Strength:

Awesome home theater bass. Not boomy. Solid and Clear.

Weakness:

Probably not the best sub for classical music.

This sub is awesome. I used a Polk PSW450 previously and sent it back because it would pop at hard hitting home theater bass. For nearly 100 dollars less this one is a great deal. I don't know if it would be a very good sub for classical musical though, if you care about that. But for solid, clear, room shaking home theater bass this sub is all you need. I read of reports of reliability problems with these subs, so I contacted JBL about this matter. They said they were aware of the problems and as long as you get a sub made in the last 6 months it has the problems corrected. They said the model number of the sub I ordered is a new one. So far I've had no problems. This sub is highly recommended, just get one made in the last 6 months.

Strength:

Great Bass Floor Firing

Weakness:

Not good for small rooms because it is large. Shakes my house.

Wow just got this the other day and its putting out great bass, Etronics is the way to go, their warehouse was close to me to they let me pick it up. Im only using a standard cable for the bass and its still incredible, I need to purchase a premium bass cable still. Dont buy this for anymore than $250. Great bass for the price. Etronics must sell the new model because it has the on/off switch on the back and there is also no humming.

Strength:

Tight bass, huge power. Great price for it. If you pay over $280 for this sub with shipping, then I need to become an audio/video dealer

Weakness:

For this price none! If I had to say something though, maybe the LEDs

If you want bang for the buck, get this sub. I think this sub should have a rating of over 4.5 to 5. It recreates absolutely tight bass, and tears my living room apart for my action movies. Especially 'Final Fantasy'. I heard no humming, or distorted noises at all. Of course I have a nice Monster cable for it as well.

Strength:

Good sound for money

Weakness:

Broke in 6 months but was fixed quickly under warranty.

Great Sub for the money, just like the others I had my sub fail after about 6 months. Heard a loud buzz and then poof, dead sub. The good thing was that the service center fixed it in 2 weeks and I have it back as good as new. Some build quality issues but the sub sound is great.

Strength:

4" double flared port, loud and clear, LFE switch, Rubber surround and frequency response

Weakness:

hard to hear distorting

This best of a sub pounds and rumbles out low frequencies with definite clarity with a class D amp operates at low temperature while maintaining levels that will pop your ear drums. Nearly took out my bedroom window while watching the matrix(helicopter scene) My system is made up of: Receiver- Technics SA-DX1050 Main- Technics A30 (10's) Surround- MTX AAL10 Center- Yamaha DVD player- Toshiba 5-discs Equalizer- Audio Source (for stereo use KLH 15's) and of course JBL PB12

Strength:

Bass response Power = 250 RMS Amp = 350 so the power, which is not listed as 350 WATTS is actually 350 Watts! Very fast, no where near sloppy!

Weakness:

For the price, I feel they could have made the PB12 more powerful??? I think??? However, It is very articulate so i guess that makes up for it!

Price Paid = $500.00 Canadian Room acoustics have a lot to do with the sound you hear!!! think about it!!! Room acoustics can make a million dollar sub sound terrible, so ya, i think you dig lol (for the last reviewer) Ok, so I walk into Visions and want to see the PB10. The salesman, whom I have done business with b4 (and always gives me awesome deals) offers the PB12 for $500 instead of me paying $500 for the PB10! ya, so i got me self a killer deal!! Awesome Sub!!! Provides excellent bass response and IS quite atriculate. More than enough power for most ppl. ****NOTE: it is actually a 350 WATT AMP**** Nuff said. o ya! JBL has fixed all those problems with the sub amplifier, so don''t be afraid to pick one up lol make sure its a new one! As long as you dont put through frequencies below 25HZ very loud...you will not get port "chuffing". very good build quality, i took it apart myself - very firm construction.

Strength:

crisp sound, plays great at low volumes, plays better at high volumes, you can feel it from two houses down at medium

Weakness:

big (much smaller than the average 12", but its still a little bigger than my 19" monitor)

This things for real. I''ve listened to a lot of subs over the years (includin my old 15") but this one is for real. The best is that the quality is amazing when its on at very low. When you turn it up, it only gets better!
