum in the least.

It is great for what I bought it for. I like so much that I intend to take it home for my family room's A/V system providing I can convince my wife that the black box is pleasiing to the eye.

In conclusion the only thing that JBL could have done to improve this unit would have been to enclose spikes with it. It would couple better with the floor through the carpet to insure that it didn't sound muddy (which it doesn't).
